LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.
Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.
No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said. ….
One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. “One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion.”
The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.
The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.
Unlike Tea Partiers, these union folks meet the actual definition of “hostage takers.”

If Longview doesn’t have a SWAT team, Portland (about an hour away) and Tacoma (an hour and a half) do. I suspect the Longview police aren’t pursuing this diligently. We’ll see what follow-up happens, if any. The Cowlitz County DA likely doesn’t want to touch this with a 10 foot pole. But we’ll see.

Of course nothing is done. This is a Blue State. Oh, we have lots of “independents”. They are part of the Green Party or something similar. They just happen to vote Dem every time.
Obama’s been like Viagra for these unions. They’re old and ready to kick the bucket, and then he comes along, and suddenly they have these boners that they haven’t had in 50 years, and they think they’re young and virile again, and are looking to diddle anything in sight. In reality, it’s just going to give them heart attacks, and finish them off faster.
Unfortunately, behavior of this sort is not terribly unheard of in my state. Remember the sedition (yes, sedition: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sedition ) committed by protesters regarding the Iraq War?
