Spontaneous Uprising or Premeditated Murder?
It’s a long, long way from John Bolton. This morning, Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made the rounds on television talk shows. She was peddling the administration’s desperate fantasy narrative that the murders on September 11 (September 11, Kemo Sabe!) of four U.S. diplomats, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were not premeditated attacks. No, no. That would have been impossible. We had it on the highest authority, namely from El Presidente himself, that the day he was inaugurated “Muslim hostility will cease.” So: those couple hundred chaps, with RPGs in tow, “spontaneously” assembled outside the consulate in Benghazi. Apparently, they just spontaneously knew the ambassador would be there, even though the visit was “confidential.” They also spontaneously knew the layout of the compound and the location of his safe house. I guess there must also be some way to spontaneously equip yourself with RPGs and (according to some reports) mortars in that poverty-stricken city. It’s by no means clear that anyone in Libya had actually seen the 13-minute video Innocence of Muslims. But according to Ambassador Rice, that amateur work of anti-Muslim propaganda was so powerful that it precipitated the spontaneous attack.
Take a look at the clips: You can almost see Ambassador Rice asking herself, “I wonder if they’ll buy it?”
The president of Libya didn’t. Like most people who have bothered to review the incident, he concluded that the attacks were “no doubt” premeditated.
Indeed. But the miasma of official mendacity lies thick and acrid about this whole incident. Consider, to take only what I think is the single most repellent bit of truth twisting, Secretary of State Hillary’s Clinton’s plaintive observation that “Libyans carried Chris’s body to the hospital.”
Pause to wipe a tear and sigh over the spectacle of brotherhood Secretary Clinton had conjured up. The idea was that the people we had (as Secretary Clinton put it) “liberated” joined together in sorrow and respect to bear the body of their country’s guest to a hospital.
That, as Mark Steyn noted, is “one way of putting it.” Secretary Clinton did not accompany her statement with any photographs. Indeed, the Obama administration pleaded with news outlets not to publish any photographs. I think you’ll understand why. Here’s one:
“Libyans carried Chris’s body to the hospital.” Maybe they ended up at the hospital, but that was after they dragged the dead or nearly dead body of Chris Stevens triumphantly through the streets of Benghazi, snapping pictures of the fallen American with their iPhones.
As Mark goes on to observe,
The photographs at the Arab TV network al-Mayadeen show Chris Stevens’s body being dragged through the streets, while the locals take souvenir photographs on their cell phones. A man in a red striped shirt photographs the dead-eyed ambassador from above; another immediately behind his head moves the splayed arm and holds his cell-phone camera an inch from the ambassador’s nose. Some years ago, I had occasion to assist in moving the body of a dead man: We did not stop to take photographs en route. Even allowing for cultural differences, this looks less like “carrying Chris’s body to the hospital” and more like barbarians gleefully feasting on the spoils of savagery.
“Gleefully feasting on the spoils of savagery.” That sums up the foreign fruits of Barack Obama’s accommodationist policy toward Islam. At home, meanwhile, we have the spectacle of a midnight raid by brownshirted enforcers to arrest the man whose crime was making a video that El Presidente didn’t like:
We also have the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff calling Rev. Terry Jones, a private citizen, to cajole him into withdrawing his support for the video.
The former outrage is beginning to attract some of the outrage and disgust it deserves. The action of General Martin Dempsey, however, has yet to receive the public outcry it deserves. I remember once when I was flown out for an overnight visit to an aircraft carrier I was surprised that everyone, even high-ranking officers, addressed me deferentially as “Sir.” I asked the lieutenant commander who was shepherding me around about it. “All civilians outrank us,” he explained. “We work for you.” Somehow, I don’t think General Dempsey sees it that way. Which is another reason he should resign.
Watching Amb Rice this AM it struck me that she may actually believe that pile of poop she spouted. And if she knows she’s lying she also knows that nobody in BigMedia is going to call her on it. The ABNBCBNNSBC record is clear.

What I don’t understand it why is the ambassador to the UN the administration’s spokesperson on this whole fiasco? Where is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? I cannot recall a single other example of a UN ambassador explaining to the American people what happened to State Department employees at a State Department complex in a foreign country. I was recently attracted to this blog after readings in some of Mr. Kimball’s books which I found very interesting and enlightening. It pains me to see this sort of posting follows his blog entry–I know it shouldn’t but I hoped to see more thoughful commentary being shared here. Just think of it – Anyone in the world with even the most rudimentary cinematic vision is now capable of producing and distributing a motion picutre via You Tube that will plunge a good portion of the planet into chaos. You don’t need a studio or a budget or even actors. Just sitting here at my computer with my Photoshop and other devices I could (probably) create a “movie” that is sufficiently unwelcome to Islam to inspire widespread rioting and get it out to millions. From what I can see nobody is buying the line that all of this was “sponaneous” except for the most stalwart of administration shills. What is most obvious is that after four years of Obamaite groveling toward the rest of the world that “new respect” he promised for the United States still eludes us. In regards to the Middle East, the radical Muslim project of putting Islam above and beyond the give-and-take of public debate continues apace. It is clear that our Western elites are buckling and more and more of them are willing to impose self-censorship where Islam is concerned.

