Oil-for-Food Alert!

March 27, 2005 - 6:06 pm - by Roger L Simon

Before 10PM Pacific this evening, I will be posting some extraordinary new information regarding the Volcker Committee’s Oil-for-Food investigation that will be from sources special to this blog.

MEANWHILE, as a warm-up, Austin Bay has a question for you.

You shoulda worked for Hearst! :-)

  2. 2. Solomon

Oh man, that’s 1am here! Tease!

  3. 3. yama-arashi

The theater fills. A packed house. The anticipated opening night. Tragedy? Comedy? A bit of both?

  4. If we’re lucky, Kofi’s gonna pull a Bud Dwyer impersonation during the next General Assembly…

  5. 5. BurbankErnie

    Souds like a Drudge headline….

    Maybe you need a siren….

  6. It’s 19:44 hrs PST tick, tick, tick, . . .

Agent Bauer (FOX 24 hrs) is single handedly fighting global terrorism, disarming dirty nukes, and containing bio weaps deployment.

Let me see, I know, I know.

This a grand conspiracy put in motion by the Neocons led by Bush/Chenney. This was all charade. This was an elaborate spy vs spy vs spy (Ala Madd Magazine) double reverse money laundering scheme to destablize the ME and take the UN down at the sametime leaving Kofi, his son, the French, and Saddam all holding the bag.

  7. 7. Jon Ravin

Shhhhh, Ron! Don’t give our secrets away like that! Oy vey!

  8. 8. Buddy Larsen

Report on Austin Bay “who for the new UN SecGen?” link: every fifth post says “it’s not an American’s turn”, 3 of the other 4 nominate Americans anyway, and the remaining 20% go for Havel.

  9. 10PM Pacific . . . So that’s like 8AM if you’re on the normal coast right? ;-)

  10. 10. UML Guy

    Eric,

    There’s a normal coast?

And it’s ten hours ahead of Pacific time?

That would make it, what, Istanbul? Jerusalem?

  11. 11. Buddy Larsen

Well, heh heh, the normal coast is down here, the Gulf.

I assume the big news is that Kofi is resigning, to avoid “even the appearance of a conflict of interest.” And actually, itís to do the kind of full-time CYA he needs to do.

From a US perspective, Hernando de Soto is probably the best replacement choice, with a chance. He’s pro-capitalist and pro-democracy. That’s probably not true of most of the candidates with a chance to get it.

  13. Maybe Kofi is taking it on the lam and there’s a high speed chase on the New York Thruway as he tries to get to Canada!

  14. 14. Buddy Larsen

If Kofi resigns, look for international Soros-gangster Richard Holbrooke to try to hog in and slurp up some credit for something or other.

  15. 15. Ron Wrght

For SQ of UN. Why not one of our friends from the post nuclear world of the Simpsons!

Homer (perfect choice), Bart (nothing will get by him), Marge (A role model for women), Lisa (a brain), and of course Flanders (Ideal choice for the religious right). Of course we shouldn’t overlook Crusty the Clown but that might be too close to the current SG.

US choices – Colin Powell, Dr. Rice (But we need her at Secretary of State), Bill Clinton (After all he and Bush I are the best of friends now), and Rummy (But we need to win the GWOT).

If the SG can’t be from the US then Vaclav Havel is the clear choice. Someone from the former Eastern Block that has firsthand experience with a regime change to a democracy.

    HT Cracker Barrel

    Yeah that’s right!

It’s the French Connection all over again, Kofi’s looted the UN and he’s on the run with the money. High speed pursuit now in progress in downtown Manhantten. CBS, NBC, ABC all have newscopters following chase.

BREAKING we now have Kofi on the cellphone. Jessie Jackson’s on the phone now negotiating Kofi’s surrender to NYPD and asylum in Cuba. Helicopter is on standby at the UN. Of course Jessie has eye’s on the SG for one of his associates – OJ needs a new gig.

Let’s see 22:00 hrs PST (West Coast) That means Roger has a source that’s provided news lead that’s in a news article that’s in the can in a West Coast Paper. All the East Coastie papers went to be several hours ago.

West Coast papers go to print about that time.Let’s see will it be the liberal rag LA Times. Once in print it’s fair game for ever one and Roger can break the story to the Blogos

Now this is all exciting. At least this is more newsworthy than the Wacko Jacko trial and the Terri Schiavo family’s tragedy that’s been blown all over the world.

But have we seen one word on the Iran riots on Friday. The BBC ran a lame feed from official Iranian gov’t news sources. For some real hard core news check today’s update by Dr. Zin at Regime Change Iran at:

    Link Here

BTW does anyone in So Cal have a decent Pent IV level laptop that they would be willing to part with CHEAPLY? Dr. Zin’s rig is grinding slowly to a stop and we have a regime change underway in Iran. Donations can be channeled thru an appropriate non-profit for tax deduction :-) .

I have no nomination for Annan’s successor. In my opinion, the United Nations should be allowed to die the ignominious death it deserves. Perhaps then we free and democratic nations of the world could build an institution actually worthy of respect and support. Perhaps.

Is the Manolo available for the Secretary General post?
