When you’ve lost the hand driers . . .

Support for Barack Obama, I read today on The Drudge Report, continues to plummet. According to a USA Today/Gallup poll, support for his management of the war in Afghanistan has fallen to 36 percent, down from 48 percent in February. Overall support (“How’m I doin’?”) fell to 41 percent. What does that mean? Among other things, it means that we are seeing a proliferation of visual comments like this, sent to me this morning from a friend:
Republicans, Don’t get cocky. But do get ready.

Don’t get cocky? How can politicians not? They’re running in a year when their opponents are so low in the polls it looks like they can expect to be carried by a surge into any office that is not marked by a “D” and yet…and YET…they still haven’t come up with anything at the national level that they want to call a platform for the party to run on this fall. doopid. Hot air from all!
The problem is bipartisan. Politicians don’t particularly care about the country. They care about getting elected. Nothing else matters. We need to get rid of the career politician. My first step: get rid of the congressional pension plan.

First we clean out the Democrats so the country can survive.
Then we clean out the Republican incumbents so the country can survive.
The problem is not party, it is incumbency and the endemic corruption of both ideas and character the DC fosters.

That and the DNC took over almost all control of campaign money for their candidates.
So, even if you wanted to vote against Obamacare… if you didn’t want the DNC to run a different democrat against you… while defunding your campaign… well, you have to play ball with Nancy.
Richard is absolutely correct. When we elect good people, they rarely remain that way. After the first term they’ve learned how others succeed in pleasing the people at home while raking in lobbyist dollars and living like a king. “Hey I like this … give me more.” And that’s when the character slips … and the electorate is screwed. But with term limits, once they’ve learned how to work the system, it’s too late. They can’t be re-elected. It’s the only way the people can take their control back.
That’s actually quite a kind way to describe his speech making.

I’m seeing a lot more Obama bumper stickers lately. Only they say things like: Obummer! No Hope, No Change!
It is tempting to interpret these poll numbers as indicating that more people agree with the Republicans on how the Democrats are misgoverning the country, but a lot of the continued drop in the polls comes from extreme left-wing voters’ disappointment at what they see as Obama’s centrism. If these voters stay home in November the Republicans will do well, but the disappointed left-wingers by no means support Republican candidates. With the correct sort of rabble rousing they could be inspired to hold their noses and vote for Democrats, thwarting Republican hopes.

I was, apparently, the second request of the morning for permission to do so.
Not to incite even more, but I remember using a rest-stop bathroom in ’93 or early ’94 and reading, on the air-dryer, the label PRESS BUTTON TO HEAR A MESSAGE FROM YOUR CONGRESS. And we know what happened soon after.

Heh. I had to see the picture before I got the joke. I thought the title, “When you’ve lost the hand driers” had something to do with so many people wanting to wash their hands of him.
Looks kind of old. Are we sure it wasn’t put up during the Clinton administration?

I would be interested to see poll results broken down by race, by party affiliation, by independents. One of the prior commenters suggested that it was “leftists” abandoning this administration due to his “prosecution” of the war.
Hmmm. I tend to think it’s a mass exodus of independents, mostly white, but I freely admit I could be wrong.
Just wish I had some hard facts…or even statistics instead…to verify or debunk my hypothesis.
Indeed, Mwalimu Daudi, one can easily see that it is a white hand dryer that is making fun of the President. Clearly we need to repaint the hand dryers to make them less racist.
by the time barry, nancy, and harry get through pilfering our country no president will be able to get back to where we were with reagan. pass the fair tax bill and watch the country come back rapidly. its a no brainer. we have been taxed to death by the feds and citizens are sick of it.limit terms to one(1)and cleanse the system of demigogs like teddy and rangel. forty years in office. rediculous. november cant get here soon enough for me!!!
For starters, repeal the 17th amendment.
I think the sticker is left from Bush’s term. To War Vet, maybe you aren’t old enough to remember Reagan’s term but the deficit tripled under Reagan, interest rates went through the roof and his administration betrayed the Iranian Embassy hostages by first making a secret agreement with them not to release the hostages until he took office (they arranged to have Israel ship them spare parts for their US made jets) then they did the Iran -Contra deal which supported the contras illegal war against the elected sandinista government. The contras also murdered Catholic priests, nuns and a Bishop as well as American aid workers. The Republicans have also treated veterans worse than any Democratic president has, cutting or denying their benefits and putting vets in rundown hospitals that you wouldn’t put your dog in. They talk big about being ‘patriotic” but all they care about are the wealthy minority that runs this country.
So when you’ve lost the hand driers…give the keys back to the ones who drove us in the ditch?
