Oddly enough (or not), my only active memory of the 1960 Democratic convention is Eleanor Roosevelt nominating Adlai for president. We liked Ike in my house (surprise!), but I’ve always been drawn to the bookish, brainy types and Mrs. Roosevelt made him sound so appealing that I found I was disappointed when the Dems declined to give him a third bite.
RIP Mr. Davis, from a long-time fan.
