Duke Machado, one of central Texas’ leading Hispanic Republican activists, went to Austin Wednesday to testify in favor of a bill that would cut off taxpayer-funded financial aid to illegal aliens. He was shocked at what he saw when state Democratic Sen. Judity Zarririni brought in her witnesses against the bill.
Senator : “Ms. Vicentes, I noticed you used the term undocumented…and I appreciate that. Is that your preferred terminology?”
Ms. Vicentes : “Yes Ma’am.”
Senator : “There are people who use the word “illegal” and “aliens,” how do you feel about those terms?”
Ms. Vincentes : “I don’t feel that any human is illegal…and that all humans are humans, therefore we are not aliens. Undocumented is the proper term becuase it is lack of documentation, like a social security number, that makes us different.”
I sat in disbelief as I watched someone, not a citizen of Texas or the United States, sit there in our Texas Capitol and suggest we are discriminating against her and her fellow illegal college students right after admitting she has lived here for over a decade illegally.
One after another, one illegal student after another, they lined up and said things like “this bill will steal our dream” or “…I can barely afford tuition now, much less if I have to pay out-of-state tuition.” All but one of the students were from Texas A&M…how did they say it…”I’m a proud Aggie of the class of 2013, and I’m an undocumented citizen.” Some contradicted themselves by suggesting they would be proud to become Americans, yet could not understand that laws are designed to protect the citizens from undue taxation, which this is. They acted as if the laws didn’t apply to them. They felt as if they deserve to continue receiving our money.
After a half dozen or so testimonies from illegal students, the Chair called our good friend Daniel Cervera. He had the benefit of hearing all testimony to that point, and when he got the opportunity to speak, he hit on all the points that were missed, driving home the message…Texas is what it is because of the rule of law, explaining to the students, “I still have family in Mexico, I don’t go down to visit them because it’s too dangerous. It’s dangerous because the laws have broken down. Unless we want that here in Texas, we have to uphold the law.”
Listen to Daniel Cervera’s testimony here –> Daniel Cervera Testimony.
Read the rest and listen to the testimony over at GOPIsForMe. I wasn’t there but it’s obvious that the Democrats demonstrated their usual contempt for the rule of law, and time after time played the one card they always carry in their hand — the race card.

What does it take to get deported these days? In a sane world, these people could have been rounded up at the door of the chamber.
I TOTALLY agree! WHERE is I.C.E. when you need/want them? They should have been put into a vehicle and immediately DEPORTED!!!
Perfect!!!
this is where meg whitman fell apart
now, texas needs to point to the importance of law in a civil society (as one of the speakers did apparently)
give a lesson how immigration, when properly executed, is a boon to our country; and let them defend the alternative; how does lawlessness help a society? (a skilled conservative could even engage the “illegal” in a dialogue– the american dream, self-sufficiency, importance of english for the individual, capitalism, our history, etc…)
it is always important to get the other side (that always asks the questions mind) to give an alternative and defend it; as well as try to have a dialogue– the left is nothing but talking points (because their principles are totalitarian in nature) so engage them in conversation
I have sympathy for folks trying to better themselves, trying to live there dream, but my children born and raised here are struggeling to keep food on the table and oil to heat there home, College is a dream for my grandaughters too, but I doubt they will have the money to go.
I am sad to say this, but ” American money for Americans ”
A sad Grandma
my opinions about the most fresh of immigrants, legal and “illegal,” are these individuals and families most open to our founding principles centered on freedom
the last thing most of them want especially the illegal ones, ironically, is any government interference (they fear, and instinctively/rightly so)– the “power” that can send them back from whence they came
the problem is when they start falling for the handouts that eventually enslave; coupled with listening to the first authority figure that begins the “group identity” slant/statist siren song
re america’s illegal immigration problem:
i feel the natural progression should start on the mexican border with our military forcibly securing our border; then building *something* (i am not an engineer or an architect but i sure someone can design a deterrent) along our southern border; during this time- we would be sending back all we could stop trying to enter the country and all government services for illegals cut
after this is done we can go to stage two
sending all illegals in prison back
sending all illegals in the criminal records for felonies and certain misdemeanors back
(i would also propose a basic american values test) for all those seeking citizenship
the focus of which would involve instinctual questions about individual responsibility/liberty; limited government and free market economics; separation of powers/competition; voluntary cooperation; etc etc…
again, one of the greatest fears of the hardcore left is a constant immigrant supply that is inherently open to the virtues of freedom
we need to be smart about this front and the best way is to do it as a very deliberate step-by-step manner and definitely not a comprehensive approach
liz’z comment triggered this spazzout and i agree with her sentiments wholly
Absolutely unbelievable to read things like this. There is in effect only law when someone says there is when they point at it or when they say so.
