I was just leaving Lanier High School in Austin to get a good spot to see President Kennedy–who was scheduled to arrive later from Dallas–when I heard the news about the assassination. It was bad enough without being a birthday. Hope this one’s happier for you Roger.
On occasions such as this, a malady known as acquired memory deficiency syndrome strikes many American families and is the subtle scourge of many a thanksgivings. I’m glad to report that ours will readily deny suffering from any such thing but will hastily, upon un-sobering reflection, admit to being in the forgive and forget camp.
We traveled yesterday from NJ to GA without any problems what so ever.

If you were to know us, you would think that the red sox victory would be a source plenty for conversation material.
Not my father, informing us that it is his belief that those bugs that (literally) plagued the Yankees in Cleveland were a God send. My father is the kind of fan that has suffered so much that a defeat of the yanks holds more meaning than victory for any one else, including our red sox.
I’m convinced that the red sox victories are a kind of an inconvenience to my father. His memories of defeat at the hands of the yanks are in some strange way more vivid than the recent victories by the sox.
So we do not argue. We find something else we may have missed about how rotten Billy Martin was.