We’ve got bigger problems than this, too. We need to know how these terrorists knew the ambassador would be in a specific place and at a specific time, and we need to know how the terrorists knew the ambassador was being moved to a supposedly “safe” house. Also, what was the American ambassador doing in an area with known al Qaeda terrorists on the anniversary of 9/11? Why wasn’t he staying in the more secure embassy in Tripoli? These are critical questions that need to be answered. Somebody at the State Department or the White House screwed up big time. And the more the administration tries to hide it, the worse it’s going to be when the real truth finally does come out.
Perhaps the ambassador was a true believer who subscribed to an ethical standard. That alone has been known to bring the best of loyal democrat administrative types working for Hillary to early dirt naps or various forms of Arkancide.

The failure to secure our personnel in Libya, and elsewhere, on the anniersary of 9/11 was a major, major screw-up that had fatal consequences – and with warnings from the Libyan government no less! What the hel# was he doing at an unsecured consulate in Benghazi on that date? Big time firings are in order, but it will never happen. Obama will fire Hillary only in your dreams, and after the election, even if they lose, no one will be made to pay, because incoming administrations never want to take recriminations on outgoing ones – and rightly so, I suppose.
Unfortunately I read several progressive posts insulting Mark Steyn’s excellent assessment of the Arab Spring blow out and unfortunately then watched excerpts of Face the Nation and some clips of Sect. Rice on OH NO, Fox News.
Romney on Face the Nation was framed as someone stepping out of his element and position and trampling on the good works and intentions of Pres. Obama, as well as the office of the Presidency itself.

Pres. Reviewing the cards, I conclude:
The US press is biased, almost completely biased, toward a liberal ideology. They are incapable of straight reporting.
Our government is incompetent. Ambassador Stevens appears to have essentially committed suicide. Neither he, or his bosses, appear to have a clue. As a result of their incompetency, lousy decision making, the world is more dangerous today, than on Sept. 11,2012.
There are tens of millions of decent Muslims, but for reasons unknown to me, they are wholly dominated by extremely violent killers. They do not rise up, when their holy book is grievously violated by Muslims. No other culture today is as violent; no other culture holds to a Salafi mentality, convert or die. America endured this, somewhat, in the 19th century, with native American tribes, before the invention of the machine gun, or A bomb.
Two things are needed:
We must replace incompetent decision makers in the US government, at many levels, and
both cultures must stop lying to themselves, about right and wrong.

This Administration has a lot to answer for, where was Ambassador Stevens for the hours he was missing and what happened to him? Some in the foreign press are reporting he was raped, look at the picture of his “rescuers” dragging his body, look at the belt, it is not buckled and only partially visible.
The rules of engagement and security was signed off by the State Department in 2011. Yes, Susan Rice and team will continue to blame the video, how convenient they divert attention from their major errors in judgment.

The entire situation with the Middle East attacks smells of a setup. The embassies were poorly guarded. Information about the return of the U.S. ambassador to Libya was apparently leaked. Egyptian security forces had information about an attack as early as September 4, and the U.S. State Department had information about an attack two days before 9/11, according to British media.
Add all that to the failure to take even the simple common-sense precautions of stepping up security at embassies in the Mideast around the anniversary of 9/11 and there is an inescapable sense of intent here.

When the Air Force was made independent in 1948, President Truman and the Congress decapitated the military, putting the military heads into the Joint Chiefs advisory body. They were replaced by civilian Secretaries. Under each is a civilin Undersecretary. Third down is where the uniformed officer appears. The Joint chiefs is an advisory body, and does not advise spontaneously unless reporting the White House doctrine. Officers anywhere not speaking White House doctrine are civilians in 24 hours. The Joint Chiefs can disagree only by resigning. Resigning en mass has been contemplated a number of times. They should have done it in the Korean War when Truman cancelled the 5 amphibious landings that would have reduced the Chinese Army into suchi.
The civilians run it, no matter what. There is rent-seeking to be done.
For example, when the Humvees were dog meat to mines, the solution was to bring the APCs out of storage or buy up all the South African V-hulled trucks, or both. Civilians said, “I know what let’s do, let’s field a new US V-hulled truck, even though it takes a decade!”
