The lack of main stream news coverage on the Fast and Furious debacle, that left at least one American dead, has been frightening. Often called President Obama’s Watergate, Fast and Furious’ misguided premise put guns in the hands of violent criminals, cost millions of dollars, killed Border Agent Brian Terry and – if ever investigated – may expose barbaric corruption at the Department of Justice, and the White House.
As PJ Media has been reporting in a near exclusive fashion for over three months, the Department of Justice, which includes ATF (Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) engaged in Operation Fast and Furious (also known as “GunWalker”) as a strategy to combat gun trafficking on the Southern Border. From the 2009 Congressional Report:
In the fall of 2009, the Department of Justice (DOJ) developed a risky new strategy to combat gun trafficking along the Southwest Border.…The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) implemented that strategy using a reckless investigative technique that street agents call “gunwalking.” ATF’s Phoenix Field Division began allowing suspects to walk away with illegally purchased guns.
This shift in strategy was known and authorized at the highest levels of the Justice Department. Through both the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona and “Main Justice,” headquarters in Washington, D.C., the Department closely monitored and supervised the activities of the ATF.
It has become increasingly obvious that the Justice Department, meaning Attorney General Eric Holder, and the White House, meaning President Barack Obama, were aware – in part or in full – about the plan. As others have mentioned, a second intention of this plan was to perpetuate the myth that American guns are flowing into Mexico, thus creating the violence on the border between the two countries. The idea being that Operation Fast and Furious could be used as a vehicle to institute greater gun control; which is to push forward the Progressive ideal of eliminating 2nd Amendment rights.
What has also become obvious is that the main stream media has no plans to aggressively cover this story, and by aggressively I mean at all. The New York Times, rather than report the facts of this story, (which show the President and the Attorney General as being complicit, if not advocates, in a plan to sell guns to Mexican drug cartels) writes incoherent drivel about Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who sits as Chairman of the House Government Operations and Reform Committee which is investigating the Fast and Furious disaster.
This case has exposed the MSM in two horrific ways. First, it is yet more proof that the MSM refuses to portray the Administration honestly. Second, it shows how absolute the first point is. Border Agent Brian Terry is dead due to this operation, and who knows how many countless Mexicans. This plan has put all US Border Agents at incalculable risk, and shows a level of complete incompetence from those in charge who put Progressive desires ahead of human life. Yet, in adherence with their rigid ideology, the majority of the MSM not only won’t cover the story, they – like the New York Times – write error-laden hit pieces against those who are investigating the story, like Rep. Issa.
Media bias doesn’t kill, but it seems to go out of its way to protect the killers.

So what can we do? How do we hold MSM outlets accountable? What are their ombudsmen saying? How do we spread the word to those who aren’t savvy to conservative blogs?
What can we do? Well, as this New York Times opinion piece from 2007 points out:
Article II of the Constitution grants Congress the power to impeach “the president, the vice president and all civil officers of the United States.” The phrase “civil officers” includes the members of the cabinet (one of whom, Secretary of War William Belknap, was impeached in 1876).
So, Republicans in the House can start holding impeachment proceedings against Holder since he has refused to respond to the calls for suponeas. I think that might finally get the MSM’s attention.
I have been saying almost from the day he was elected he could be impeached. There are so many reasons this could happen but this time he completely trampled on the oath he took when he took office. To protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic. Handing guns over to Mexican cartel members is a blatant disregard for that. Oh not to mention he has trampled all over our countries constitution but it seems that MSM seems to ignore it and continue to be a cheerleader for him and his administration..
Great article. Is there any reason investigations cannot be started at the state level?
Write letters to the editor, your local representatives at the state/county/city. Especially if you’re in one of the border states.
That’s because the thing most likely to blow this up to where it can’t be ignored is the use of these weapons in crimes on the US side of the border. Local media will be far more likely to cover that aspect, which will then almost have to be picked up by the corporate. And these weapons are being recovered by city police on this side of the border, but not yet associated with any dramatic incidents.
