Hillary on OBL – First Thoughts

Soon after waking up, I turned on FOX News to see Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking about the death of Osama Bin Laden.  Now, I admit to you that I missed the opening of her speech, and am not sure if I missed two seconds or two minutes.

However, what I heard in the remainder of her speech was a conversation of strength.  The reminder that the United States can not and will not be defeated.  The reminder that our armed forces are the best in the world.  There was, for lack of a better word if one should exist, pride in her words.  There was a connection between what has happened, and what had happened on September 11th, 2001.  Her speech this morning was, in a word, presidential.  That’s not endorsement of her policies, that’s simply recognition of a well delivered, well spoken, well designed and well connected speech.

From the speech – “”You cannot wait us out, you cannot defeat us, but you can make the choice to abandon al Qaeda and participate in a peaceful political process…”

I will post the speech here as soon as it is up.

Update: Video and transcript of Clinton’s remarks are here.

Perhaps after you see the part where Hillary Clinton spreads the credit for this across law enforcement and diplomatic channels you’ll probably revise your claim just a tad.

I am no fan of Hillary, to put it mildly.
That being said, nobody has ever seriously suggested that she’d handle foreign policy like a Jimmy Carter, either. If anything, the worry would be that she would be *too* aggressive.
