More disturbing material about CNN News Chief Eason Jordan has appeared on Captain’s Quarters (keep scrolling). (Among other things, Jordan appeared to accuse US troops of targetin journalists in Irag… and, yes, there’s more…) A blog swarm seems to be forming and, even though such swarms, in and of themselves, do not appeal to me (I prefer to lay out), this story is deeply troubling. Outside the United States, CNN is the face of American television news and what they broadcast is taken (incorrectly, of course) as the view of our country in foreign places. Special responsibility would appear to devolve from that. Even if Mr. Jordan is merely loose-lipped (not infrequently, if one believes the reports on CQ,), he is not the kind of personality who should be managing an international news network. CNN, which has lost many viewers recently here in their home country, should pay attention.

    Roger:

I received the response from CNN and it made no sense. It says that his comments were taken out of context but it did not deny that he used the word targeted. It stated that the military apologized for the deaths of certain journalists but then tried to draw a distinction between the apology and collateral damage. The way I understood it the army apologized for the accidental death of the journalists, not for assasinating them. I replied and asked them for a transcript.

CNN never ceases to amaze. Several of my colleagues (of a different ideological ilk than I) have suggested that CNN is deliberately moving to the left as a way to counter FOX. What? Are you serious? Moving to the left? Let’s not forget the recent comments by CNN’s notorious founder comparing our commander-in-chief to Hitler. CNN, a mere shadow of its former self, appears to be tumbling from laughable to frightening. Even the network’s so-called business program, Moneyline, has been hijacked by organized labor’s favorite apologist, Lou Dobbs.
