Sometimes the best thing you can do to help the revolution is simply keep your mouth shut.
Two of the oh-so-tragic “victims” of the now legendary UC Davis Pepper Spray Massacre foolishly gave an interview to KTVU, appearing perfectly healthy while smiling and almost giggling as they describe the unbearable agony of getting pepper sprayed:
Yeah, it hurts, girls (I was pepper sprayed twice while covered the 2008 Democratic convention in Denver, so I have a recent experience with it), but that’s the whole point: it briefly hurts the eyes, but causes no lasting damage. That’s why these non-lethal crowd-control measures were invented in the first place – so people wouldn’t have any basis to complain when they were used to disperse crowds.
Their giddy and smug demeanor – reveling in the media glory of being the victim-du-jour of evil police brutality – completely undermines their message about the “excruciatingly painful” pepper spray in their eyes.
But no matter – expect the mainstream media to run with this story for as long as they can. Victimology trumps reality every time.
The interview clip above is an excerpt from this full report, prepared by TV station KTVU:
And make sure to watch the full report too, which includes the UC Davis Chancellor groveling and apologizing to the Occupy protesters, only to have her apology rejected as she was literally chased off her own campus by OWS goons. Unreal.
You can see the full original report on KTVU’s Web site here.
UPDATE:
“Anonymous” threatens pepper-spray cops in menacing new video:
The UC Davis police officer filmed casually pepper-spraying passive student protesters is the latest target of the computer hacking collective Anonymous.
A new 10-minute video attributed to the shadowy “hacktivist” group threatens the officer directly and makes public his personal contact information – including his cell phone number and an alleged home address.
The voicemail on the working cell number for Lt. John Pike was full Tuesday.
“Dear Officer John Pike, we are Anonymous. Your information is now public domain,” a computer-generated voice narrating the Anonymous video states.
“Expect our full wrath,” the voice continues as viral video of the Friday incident plays in the background. “Anonymous seeks to avenge all protesters…We are going to make you squeal like a pig.”
The ominous message, which ends with a photo of Pike and the sounds of shrieking pigs, makes no excuse for exposing Pike to potential reprisals.
“We have no problem targeting police and releasing their information even if it puts them at risk because we want them to experience just a taste of the brutality and misery they serve us on an everyday basis,” it says.
Does that mean Anonymous will make the cops giggle?
UPDATE II:
I saw this earlier and assumed readers already knew about it, but in case not, to place the whole charade in even further context:
UC Davis Students AGREED to Be Pepper Sprayed Before Incident
The fact that this hurricane-in-a-doll’s-toy-teapot is getting international attention only further confirms that there’s no real police brutality going on; if this is all they got, then they got nothin’.

First the Kent State Massacre. Now the Pepper Spray Massacre. Humanity is plunging into the abyss.
Please don’t trivialize the tragedy of Kent State by comparing it to this cluter-hump, even if you were kidding. I fear we will be hearing that comparison for a long time to come, by ignorant people.
Many on the Left have been decrying the lack of an iconic, sympathy-inducing “Kent State Moment™” to cement the the eternal victimhood/unquestionable moral superiority of the ‘Occupy’ Movement. Advertising guru-turned MSNBC television presenter Donny Deutsch(bag) started it all when he leaned forward, grabbed some Morning Joe, and said:
It’s no accident that the Mainstream Media has been pushing the “Pepper Spray Massacre” in the news as though it’s the most outrageous outrage since Rethuglican tea baggers stole the 2010 midterm elections. The Mainstream Media has been searching for that iconic image or event to use in order to manipulate the public’s emotions, and make it virtually impossible for the average American to do anything but voice righteous solidarity with “heroes” of the fledgling ‘Occupy’ movement.
The Left will have their Kent State moment no matter how much they have to exaggerate to get it. If this pepper spray incident doesn’t do the job, they will exaggerate some other incident until they get the desired result.
Case in point: I have before me a union-generated pamphlet describing the origins of Labor Day that says the following (emphasis added): “One of the first labor parades occurred in London, England in 1834, to protest against the conviction of the Todpuddle martyrs, six farm laborers who attempted to form a union. Fifty thousand protesters walked in a show of support for the laborers. After their release from prison, five of the six Todpuddle victims emigrated to Canada.”
