Roll Call of Naysayers

Will they acknowledge they might have been wrong — or will they just rephrase the argument? It’s kind of a test of adulthood.

TV reporters exist for their ability to read a Q card and look pretty. Opinions, presented with the finest theatrical glow, are facile, not well informed and scripted. Except for Terrence Smith and Gwen Ifill (Lehrer NewsHour, former Times reporters), is there another major TV reporter who has a real journalistic background? Besides their “ghosted” books (Jennings and Brokaw), no anchor or major reporter possesses any credentials noteworthy for an academic or foreign affairs or historical background.

For the record, I saw Steve Harrigan on with John Gibson earlier this week, and he expressed pleasant surprise that things had gone so well. And he seemed genuinely pleased, unlike the professional Eeyores at CNN…. Actually, the surprise for me is not that he happily admitted that he was wrong, but that he was so pessismistic in the first place.

    The problem is two-fold.

Number one, most of the media is liberal and supports the Democratic Party (dah).

Secondly, they do not have any policy initiatives or alternatives from their chosen party that make for exciting reporting.

Therefore, what remains is critizising the President and portraying his agenda as reckless and irresponsible.

I don’t understand how the elections could be considered “illegitimate” if some chose not to vote. Have we ever called our elections “illegitimate” because nearly half the nation stays home? No. They were free to vote. If they choose not to excersize that right, they simply shouldn’t get a say in what happens. You can’t tell me that a low Sunni turn out was because each one of them was held back physically at gun point by their very own personal terrorist. Most of the ones who didn’t participate didn’t because some jerk water Imam told them not to. Nope, not good enough. Sorry. And our illustrious “reporters” lend creedence to it. Meh.
