Yet another disgraceful performance from David Gregory

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell pulled an almost unspeakable smear job on Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on Meet the Press this morning. Read this transcript from host David Gregory’s roundtable discussion:

MR. LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: Well, you know, one of the things I was struck by in your interview with the governor is, just to go back to a point, is that he said that he rejected, rejected the idea of sending in troublemakers to the demonstrations. That means the idea was discussed. That means someone in the governor’s office said, “How about we send some people in there to cause physical trouble in these demonstrations?” And this governor thought about it, discussed it, rejected it. OK, he rejected it. But to say he rejected it and think, “Well, that’s the end of it, that’s a noncontroversial moment,” it’s quite shocking to think that there was a governor thinking about that. [EMPHASIS ADDED]

GOV. BARBOUR: Well, Larry, you added the word physical. Nobody ever–you could talk about should you send people out there to talk to the employees?

MR. O’DONNELL: OK, let’s, let’s just–OK, I’ll, I’ll retract that. Let’s just say troublemakers. This–it’s, it’s shocking to think the governor, among the things they were discussing was, “Should we send in troublemakers?” How long did you–would you have to discuss that?

What you don’t get from reading the text, is O’Donnell’s tone. He put the accent on “say,” as in, “Let’s just SAY troublemakers.” Let’s just say it, he intones, even though we all know Governor Walker really did consider sending thugs in to beat up peaceful union workers. O’Donnell didn’t really retract his smear at all.

And Gregory — who by my count interrupted Governor Walker at least four times earlier in the show — couldn’t find a spare moment to help Barbour correct O’Donnell. The “impartial” host let the smear stand, as though it were a petty partisan difference between his two guests.

  1. I repeat: these people are not liberals (they should never be referred to as such); they are reactionaries.

I remember O’Donnell bragging about how he knows Irish tough guys, and how O’Reilly is no Irish tough guy. I guess smearing Walker is really an Irish tough guy thing to do. Lame.

If a show has O’Donnell on it I immediately change the channel. He has an agenda and I am not going to waste my time thinking about his ambush. He is a bully but it was sure funny that he did not try to take on Ann coulter on his show the other day.
Any Conservative is a fool to be on a show where leftists like him, who actually claim and are proud of the title, Socialist, are on.

With the advent of Gregory and Christiane Amanpour, I actively avoid these Sunday a.m. “talking head” shows. Gregory is so unsophisticated he can’t (and most of the time, doesn’t even try to) disguise his blind commitment to LEFT-overs. Amanpour? How many ways can we say “inept” and “biased” and “annoying” and …

That leaves Shieffer (some semblance of journalistic integrity) and Fox for me these days. I miss watching George Will on the whosits Roundtable, but we all have to make sacrifices …

Roger L. Simon @ 1: The are indeed liberal – but only with other people’s money, which they liberally spend, and with the lives of the unborn, which they liberally dispose of; but that is where there liberalism comes to an end.

Astonishing that with the pathologically insane freakshow answers that Scott Walker gave – or should I say REFUSED to give David Gregory on why he won’t accept “yes for an answer” – not to mention the racist pig piece of filth Haley Barbour, all you pathetic Republicans who want everything – just not pay for it except with poor people’s sweat and money – all you can do is complain about a tv host?????? I truly am frightened for this country that there are monsters like you out there who actually believe a network that does nothing but like is the news!! That would be Fox NON News of course. Do any of you spend even 10 minutes dissecting their spew for accuracy? Of course not. I’m not saying CNN or others don’t have a liberal bent but they don’t systematically lie hour after hour. Fox NON News does. I am a researcher for a major corporation & many issues they lie about are issues I cover and I can tell you they just make stuff up. Oh, and for Jack in Silver Spring – “lives of the unborn”?????? OXYMORON TO THE MAX. IF THEY’RE UNBORN THEY’RE NOT ALIVE. Shame the same can’t be said about you. If any of you gave 1/2 as much care to LIVING CHILDREN as you do trying to force women to have babies – maybe that’s just envy, you poor little boys? – this world might have a chance.