When I think of the word “martyr”, I think of this definition: “one who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty for refusing to renounce their religion”. So my immediate reaction to the paragraph in the pamphlet was two questions: 1. How did they convict and jail six dead people? 2. How did six dead people emigrate to other countries after they got out of jail?
Naturally, the union folks used the OTHER definition of martyr: “one who suffers for the sake of principle”. How long has this tamer definition of “martyr” been in use? I’m not sure but I can’t help but suspect that it is a much newer usage, expressly designed to equate someone who experiences something unpleasant with someone who experiences death. Someone who will let themselves be KILLED in defence of a principle is a very powerful image and is often inspirational. It seems like one that any activist would like to use. But most activists don’t actually want to die. What to do? What to do? You can almost hear the activists discussing this dilemna… “Hey, let’s weaken the heck out of “martyr” by using it to describe people that only suffered a lot – or maybe not even all that much – so that we get the strong image that we want WITHOUT having to die!”
People reading the paragraph in the pamphlet will probably not be paying that much attention so most will never notice that the “martyrs” described went to jail and later emigrated. Of the people that DO pay attention, some will probably think that the “martyrs” really DID die and were imprisoned anyway! And then their rotting corpses were sent to foreign countries after the stench became intolerable. (Wow, those capitalists really ARE evil!!!) The smarter people in the audience will see that they are being played for fools by having jailed protesters called martyrs.
It’s easy to imagine the term “Pepper Spray Massacre” coming into common usage and to have millions of people who only heard about the story or only saw a brief clip about it think that people actually died during this incident. Just imagine the effect that will have in time….
One (if only one) statement by Marx has aged well: “History occurs twice: once as tragedy, the second time as farce.” Hard to think of a better case in point.
I wrote yesterday they’d do this; it’s their escutcheon now; they’ll probably put it on a coat of arms next time they’re at Disney.
I wish they’d been in Tahrir Square so they could each talk with a missing eye and giggle while they show the rubber bullet that took it out.
Or maybe they could giggle while one holds a giant photo of the other mercilessly beaten to death.
Play rebels playing at nothing with nothing on the line. I’m surprised they don’t have parties where they play “rebel” and throw salt in each other’s eyes.
Maybe the cops were just hoping the pepper spray would cover up all the hippie-stink.
“only to have her apology rejected as she was literally chased off her own campus by OWS goons”
Have we put an entire generation of children into positions of power?
Who better to bully than someone, like her,
who has already surrendered?
These UC Davis figures are pipsqueaks in grovelling and surrendering compared to their role model Larry Summers who briefly was President of Harvard.
He started off well, properly calling out Cornel West for academic frivolity, but he didn’t have the guts to defend his ‘women in science’ speech (fearless academician!), and was chased out of Harvard despite grovelling and surrendering and lavishing a big bribe upon the poor quivering harpies who ‘took offense’ at his well-structured discussion of gender balance in science and mathematics.
Did you notice that she spoke with an accent. Personally, I think it was horribly racist of the students to chase her away….
Not really. I’m just imagining how the story would play out if a crowd had chased Obama away from somewhere….
Hell; I put pepper on everything. I think it’s healthy.
– hee.
Don’t know if you’ve seen this, but they actually agreed to be pepper sprayed…
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2011/11/it-figures-uc-davis-students-agreed-to-be-pepper-sprayed-before-incident-video/
I’ve similar things to this, where the protesters volunteer a certain number of people to be arrested. They discuss it in advance with the police. The police agree to only arrest the preselected protesters and the rest disperse at the very last moment. Then they follow through with the charade – the police make a few arrests, the protesters get their pictures and video of their martyrs…everyone’s happy. Looks like they made similar arrangement this time to get pepper sprayed.
I did see it this morning, and presumed everyone else did too; but you’re right, the post would be more complete with that detail included. So, I have now updated the post to include a link about the protesters agreeing to be sprayed. Thanks for highlighting it!
People did not know the Occupests had already agreed to be sprayed? Really?
Well, that explains the perfectly idiotic outrage I’ve been hearing, anyway. Somehow, I’m no less disgusted – did people really think there was no warning? No reason? When the cops knew the cameras were rolling?
How stupid is the American public, to believe this nonsense?
Who’s going to PAY for all of the costs associated with this stupid little charade?
Just askin’.
