… (it does get a little tedious and self-important, doesn’t it?… I mean who cares, right?)… But at long last someone is making sense of all this.

OUCH !!! Tiresome and Dreary! There is no way to respond to this kind of thinking! Did I say thinking?

  2. 2. Yehudit

What’s scary is I know people who talk like this. what do you do when reality is beyond parody?

Why have a blog if you’re not going to be tedious and self-important on occaision?

Btw, I’m way more intelligent (by test score only) than either major party candidate for President (assuming you think the extrapolations are correct,) so, by all means, write me in if you think either Bush or Kerry isn’t intelligent enough for the job. I possess the necessary qualifications and I promise you’ll get just the kind of leadership you deserve.

Why allow comments if you’re not going to let your readers be tedious and self-important on occaision?

Thank you, in advance, for your support.

    9 days to go.

Can anybody tell me how many days to go? I can’t count or use a calander.

  5. 5. richard mcenroe

Flenser ó You mean a calendar. A calander is one of those things you strain spaghetti in, you ittilerate you.

And I’m voting for Kerry because we need the kind of leadership in this country only Louis XIV or Charles II can provide, and he’s the closest we crude colonials are gonna get…

A few prizes I’ve seen around the web…

o I’m voting for Kerry because he’s so awful that the Democratic Party will be forced to clean up its act – and he can’t help but finish the job in Iraq. And Bush didn’t fire Rumsfeld when I insisted that he do so!

o I’m voting for Kerry because of his approach to deep cogitating and elaborate pondering, versus Bush’s seat-of-the-pants approach. After all, the more you think about a problem and study it, preferably with a committee of slow, careful thinkers at your disposal, the more likely you’ll come up with the perfect solution.

o I’m voting for Kerry because Bush isn’t a conservative, and I want the Republicans to clean up their act! Even though I’d rather Bush win, I’m not voting for him.

    Anyway, here’s mine: I’m voting for Bush…

But he forgot the most important reason of all:

Vote for Kerry because he’s the Democratic Party’s Herbert Hoover – meaning he’ll fuck up so badly that he’ll flip the majority to the other party for 3 generations.

    :)

  8. The sad thing is that true Kerry supporters like Kevin Drum and Oliver Willis won’t come up with smarter reasons.

  9. 9. wxjames

With my vote, I’m voting for Bush, because Kerry is a lunatic. Keep an eye on those lunar phases.

With my second and third vote, I’m voting for Kerry, ’cause they pay better than the honest (cheap) republicans.

If I get to vote more then that, I’ll vote for Bush again and again and again.

I believe that will force them (lawyers 4 Kerry) to fork up more $ per vote so I can clean up on E day.

I’m done with politics for this last week of the campaign.

    My ’roundup’ is here.

    Roger:

I agree with your comment about the self-importance factor with various various bloggers “declaring” who they are going to vote for. With rare exceptions, it is not as though there is much doubt on their views in the first place, and the “World is Watching” tone of voice to some of these posts is fairly comical.

As an election lawyer, my advice for those bloggers and others–present host/company excepted, of course– who have yet to weigh in on this question would be to redirect some of that time and go volunteer to be a poll watcher. This may not be quite as glamorous as a stone tablet from the Blogosphere, but every useful act like this matters in the next 7 days.
