Answer: No. This union has been around since the 70′s (maybe earlier). The Bader-Meinhof gang trained with the PLO before committing crimes in Germany.
I think that it’s delusion. Western leftists increasingly define themselves by what they are against rather than what they are for (which was discredited when the USSR collapsed). So they feel affinity for those that hate the same people they hate.
Leftists, almost by definition, think they’re smarter than the rest, and that they will thus ultimately prevail. Their ideology tells them so!
In 1939 there was a nice little arrangement called the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, between two governments which had seen each other as mortal enemies. It worked to their mutual advantage, for a time.
And history and human nature indicate many precedents for Leftists and Islamists working together.
The common thread between Molotov-Ribbentrop and today: delusion. Hitler and Stalin were delusional, as are the lefties and Islamists.
