Theo Van Gogh’s film about the murder of Pim Fortyn has opened in Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Hollywood continues to be silent about the murder of Van Gogh himself. Oh, well, ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Or ignorance, anyway.
Besides, in what the WaPo informs us is an “opening to the West,” the mullahs are allowing “Kill Bill” and “Fahrenheit 911″ to play in Tehran. Wonder why they chose those movies? (hat tips: AB & JP)

ìMeanwhile, Hollywood continues to be silent about the murder of Van Gogh himself.î
I am sure that the Hollywood elite rationalizes its ignoring of Theo Van Goghís murder because of his harsh language towards Islamic extremism. The man was not supposedly acting in a pluralistic manner and deserved to die. That is their subconscious response—and maybe even a few of them will candidly admit this to be the case. Van Goghís murderer is also dark skinned and dark haired. He therefore can only be perceived as a victim.
The real reason Hollywood isn’t mentioning Theo va Gogh’s murder couldn’t be that he wasn’t,er,famous? Could It?
He’s famous now.

Nope, Theo Van Gogh was the wrong color. If he were a brown skinned Muslim criticizing white Nazis—they would turn him into a secular saint.
Michael Moore must be so proud.
Maybe his movie will inspire more extremists to kill more people like Van Gogh. I hear it is a hit in the ME, helps them justify their murderous hatred of Americans in general.
And Kill Bill, just imagine why this movie gets shown. Evil.. vile.. decadent.. violent.. insane.. western women.
As far as Hollywood is concerned I am begionning to think they are hopeless. Except for Roger of course.
Terrye,
The ironic thing is that the people of the Middle East will despise Moore for this, they cannot understand disloyalty to ones own.
Peter:
I think they also know he is a parasite.
I guess they must like Q. Tarantino (who was on the Cannes board that gave him the Palme d’Or).
Maybe Hollywood doesn’t say anything is because of their own personal insecurities.
Hollywood personalities always want to be liked. They crave approval (except by Republicans and ‘right-wingers’, because all their Hollywood ‘froends’ say those people don’t count.), and don’t want any negative publicity by denouncing Islamic murderers.
If a Hollywood actor or producer actually said something that would get Islamic murderers upset, the French may say rude things abouth them and deny them prestigious seats at Cannes.
Hollywood liberals prefer being pampered and liked by those who they perceive are important. They do not want to lose this feeling and so, would prefer to remain silent while convincing themselves they are in the right.
There are a handful in Hollywood who have seen the growing danger. Unfortunately there are still too few of these to make a difference with the well-financed producers and high-profile movers and shakers.
In another “opening to the West”, Teheran is allowing the publication of two Western books – “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” and “Mein Kampf”.
Because Theo Van Gogh wasn’t famous?
Neither was Alan Berg.