Ringo, I watched that video about them agreeing to be sprayed. I also thought about what would have happened if this had been Iran, Syria or Egypt’s Tahrir Square. There would have been no agreement, there would have been first tear gas and pepperspray then live fire. The school would have been shut down, the leaders and the most vocal would have been hauled off to prison to face true torture and possibly rape. After a few months in prison they face a mock trial and then back to prison for more of the same. These kids don’t know what they are missing.
I see on the news that 24 people were killed in Tahrir Square this weekend. Now THAT’S police brutality.
Yeah, ever since the Arab Spring, I just laugh when the Occupy Wall Street protesters and their supporters whine about police brutality here in the United States. It’s an insult to protesters in the Middle East to act like O.W.S. is being brutalized.
I’m pretty sure the ‘rape-rape’ from their fellow whackadoodles hurt worse than the pepper spray.
BTW, cayenne is very healthy for you and can even save you from a heart attack.
hehe
two songs that sum up where there losers are headed: funny when you think of OWS as the subject of the song…

I guess David Byrne could see this coming….
Must be some weak pepper spray they are using. They need to use the stuff that stops a Grizzly in its tracks. Because if it wont disperse some spoiled kids then I sure do not want to rely on it when hiking in Bear country.
Did you not hear demonstrators shouting to each other, “Close your eyes! Close your eyes!”? I assume there’s some discomfort to the delicate membranes in nasal passages, though they may have avoided some nasal contact by lowering their heads and breathing through or inside their clothing. I suspect pepper spray works better when it’s applied in a surprise attack.
…and speaking of Grizzlies, there’s this.
Alaska Grizzly Bear Notice:
In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is advising tourists, hikers and fisherman to take extra precautions and be extra alert for bears while traveling this summer.
We advise people to wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that are not expecting them. We also advise everyone to carry Pepper Spray with them in case of an encounter with a grizzly.
It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear a grizzly bear dung.
Black bear dung is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur.
Grizzly bear dung has lots of little bells in it and smells like pepper.
Excellent!! A perfect setup for the last line, which was just brilliant!
Thanks for the post, ok if I send to facebook?
I ate lunch with my exwife. I suggested that she get a firearm to protect herself. She said she had pepper spray. I asked to look at it. My food came. I sprayed it on my food and ate it.
Tasty!
That’s hilarious, Don!
If the facts aren’t on your side, base your attack tone.
Is there any claim that the cop didn’t pepper spray peaceful protesters? No.
Is pepper spraying peaceful protesters a violation of 4th amendment rights due to a 9th Circuit precedent? Yes – Lundberg v. Humboldt. Pepper-spraying peaceful protesters is illegal, despite the pathetically-typical attempts to minimize the police behavior. Claiming that two people aren’t reacting appropriately in an isolated 20-second clip doesn’t negate legal precedent.
“Peaceful” does not include intentionally refusing to obey the police when the police give you lawful orders to stop interfering with an arrest.
See the whole video in the update — these protesters surrounded and threatened the police, and refused to disperse or allow the police to do their job. The police politely asked “Will you allow us to do our job, or are you going to make us take action?” The protesters shouted “Fuck the Po-lice!” etc. The police then told the protesters that if you do not stop interfering in the lawful arrest of certain individuals, then we will have to disperse you with pepper spray. Do you understand? Yes, we understand. And you’re OK with that? Yes, we are OK with that. THEN and only then do you see the infamous pepper spray sweep.
No rights were violated, except the rights of the taxpayers who had to pay for 30 minutes extra overtime to facilitate the absurd niceness of the cops.
The entire goal of these protests is to get a video of some minor purported police malfeasance. And you of course know that. Everyone knows that. The protesters were gleeful in the extreme that they got their little media moment. Far from being abused, they were rewarded with the very thing they sought.
Yawn.
Don’t cornfuse him with the facts, Zombie; his mind’s made up.
You are, as usual, completely right Zombie, with one caveat: most people including many on the Right have not adequately absorbed this fact–that the main goal and strategy is to target police and create a narrative of their brutality.
Keep spraying the truth directly in their faces.
What’s really telling about all of this is that none of these students or the smug faculty are calling for the ouster of the male head of UC Berkeley. You know, where police actually beat students back with batons. I guess it’s okay if you’re a penised-American!
Pepper spray? I thought they we de-lousing the dirty kids….
Zombie:
Wait till you hear about the woman who lost her baby becuase she was sprayed with something.
http://phoenixwoman.wordpress.com/2011/11/22/pregnant-occupy-seattle-protester-kicked-and-pepper-sprayed-by-cops-loses-baby/
Not that a pregnant woman should put herself in position like that or anything.