How can this be legal? I would’ve made a citizens arrest and let the chips fall where they may. I would’ve failed for sure. And that’s sad.
Basically everyone in the world is now, not only an American citizen, but a resentful and bitchy one.
I see no humor in it.
So here we have a bunch of people who have publicly confessed to being here illegally, with their names and everything. I would expect them all to be arrested within a day.
If I didn’t know better.
A suggestion, now the people in Texas know who some of our uninvited ‘guests’ are, move in with them – also uninvited.
To whom, and what will their complaint be?
When did we lose our common sense? Our Government, has allowed the invasion of 30 million criminals in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution. they force American tax payers to pay Billions to provide Welfare, Prison cells, Educate the invaders children, free medical care, massive document fraud, & are destroying our schools, hospitals, communities, culture while Robbing, Raping, Killing & Assaulting American Citizens WE ARE BEING INVADED! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Every Non-representative including obama and holder should be IMPEACHED! for not upholding the oath of office they swore to defend the Constitution! If these clowns were to do their job, this would all be a Moot point!
Anchors and their criminal parents go, period, and cut the phony tears, you knew you were breaking the law when you crossed the border.
Next shut down any business hiring illegal labor. Oh and owners go to jail.
Got a better idea? Lets hear it!
Excellent comment…very well stated.
This is what happens when legal Americans keep voting in illegal loving politicians who are traitors to this country and care more for illegal criminals than legal citizens. The illegals keep demanding more and more since our pols, police and pandering administation will not enforce our laws and deport those who are not authorized to be in this country. Politicians who aid and abet illegals, vote for them to receive benefits they are not entitled to and allow these criminals to brag of there crimes need to be voted out as quickly as possible.
The statements, “it’s your right,”; “You are entitled…,” are overused and abused by the Socialist/Marxist left. Illegals in this country do not have the right to flagrantly disobey the laws and expect to be rewarded. In fact, as illegal immigrants they have no rights at all. We are educating illegal immigrants while natural born citizens of the U.S. and Texas, children of immigrant parents who came legally, are unable to obtain any assistance for an education. Citizens should be first in line. Liz Levitt, you are absolutely correct, “American’s money belongs to American’s.” There are a lot of American families dealing with the same circumstances your children and grandchildren are dealing with. Obama’s economy is destroying our dollar, unemployment is much higher than 9%, and the prisons are filled with criminals who are illegal immigrants.
The statement, “I can hardly afford tuition now, much less pay out-of-state tuition…the bill will steal our dream.” What about the dream of natural born citizens? There are hundreds of young American citizens, students at junior colleges as well as major universities, struggling to pay their tuitions, working two part-time jobs, living 3-4 in an apartment or home, and get absolutely no help from student grants. They have to take out loans for their education, and work for years to pay it back. I obtained this information first hand while re-training (at my own expense) in hopes of getting a job…still looking.
This is an outrage, and I am tired of the “race card” as well. Let me set the record straight for the proud Aggie of the Class of 2013…You are an illegal immigrant, and your contempt for our laws make you unfit and unwanted. Every illegal immigrant student should have their financial support for school stopped immediately, presented a bill for any grant money/financial assistance they have been given, and if they refuse payment deported immediately along with their families. How long they have been here is not an issue…they are here illegally.
Secure our borders and halt the entitlement system to illegal immigrants and/or anyone who is not a U.S. citizen and paying their fair share. Illegal immigrants have made the American Dream into the American’s Nightmare.
Didn’t any state Senator have the cojones to order the Sergeant at Arms to arrest these criminals? Or at least demand their addresses, for referral to ICE or the Rangers?
Any repurcussions to Texas A&M University? Aren’t they in on the scam as well?
Espanol isn’t my strong suit, but if I’m translating this correctly, the fundamental message is:
“I don’t pay taxes and I’ve broken the law. Nonetheless, you OWE me.”
Silly me, I started working (and saving) at 15 in order to go to college. How dumb am I?
