…to the phony liberals(?) at ABC who pulled a full sentence out of a quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger to distort completely what he meant. I guess to the gang at ABC the ends do justify the means. (Been there. Done that. Died in the Gulag.) And to think that the real verbatim quote was in Reuters. Who’d a thunk it?
(hat tip: Yehudit)

Well, it looks like somebody was paying attention in the “Dowdism 101″ class.
Roger:
This is just another example of how on the button the Newsweek reporter who said that the MSM is in the bag for Kerry. You have to work hard to take the original quote from Arnold and turn it into what ABC did. This wasn’t editing to save space. This was editing to take the quote and turn it into something the speaker never intended to say. This is agenda journalism that Pravda would have been proud of. This hack should be forced to explain his rational for intentionally distorting someones thinking. This isn’t journalism, this is propaganda.
Ah, but was there a memo on it…. remember, they were wrong but accurate!
ìThis isn’t journalism, this is propaganda.î
These ìjournalistsî are the progeny of Joseph Goebbels. And no, one is not exaggerating when pointing this out. The liberal media of today do not hesitate to lie on behalf of Terry McAuliffeís Democratic Party. Stephen Greeen over at Vodkapundit.com is finally realizing just how evil these particular Democrats are:
ìThe rules don’t matter. The reputation of the country doesn’t matter. The political health of the nation doesn’t matter. Power matters.
I don’t mean to say that Republicans haven’t used dirty tricks, or won’t in the future. But I have yet to see them pull anything as crass as replacing a losing candidate with a more-popular one just weeks before election day, and in violation of state law. I have yet to see Republicans calling on the world’s most corrupt international organization, run largely by apparatchiks from the world’s most brutal dictatorships, to pass judgment on how we run our elections. I have yet to see the Republicans encouraging their own to commit fraud by shouting “Fraud!” where none yet exists, putting at risk everything we’ve built here in the last 228 years.
Because, in the end, that’s what the national Democrats are doing: They’re trying, however inadvertently, to destroy the Republic in order to rule it.î

Vodkapundit is not a right winger. Green is somebody who wishes that he did not have to vote for George W. Bush. However, todayís national Democratic Party is too vile to possess power during this dangerous era of global terrorism.
This kind of thing is not only wrong, it is supid. Did it not occur to them that someone would have the real quote? Like maybe even the man that said it?
“This kind of thing is not only wrong, it is supid. Did it not occur to them that someone would have the real quote? Like maybe even the man that said it?”
I’m sorry–but you may be wrong. The MSM knows that the initial story often is all that matters. Most people read the headlines, but not the correction buried on the back pages. By the time the public realizes the error, John Kerry might be elected president.
Well, at least they didn’t screw around with half-measures; when they shade a meaning, they really shade it. This is 180 degrees. Where are the tort lawyers when you need ‘em? Sometimes I wonder if the readers of this site, say, have been ‘harmed’ by CBS, ABC, and NBC, which got a pass for the Fortunate Son-coordinated Kitty Kelly Jamboree. Terrye, Dave, what does ‘supid’ mean? Lemme guess, an acronym for “savage, ultra-partisan integrity-detour?”
Kitty’s Big Coke Expose was going to let voters have their own (thus powerful) “Aha” moment via the missed physical (dopers can’t pass ‘em). If this wasn’t a plot, then why did so many ‘missed physical’ firecrackers pop, even as Dan Rather’s head exploded? Even on Fox, Juan Williams must’ve brought up the ‘missed physical’ 50 times in that week. If Bush cmpgn had pulled that? Oh, momma!
News Flash: Maureen Dowd now works for ABC.
Mind-boggling. And at the same time, just business as usual with our media.
Roger, I notice that LGF is reporting a huge increase in traffic. I wonder if this is not an indication that more and more people are getting catching on the fact that they are being lied to and are actively seeking out information online. Are you seeing a similar increase in visitors? If the word gets out of what the media are up to it would be the end for Kerry.
I don’t know, flenser. Seems to be some kind of wall. Forgerygate revealed it. MSM may get even worse, now they’ve sized up the consequences–and found them paltry. Depressing as hell.
Roger’s posting awards the O.N. award “to the PHONEY liberals”. Regretfully, one must ask,”What is liberal that is not phoney?”
As a former semi-liberal, I have over the past three decades gradually and reluctantly come to the conclusion that liberalism fails reality-testing. The premises are wrong, so the conclusions of liberal thought are painfully wrong also, inevitably. Basic logic.
Devoted liberals are clutching an ethos based on false assumptions; similar to economists who assume a rational consumer, from whose putative rationality some rational conclusions can be projected or drawn. Not so, which ‘not’ is nevertheless the basis for most advertising.
The Note also made the following error. It reported:
TERESA HEINZ KERRY RELEASES 2003 TAX FORMS
PAYS $798,820 ON $2,291,137 OF GROSS INCOME, OR 34.9%
MAKES $2,781,791 OF TAX-EXEMPT INCOME
Based on the numbers ABC presented THK had $5,072,928 of “gross income”; tax exempt income is still “gross income” its just not taxable. $2,291,137 is her taxable income or adjusted gross income, not her gross income.
The tax rate on her taxable income may be 34.9%, but her tax rate on gross income or her effective tax rate is 15.7% ($798,820 of taxes/ $5,072,928 of gross income).
THK’s effective tax rate is lower than that of most Americans earning under $200,000 (because of the social security/self employment tax that stops after $85,000 of earned income). If President Bush’s tax reduction were repealed there would be no significant effect on Ms. Heinz-Kerry’s taxes as close to 55% of her income is tax exempt ($2,781,791/$5,072,928) and Bush’s tax relief did not change that income from taxable to nontaxable.
