From today’s House Oversight investigation into Fast and Furious.
Special Agent Newell just admitted that mistakes were made in Fast and Furious. “There should have been more frequent risk assessments.” As an example, he admitted they should have contacted a straw purchaser who bought 600 firearms.
Congressman Trey Gowdy got ATF agents to admit they didn’t apprise Mexican officials of smuggling operation before it began. They planned to contact the Mexican government when they were ready for extradition requests.

Newell has been trained well by the Justice Department. He isn’t naming any names. He just plays dumb.
“…admitted that mistakes were made in Fast and Furious.”
Golly, y’think?
“There should have been more frequent risk assessments.”
Understatement of the century (so far).
How about maybe, “Does giving guns to known criminal gangs really seem like a good idea to anybody in this room?”
Indict both Newell and McMahon for obstruction of justice. I am amazed at their boldness in lying. Someone should shame them or call them out. Criminal behavior here.
