Thanks for the link, Roger. I’ve read this post several times and plan on passing it on.
I read this through baldilocks as well and was happy to have an observation on human nauture confirmed: Humans are born with self-preservation as our primary urge. We age and hone that urge using tools such as territorial violence against any perceived threat–in the same way that a tribal group or animal pack will have the strongest emerge as their leader. That primal and un-polished urge was possibly described in Biblical writings as “original sin”. One form or other of enlightenment may brighten our lives and illuminate the soul to the concepts of love, honor, spiritual growth, civility, etc., and it is that growth that allows us to become more human by seeking to be closer to God. Maybe it is that growth that is the “deliverance through grace” that Southern preachers exclaim about every first and third Sunday.
In any case I was delighted to read that at least two more members of the animal kingdom have become human. More power to them, and their friends and families. Now to furhter sharpen their skills and improve their personalities by shedding that awful “socialist” identity.
