North Korea Watch

March 23, 2005 - 7:54 am - by Roger L Simon

TigerHawk thinks Condi played hardball in Beijing, resulting in new Chinese pressure on the NORKS.

Since North Korea can’t feed its people or make electricity or power its military without China, Hu Jintao has it within his means to make something happen here. Having dithered for months and blown off the last “six party” talks, why did Hu Jintao summon the North Koreans now? Because of Bush unilateralism!

Intriguing.

UPDATE: Here’s more evidence of interesting back-channel negotiations. Well, not quite “evidence” but still worth a look.

I wonder what kind of threats were made . . . naaah, don’t want to know!

  2. You havenít seen anything yet. Condi Rice will become even more effective when John Bolton becomes our next UN ambassador. He will play the ìbad copî role while Condi plays the ìgoodî one.

I won’t comment on the post. But just a question for Harry? Was that fun? I for one could not imagine feeling somehow satisfied making a comment like yours above. To echo our good friend Harry, but without the grammatical errors, it is (or if you prefer: it’s) a shoddy comment. It is (or if you prefer: it’s) clear that “Harry” does not know what he is talking about. (If he did he would not be wasting his time making shoddy comments like that.) Actually I am a fan of yours Harry. I really wish you would start your own blog. I would read it. I would even leave a comment now and then. But I would never be your blog’s Harry. I just can’t understand the pleasure gained, and certainly with comments like yours you are not looking for intellectual engagement. But maybe even this will anger you and you’ll end up offending me, your supporter, with your reply. Or, over time, perhaps you’ll prove me right. It would take a lot of work on your part though. And if you did it would really help me out, as I’d finally have proof to counter all the people who think I am a bad judge of character.

[Time wasn't on your side Harry. And you did step over, well over, and time and time again, the very generous line provided you by our host. Now you have even more time for all the work you need to do. You know, civility, rigor in thought, etc, etc... A great favor really.]
