The only difference between Hamas and Fatah is Fatah under Arafat was more subtle. They both had the same goals, Fatah just did a better job of spin and muted their comments when dealing with the western press. Hamas is simply ending the con job and has dropped the charade of declaring their wish for a stable two state solution.
