An excellent commentary. And this is a good exclamation mark to Sec. Rice’s comments about Europeans versus Americans.

That was good. It made me feel better about the people we elect to office, both Democrats and Republicans.

Nice commentary. I enjoyed the remark by Horst Kohler, the German president, that “Unless we tackle global poverty, long-term security will remain elusive.” The idea that poverty is responsible for all problems is a long standing bit of nonsense that the left that never seems to let go of. Economic determinism is not a fact, it is merely a founding myth of the Marxist strand of leftism. Culture, religion, morals, liberty, and good government all have more effect than poverty IMHO. Nor do I think they all follow irrevocably from economics.

Come on Horst — dictatorship is the new poverty. Get on board.

Brooks was on C Span this weekend talking about Tom Wolfe’s latest book “I am Charlotte Simmons.”

Today, he writes an insightful piece about European “statesmen” [description used advisedly]and the American senators and their contact with the reality of war.

Each Friday, pitted on Lehrer’s NewHour with Democratic mouthpiece Mark Shields, the contrast of thoughtfulness, intellect and insight between Shields and him is, week in and week out, patently obvious, that it is embarassing for PBS.

I continually ask why PBS puts them together, and. then I understand that PBS is so filled with Democratic shills and whores, they can’t let Shields go.