Who could possibly make this stuff up?
Without further evidence: Pepper spray caused me to miscarry = the onset of miscarriage causes one to be pepper sprayed.
That’s ridiculous. How totally inappropriate. How would you feel if your mom got pepper sprayed and miscarried you. Would you care that correlation does not imply causation then? Or would you shut your non-existent and keep your non-existent meanness to your non-existent self? While most pregnant women would not put themselves in that position, there is no reason at all that an officer should need to pepper spray a pregnant woman – NONE.
As I watch the shuffling parade of incompetence that is the Republican primary field, I find myself getting more and more stabby. As I observe people actually thinking that someone like Herb Cain or Newt Gingrich would make a good president, I want to take them by the shoulders and shake some sense into them. As I follow the super-committee’s latest proposals (quickly followed by the other side saying “That’s laughable!” and an immediate refusal) and continued unsuccessful negotiations, I just want to throttle the whole lot of them. There’s a reason Congress is less popular than not only Paris Hilton, but also the United States of America turning Communist, and it’s because they’re all behaving like petulant children with more than a little touch of brain damage.
And as I see the Occupy Wall Street protesters and those of us who support them categorized as lazy bums who want a handout and spend our days smoking weed and shitting on cop cars, I get very, very angry. Are there bad apples involved with the movement? Undoubtedly. You encounter douches in every walk of life. But the majority are people who see the vast and ever-increasing gap between the haves and have-nots and would like to see that change. Do we want to see the highest wage earners give away all their money? Do we want them to NOT make money? Of course not! However, it strikes me as fundamentally wrong to see CEOs making millions in salaries and bonuses, not creating any jobs, and slowly squeezing the life out of the American middle class.
Those who criticize the Occupy movement and see them as nothing more than unwashed hippies apparently missed the fact that the “American Dream” is on life support, and with the way we’re going, I’m not sure it can be revived. It is no longer enough to work hard and pull yourself up and get an education. I know plenty of college graduates who have been down-sized and downtrodden; when there are four people vying for every job available, there are no guarantees that you’ll find a job anytime soon. Our manufacturing jobs are being sent overseas, and I doubt they’re coming back. Our populace is under-educated and unqualified for many of the jobs that are out there. Yet the Republicans talk about cutting funds for Pell grants, and job training programs, and we just keep going deeper into the rabbit hole.
nutwoodjunction.blogspot.com
Our populace is under-educated and unqualified for many of the jobs that are out there.
And it’s the hippies who never left campus and are now the ESTABLISHMENT themselves in academia who are largely to blame. Nutjobjunction, please grow up.
“As I observe people actually thinking that someone like Herb Cain or Newt Gingrich would make a good president…..”
That’s not the point. The point is that either one would make a better president than Obama. In Engineering we were taught the definition of quality: Quality is nothing more than being better than your competitor. Too many believe that quality should reflect some utopian perfection.
“….squeezing the life out of the American middle class.” Responding to that statement is like responding to Pelosi’s “it’s for the children” drivel, meant to garner sympathy. A slogan.
“….the fact that the “American Dream” is on life support,…..” Another slogan. It’s not a fact, but your opinion. Many are no worse off today than 3 years ago, some even better, except those affected by the the poor economy brought on by the financial crises, which was caused by the housing bubble created by the Democrat-controlled Fannie, Freddie and our politicians. Any so-called disparity between the “rich” (Wall Street) and “poor” is nothing more than the manifestation of our poor economy, thank you very much President Obama. Doesn’t over 9% unemployment give you a hint? And having many of the OWS protesters being degreed in Romance languages and “Women’s Studies” and other useless disciplines, and not being able to find a job during a poor economy, doesn’t help either. It’s the economy, stupid, and until it picks up, people suited for librarian positions will have a hard time finding jobs. The “American Dream” will pick up nicely once the economy improves through policies that stimulate growth, not income redistribution and paybacks to political supporters.
We had about 200 million people in 1965 and now have 300 million. An economy usually grows like the population as people make decisions about family based on their own views of the opportunities for stable employment out there.
Legal and illegal, you have 2 million people entering America every year; it is not the system that is broken but the immigration system. Unfortunately, that solution will be the last the Left will attack since it is a protected topic, not open to debate.
