In the latest edition of POLIWOOD, Lionel and I discuss what the new Obama Adminstration means to Hollywood – how movies will change, if they do. We hope you like it. This edition is free for non-subscribers. Earlier ones, if you missed them, ask you to register. That’s it. We’re still in beta, but I am pleased to say response to this show has been surprisingly good for a couple of geezers swapping war stories. In this one, of course, we focus in on the amazingly successful Emanuel Brothers – Rahm and Ari – who are taking over Washington and Hollywood. Feedback appreciated.
New POLIWOOD – The Emanuel Brothers take over the White House and Tinseltown

I really loved your " comments. Quite good.
Thanks for the fix
So how long do I have to wait for the MSM to go after the power behind The One, the Neo-Lib Jews, like they did the Neo-Cons and their control over ChimpBush?
Mr. Olberman, over to you.
Roger, I don’t think you’re a geezer.
Age hath not wither’d, nor custom staled, your infinite variety.
Jamie Irons
Appreciate that, Jamie. As you might guess, reference was something of a “preemptive strike.” Get them before they get you…. I noticed some of our moveon friends often call me a “geezer” when they choose not to address my arguments.
Roger,
I could listen to you ‘two geezers’ swap stories for a good part of the day. My wife may have something to say about it but that’s another movie.
Easy banter…keeping it light…clearly you are good friends who enjoy each others company.
All good.
I do wonder, however, given the seemingly endless attacks by the very liberal/biased MSM regarding John McCain’s age and subsequent peril he was going to put our country in should he ‘kick the bucket’ on day one, if in fact the ‘youth obsessed’ ‘product placement’ ‘vertical integration’ Guys and Dolls who run Hollywood today are capable of connecting the dots and up to the task of making a great movie musical as pitched by two ‘wonderful old geezers’ such as you and Lionel.
(whew! can you say run on sentence?)
Maybe I am a bit more jaded. The movies you were discussing all had ‘heart and soul’. Great stories made by people who cared and loved MOVIES!
I almost prefer to stay home most times and click on TCM to get my fix. Although I miss the magic of sitting in the darkness of that grand auditorium and watching actors such as Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, and David Niven in a classic like, ‘The Guns of Navarone’ up there on the big screen.
Sorry for getting off track…it’s feedback you wanted.
I agree, ‘Jersey Boys’ could be a good one.
As for one of my old favorites, I’ll go with ‘The Unsinkable Molly Brown’ for now.
Just love a good lookin’ gal with a little moxie to boot.
Anyway…
Keep up the good work Roger and take care,
Jimmy
Roger,
Lose that ‘old’ from ‘geezer’ keep the ‘wonderful’ though.
Long night…
All the best,
Jimmy

how did they give so much? isn’t there a limit of 2,300 (twice, I think) per family?
Does anyone know the amt. from Oprah, that would probaby be in the ? million $ figure. I imagine since they are all more than likely corporations the amt. permitted would be more than individual donations.
The British use the word “geezer” and mean it like an American ‘DUDE”, which the westen cowboy’s might say ” he is a real sharp dresser” or “Jim Dandy”
and Roger, take it this way, as a geezer you & Lionel will never be. You both have too much going for you, just keep it up.
Will movies change? I think the current formulas will, if anything, be reenforced.
I just saw a film called Role Models, praised to the skies in the reviews I read, an utterly forgettable formula picture in my opinion. What I noticed – maybe those completely soaked in our present culture don’t even register it anymore – is that the two black characters in the film have one and only one function: to crap on whitey. Whitey, of course, just takes it, that’s his formulaic roll.
That formula, among several others that advance today’s debased liberal agenda, will continue. Why shouldn’t it? Where’s the opposition? Oh yeah, the opposition has been marginalized at best, criminalized at worst. Welcome to the wonderful world of tolerance.
ricpic:
Yeah, but action movies like Iron Man make a lot more money. And these Hollywood liberals all love money.
Terrye,
We all want to be achievers and make money, it is not a left or right love fest, it is what makes this country what it is, a Democratic Society. We are all in a
financial shut down and even Hollywood is suffering big time. The loss of homes is from the bottom up, many are those that build the sets, drive the vans, scout locations, just the workers behind the scenes. We all need to let the writers and directors know what we want to see on both the big screen and in the home and if the public stop’s paying to see violence, violence will stop being what they produce. What Roger & Lionel discussed was so true
& to the point, musical’s with real story content needs to be brought back, film with family content, their are so many good mystery books out their that not violent, just good mysteries, futuristic film with interaction. On cable we can see old westerns and they still draw a big audience, at least big enough to pay the bill, so there must be an audience that would love to see new ones that show the today cowboys in America and country musicals would intro-duce the new Annie Oakley’s, Gene Autry’s, in other words a more peaceful society, but this time around we will break the color barrier and be stronger for it.
Money is not evil, greed is when it is not working for you and the public.
As I said over at PJTV, where is the Fred and Ginger love? Sad!
Hey, Ron… I love Fred and Ginger too. We’ll show some love on a future show. (But I love Fred and Cyd even more!)
