The countdown is on from 10 to 1 in the $100K (yes, you read that correctly) Power Line Prize for the best artistic dramatization of the national debt. I know, it sounds like the House of Atreus but some of them really were funny. (And, yes, I was one of the judges — so if you don’t like the results, sue me.)
But before I reveal Number 7, let me give a special shout out to John Hinderaker who, besides being a fellow Dartmouth alum (I know, big deal) has done a tremendous service here in initiating this prize to encourage conservatives to express themselves artistically and learn to get their messages across in creative ways. Man, do we need it.
And now, without further ado, Number 7: “Fiscal Child Abuse:”
Ah, geeze… My entry has no chance against these cute kids! =0[.]o=
For what it’s worth, the design is really striking. They know how to write and images from video / balance. However, I can not believe how little we really mark here. I think everybody says the same thing you’ve said on many occasions. Do not think it’s time for something else?
Well produced and there were some funny bits–the girls reading The Economist and Harvard Business Review and I laughed out loud when the lawyer brought out the doll. Perhaps if the doll had been carrying a purse for the girls to show him where they’d been “touched”? As is often the case when the message is carried by precocious, adorable children, the message itself takes a back seat to all that adorable precociousness. And I agree with the comment above that this particular message has been done to death. A worthy enough effort, but meh.
Must we adopt the language of the ghetto? Has that degenerate and cancerous culture not done enough harm to our country already?
Sorry, Mark v. I’m just one of those cheesy popularizers. I write screenplays and (yikes) detective stories. What do you expect?

That was delightful! Those kids did an amazing job. And, they’ll probably be even madder when they get older and realize just how unfair the debt load they’re carrying actually is.
Roger,this is perfect. Now it just needs to play every day, appear in papers every day, show up on TV every day, etc. Of course you won’t be able to stop them making new ones, as well as competitors doing their thing, just Great.