Would be a great idea unless you live in California like I do and his puppets Pelosi, Boxer and Fisenstein reign supreme. But I will still write to all of them and to Issa and Billbray in the hopes that something gets done.
There is no reason you cannot write to senators and representatives not from your state, or to donate to the campaigns of worthy cantidates anywhere in the country.
While I agree with most of what you wrote, I must take exception to two things.
First, while most of the MSM has ignored Project Gunwalker, Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News has been at the forefront of the story since the early days. Sharyl was the one that got both Sr. AFT Agent John Dodson and former ATF Attaché to Mexico Darren Gil to not only tell their story but to tell it on camera with attribution. It also ignores the important work on the scandal done by William LaJeunesse of FoxNews.
Second, while Pajamas Media and writers like Bob Owens and Howard Nemerov have done great work on Project Gunwalker, it has NOT been exclusive. This claim ignores the groundbreaking work done by David Codrea of Examiner.com and Mike Vanderboegh of SipseyStreetIrregulars. Without the work done by them in the early days, no hearings would have been held and no stories like this would have been written. They broke the story and they were responsible for putting the whistleblowers in touch with Senate and House investigators. Indeed the very term “Gunwalker” comes from a post by David Codrea.
I like Pajamas Media but in comparison to those mentioned above you were Johnny-come-lately’s.
I take some exception to that John, as the first writer at PJM to cover this story back in March, just shortly after the CBS story hit, and as Issa was being told to pound sand by Holder.
Tony’s not saying others have not covered this story, nor that we were the first, but we have done yeoman work keeping this story at the forefront of the news.
The LA Times has been all over this, but only after PJM and others like us brought it to national attention.
Gentlemen,
Mainstream media, owned by the PE, will never cover the subject matter i.e. Fast and furious etc., because their financial supporters favor bringing America to her knees and ushering in Agenda 21.
Ok my point of view may not be liked but I will say it over and over.
Who cares if the drug cartel gets guns?!!!!
The only thing that bothers me about this so called project is the two face lying bastards that created it.
The ATF should be shut down! I hold the gun stores responsible for some part of this. Why would any gun dealer help ANY government agency? Shame on the dealers!
Back ground checks are unconstitutional and should be abolished.
Before this story broke we were being told that America was the main source of guns to the drug lords. I believe that was all lies. Now that this story is out all I hear is the ATF was allowing guns to be sold to the cartels from America. So what! I still say most of the guns are coming from the black market or the corrupt Mexican government.
It’s sad that everyone is up in arms about the cartel getting guns. Take away the 2,000 plus guns that the ATF allowed the cartel to get ahold of. Now what? They still have guns. They still have money. More people WILL die.
Why don’t you write an article on a real solution to the drug cartel problem?
The drug cartels would be out of business OVER NIGHT if our government would allow some friendly competition. If we abolished the war on drugs in America and restored our freedom of choice. The world would be much better off. The UNCONSTITUTIONAL war on drugs is the root of all of this.
The only reason I see the US not restoring our freedom of choice would be the US government hates competition. The US is the largest drug dealer in the world and evil groups like the CIA FBI DEA have sold drugs to pay for BS for too long.
Restore FREEDOM! Restore CHOICE! Restore LIBERTY! And all this will be taken care of.
The ATF should be shut down! I hold the gun stores responsible for some part of this. Why would any gun dealer help ANY government agency? Shame on the dealers!
Because if they don’t do what their ATF agent tells them to do they lose their license. They had no choice but to do as they were told.
Police say gunman in murder-suicide may have been on meth
Today at 6:23 a.m.
Joel Humberto Corrales-Vega may have been under the influence of methamphetamine — or other drugs — when he kicked in the door to his ex-girlfriend’s house early Thursday morning in southwest Wichita and shot her, her two young girls and her mother-in-law, police said Friday.
