As the kids say in text lingo, orly? Or as John McEnroe might scream, “You cannot be serious!”
[P]olls have consistently shown Obama’s support among American Jews declining. But at a fundraiser last night at the home of Jack Rosen, president of the largely defunct American Jewish Congress, Obama was tooting his own horn again, in a way that reflects not only his political agenda but his well-known high opinion of himself:
And as Jack alluded to, this administration — I try not to pat myself too much on the back, but this administration has done more in terms of the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration.
Well, in a manner of speaking he does have a point. Just pair the president’s quote up with what’s taking place in Egypt. That country has been at relative peace with Israel for decades. Islamists are running one and two in the vote. That has done and will do quite a lot for Israel’s security (none of it good), and Obama has played a starring role. Would the secular, Islamist-hating Mubarak have left so easily if his former staunch ally, the United States, hadn’t put a firm hand on his back and given him a shove?
