Breaking: Rep. David Wu to Resign from Congress

Rep. David Wu (D-OR) is hanging up the Tigger suit.

Rep. David Wu, an Oregon Democrat facing an ethics investigation for allegedly having an unwanted sexual encounter with a young woman, said today he will resign from Congress as soon as the dispute over the nation’s debt limit is resolved.

Wu, first elected in 1998, said he is stepping down so he can take care of his children. Yesterday, he reportedly told his friend Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., that he did “nothing illegal” but conceded he exercised poor judgment.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday asked for an ethics investigation into the allegations made against Wu, the first Chinese-American member of congress.