So, you live by the sword you die by the sword. Try paying the rent with political correctness.
Police trained to use pepper spray and tazers are required to be sprayed and tazed themselves before being certified in their use. Being tazed is often called “riding the lightening”.
I presume Anonymous is represented by that stupid Guy Fawkes mask, which to me looks like Mahmoud Ahmadenijad with a geek mustache.
I suggest everyone who thinks getting pepper sprayed is hilarious, should go out and get the 7% pepper spray used on the students, and spray themselves in the eyes. The funniest part of the video is when the girl talks about how horrible painful the even was. Other peoples pain is so funny. The girl is not laughing at the pain, but at the actions of the police. I think that is it pretty disgusting what happened to the kids sitting on the ground. I think the cops could have just arrested them without pepper spray.
I’ve never seen anyone speak so insincerely when talking about their own horrible pain. These women were SMILING as they talked about something “horrible” that happened to them. How does that happen? I’m sure they will have been coached to break into tears in future interviews, though….
Well, I suppose they shouldn’t have frickin’ volunteered to be sprayed then huh, sport?
Idiot.
Brian N, like I said in the post, I myself was pepper sprayed TWICE in the eyes by the Denver police in 2008 using the exact same police pepper spray used in this video.
Yeah, it stung like hell, and one spurts out tears like a waterfall, and clenches ones eyes in pain.
And then…after a while, it wears off, or you wash it off. And then it’s over.
I have no lasting damage from the incident, nor do these girls nor does anyone else.
Pepper spray is a very good way to force people to close their eyes, making them incapable of resisting arrest or whatever. It’s unpleasant, but it’s meant to be unpleasant. But it’s decidedly more pleasant than getting cracked on the skull by a baton, which is what police used to do before non-lethal crowd control measures were invented.
The reason these girls described it as the most agonizing pain in their lives is because until now they’ve probably never experienced any pain of any kind. Stepping on a thumbtack would also be the most agonizing pain of their lives.
But playing the “You chickenhawks! You don’t know what it’s like!” gambit doesn’t work with me. I’ve been there. Earlier in my life, in my much younger days, I was also teargassed many times, so I know what that’s like too.
You think we are naive. You think we don’t know all about the “act confrontational with the police and then instantly switch into delicate victim mode” strategy of modern protesters.
But we do know. As do most Americans. And no one’s falling for it any more.
My own bad attempt at parody:
“UC-Davis”
Neutered officers and apologists coming,
We’re finally pathetic clowns.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four sprayed at UC-Davis.
Gotta get down to it
Officers are spraying us down
Should have been bathing long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her sprayed on the ground
How can you not laugh when you know?
Gotta get down to it
Officers are spraying us down
Should have been bathing long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her sprayed on the ground
How can you not laugh when you know?
Neutered officers and apologists coming,
We’re finally pathetic clowns.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four sprayed at UC-Davis.
“The girl is not laughing at the pain, but at the actions of the police [fact or wishful thinking, we decide. FB].”
“I think that is it pretty disgusting what happened to the kids sitting on the ground.”
Edit: Delete ‘sitting on the ground.’ Insert ‘blocking the road by sitting in it with arms linked to prevent a peaceful arrest.’
Looking around the news today, this story has been forgotten already. Next.
You’re absolutely correct, Black. Amazing isn’t it!
The problem with interviewing these young victims is not with the victims themselves. It is a well-known fact that inappropriate emotional responses often occur in victim interviews. Unfortunate, yes, but reason tells us that the victim is never at fault. Never. Even if they agreed to this fiasco, then it is the perpetrator who choreographed it who is at fault. Not the student victims. And by the way – Egypt is requesting that we back them by Occupying their Embassies here in the US – they are over there being maimed and killed by the very weapons being supplied to their military by our would-be-do-good government. Perhaps this would be an appropriate gesture in kind.
How does this justify anything?
“Yeah, no problem, feel free to assault me.”
.. It’s still assault. And the “cops” should have known better.
Just because it’s “nonlethal” doesn’t mean it’s to be used. It’s an ALTERNATIVE to LETHAL force, *not* a “new option”.
Then again, As Megyn Kelly says, it’s just a food product. Right?
Howdy very nice website!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I’ll bookmark your website and take the feeds additionally?I am glad to search out numerous useful information here within the submit, we want work out more techniques on this regard, thanks for sharing. . . . . .
