More right-wing hate

May 1, 2010 - 8:53 am - by Roger Kimball

There’s more right-wing hate emanating from Arizona. Nasty state authorities are actually enforcing the law with respect to illegal immigrants. Can you believe it?  And this just in: a police deputy shot an suspected illegal immigrant in the stomach with an AK47  . . . .  no, wait, I got that backwards. It turns out that the suspected illegal immigrant — one of a gang hauling bales of marijuana along a smuggling corridor in Arizona —  was toting the AK47. It was he who shot the deputy sheriff, not the other way around. Silly me. How did I get that wrong? “The shooting,” one news report observes,  “came as Arizona grapples with backlash over its enactment of a tough new law targeting illegal immigration. Civil rights activists, concerned the law will lead to racial profiling, have called for a boycott of the state.”

What’s wrong with that last sentence?  In Arizona, there is a problem — a big problem — with illegal immigration from Mexico. From Mexico, note.  So how would you deal with the problem without profiling?  The ask the question, in any sane universe (but not, apparently, in this universe) is to answer it.  Andy McCarthy has a definitive reflection on the whole “racial profiling” meme:

The severe economic, social and criminal problem Arizonans are dealing with is illegal immigration from Mexico. If you say our law must be “race-neutral”in dealing with a problem in which race (or ethnicity/natural-origin) is unavoidably central, that is tantamount to saying the law cannot deal with the problem. That’s ludicrous. It would mean we must either be vigilantes or resign ourselves to suicide.

So here are the choices: 1) apply the law in a rational manner; 2) abandon the rule of law and embrace vigilante justice; 3) capitulate to the forces of anarchy, i.e., commit “suicide.” Which do you favor?

Arizona — don’t forget that Phoenix is the kidnapping capitol of the U. S. A. — is not the only place with a problem with ILLEGAL ALIENS.

28 members of a street gang were arrested this week in and near CHICAGO.

Of the 28 gang members arrested, 27 are ILLEGAL ALIENS and face deportation, either immediately or after facing charges in the United States, according to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

Of those arrested, 25 are from Mexico, one from Honduras and one from El Salvador, with one U.S. citizen arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Let us hope more states will follow Arizona’s lead; better let us encourage our elected officials to follow Arizona’s eaxmple.

Before I make my decision I will consult my guide to Correct Political Thought. Whatever it says is aces with me.

I have a sinking feeling that(2) is the only real option. The government has not stepped forward to aid with (1), and (3) is outright unacceptable, so…

Well according to the first sentence quoted, Arizona’s mistake is clear: Arizona is grappling with the backlash; they should instead grapple with the illegal immigration. I don’t know why they can’t see that.

Leftists salivate over illegal immigration because they see in illegal aliens the means to change the political complexion of the country. The American people have forfeited the confidence of the left. The left has found it impossible to convert this country into a nation of Marxist fools. A free and virtuous people will never knowingly enslave themselves. Only slaves will willingly trade one form of slavery for another. Therefore the left, as Berthold Brecht once said, seeks dissolve the people of America and elect another in their place.

This is a form of Gerrymandering, only instead of moving the border to manipulate electoral outcomes, they are trying to move people from one side of it to the other.

They see in illegal aliens a ready-made population of “victims” who can be easily duped into supporting the Marxist cause. They want to import a group who will self-segregate themselves and become a permanent underclass that can be used to attack and undermine the rest of the country.

The left is upset over this new law precisely because it will interfere with their efforts to import people they can dupe into supporting Marxism.

The law will be effective, so naturally they cast it as unethical.
