Just hours after Roger L. Simon conducted a phone interview with Sandmonkey, the Guardian is reporting that Sandmonkey has been arrested, his blog is down, and Twitter is awash with rumors of the same.
Here is Sandmonkey’s last blog post prior to going offline.
See this tweet from RamyYacoub:
I just called @SandMonkey ‘s phone and a man answered and he asked me who I am, I said where is monkey, he said your c*nt friend is arrested
1334: Ahmed Rasheed in Cairo tells the BBC: “Two of my friends have been arrested – one is the blogger Sandmonkey. They were trying to get food and medical supplies. These thugs [supporters of Mubarak] are arresting people and delivering them to the secret police. I was at the protest last night and I got injured after a stone was thrown at my head. I’m going to go back today and get food and medical supplies, if I don’t get arrested.” Sandmonkey’s blog appears to have been suspended.

his last post is reposted here:

PJM: Thank you for tracking the Sandmonkey.
Sandmonkey, a fellow blogger I’ve known from the Danish Cartoon days, says in Roger’s interview that he’d like to tell his story to Fox. Mentions Beck in particular. I suggest Roger contact Beck and also Greta Van Susteren, who is an active twitterer easy to engage online. She does great interviews of important figures others ignore.

Can someone please explain something to me? So the website sandmonkey.org has been suspended. But why? Unless I am missing something it is (was) on the servers of
Liquid Web, Inc. 4210 Creyts Rd. Lansing MI US 48917
Why the heck does an American hosting company suspend such a website? I find that quite a scandal actually. Maybe they were contacted by the Egpytian authorities asking them to shut it down. Okay, but why, again, why does an American company listen to the Egpytian authorities, especially in the current situation?
Maybe someone in the US can ask Liquid Web what is going on there?
Possible the US asked them to take it down.
OR Sandmonkey did, to protect himself.
OR (and this is actually fairly likely since the usually bill on the first) it’s just a sort of coincidence. With all that’s been going on, he may have missed paying them.
If things go badly for the protesters, I hope someone who knows these brave people can get them–whatever that status is when their government might kill them… to come here or wherever.
sorry guys…im not buying any of this, brothers are involved, Israel gas lines attacked…your protest is off, mubarak still there…no peace with sharia
