Escape From Planet Earth

In 1945 Warner Brothers cartoon Draftee Daffy,  America’s most famous aquatic bird unsuccessfully tries to dodge “the little man from the draft board”. But it’s hopeless. Even after attempting to seek refuge in Hell, Daffy discovers the little man still attempting to deliver his message in those infernal regions.

Seventy years later, economist Bryan Caplan has advice for those  trying to dodge the new version of the “little man from the draft board” — in this case feminists determined to tell you they wish to avoid you.  Caplan advises single male nerds in colleges (abbreviated SMN) to avoid persecution by retreating into a bubble; to wall themselves off; to literally become internal refugees. “SMNs should exclude hostile feminists from their Bubble. Stop arguing with hostile feminists.  Stop reading them.  If you know any in real life, stop associating with them.  Even if they have halfway decent reasons for berating you, you’re clearly not right for each other.  The best response is to amicably go your separate ways.”

The Washington Post describes a nerd who has almost achieved the contemporary ideal of hermitage in a tech cave.  Alex Ross has retreated to a dark room and earns his living playing video games for the amusement of an online audience.

Alex Ross is playing a video game in a dark corner of his one-bedroom apartment in Woodbridge, Va. Cardboard on the windows blocks the outdoor light, and a black sheet behind him covers skateboarding and heavy-metal posters. The 25-year-old with the scraggly beard and the dark circles under his eyes looks sorely sun-deprived.

With Breaking Benjamin blaring in the background, Alex is shooting at enemy aliens known as the Covenant and talking out loud — to fans who are online watching a live stream of him playing “Halo: The Master Chief Collection.”

Now there’s a man in a Bubble if ever there was one. “I have my games and my poetry to protect me. I am shielded in my armor.”

But agents from F.E.M.I.N.I.S.T  are probably roaming VA to find his hideout. And they will. If Alex thinks he can escape being reminded of his male privilege, he’s got another thing coming. Glenn Reynolds describes modern feminists as the latter day equivalent of the Fuller Brush Men, who’ve got a social sales quota and are determined to meet it. Quoting someone writing at Caplan’s site, Reynolds says they’ll get you or miss their sales target.

What must be understood here is that young female campus feminism is a social climbing strategy – it is a way for women who from middle-class backgrounds with low future income potential to pose as upper-middle class.

Thus, attacking of the SMN is merely bullying to increase social status.

Ask yourself, why is it the SMN that is attacked, and not black men, Texas ranchers, rich white men, etc who are attacked?

The reason the SMN is attacked is because:

1: The SMN is S, and thus weak and socially isolated.

2: The SMN is M, and thus a socially-approved target

3: The SMN is N, and thus gravitates towards academia and blue states, and thus cannot escape.

Further, just as in any case of bullying, every time the SMN shows weakness or acquiescence, the bullying is going to get worse.

No escape, bro. No escape.

The tactic of hunting down  SMNs in their hidey-holes has now extended to racial politics. The hashtag Black Brunch describes the exploits of activists who confront privileged millenial whites sheltering in their traditional coverts, like Apple Stores or cafes serving eggs benedict and mimosa tea. Yahoo describes one such protest.

In a twist on sit-in-style protests, civil rights activists entered several restaurants in New York City and Oakland, Calif., on Sunday in what organizers billed as “Black Brunch.”

About three dozen people participated in demonstrations in New York, where they momentarily “disrupted” meals at popular midtown eateries, including Lallisse, Maialino and Pershing Square — places protesters identified as predominantly “white spaces.”…

The brunch demonstrations originated in Oakland late last year during nationwide protests triggered by the police killings of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and Eric Garner in Staten Island.

The “mean white feminists” and the “black brunch crowd” both represent the growing trend in door-to-door social sales.  They are social salesmen who want  money or  something to make them go away.  While social selling was once confined to the public space as with telemarketers the new social salesmen follow you around everywhere.

SMNs might temporarily escape into a bubble, but it will provide but a momentary surcease.  They will soon find as did Daffy Duck, that not even Hell is  a sure sanctuary.  The next social activist product is already being hatched, the idea that PIV is always rape, ok?.  This one will follow you to hell.

As FCM pointed out some time ago, intercourse is inherently harmful to women and intentionally so, because it causes pregnancy in women. The purpose of men enforcing intercourse regularly (as in, more than once a month) onto women is because it’s the surest way to cause pregnancy and force childbearing against our will, and thereby gain control over our reproductive powers. There is no way to eliminate the pregnancy risk entirely off PIV and the mitigating and harm-reduction practices such as contraception and abortion are inherently harmful, too.

It will follow you until there are bubbles everywhere. For it’s not just the SMNs who are fleeing into hilltop,  everyone — including the mean feminists, and inevitably also the black brunchers will have to create their own comfort space.  Free from hate speech.  Free from people unlike them. Bubble building is the outcome of cultural Balkanization.  Runaway multiculturalism and identity politics don’t lead to integration, but to segregation.

In  an increasingly Balkanized universe people will want that bubble;  need that bubble.  In fact they will only have value inside that bubble.  Whether one’s space is a posting board where you’ve acquired a reputational score over the years or an activist universe in which one’s claim to fame is originating the phrase “PIV” — the new fragmented man is a nobody outside his narrow affinity group.  Being human is no longer enough to belong.  In fact, in the animal rights world it is cause for exclusion.

Anomie is not only possible, it may even be inevitable.  The Washington Post write that to an alarming degree the Japanese youth have already retreated more or less completely into their bunkers.  “People in Japan are so averse to romantic relationships that the country’s media even has a name for it: sekkusu shinai shokogun, or ‘celibacy syndrome,’ according to a widely circulated Guardian story on the country’s low rates of marriage, childbearing and even sex.”

• Extremely high numbers of Japanese do not find sex appealing. 45 percent of women and 25 percent of men, ages 16 to 24, are “not interested in or despised sexual contact.”

• More than half of Japanese are single. 49 percent of unmarried women and 61 of unmarried men, ages 18 to 34, are not in any kind of romantic relationship.

• In every age group, the percentage of Japanese men and women who are not in a romantic relationship has been increasing steadily since the 1990s.

• About a quarter of Japanese don’t want a romantic relationship. 23 percent of women and 27 percent of men say they are not interested in any kind of romantic relationship.

• More than a third of childbearing-age Japanese have never had sex: 39 percent of women and 36 percent of men, ages 18 to 34. That number hasn’t actually changed much over the last decade, but it is unusually high.

They’re dug in more completely than the Japanese marines on Iwo Jima.  Nothing can blast them out. Isn’t this great? No more PIV. For some, the marriage experience has already become like a mythical lost city — a place you’ve heard of but will never see, except in simulation. One company in Japan actually offers pretend weddings to the growing number of women who will never experience a real one.

Travel company Cera Travel in Kyoto, a city in southern Japan, has launched “Solo Weddings”, which they claim are perfect for women looking for the thrill and romance of a wedding, without actually having to tie the knot.

The two-day trip offers singletons a chance to enjoy all the fun and glamour of the special day, including spending their wedding night in a fancy hotel.

Clients also get the chance to have dress fittings, choose their own bouquets, get their hair and make-up done and even choose a man to accompany them for a photo shoot.

You can’t escape the “little social salesman from political correctness.” Not even in hell. Oh wait, maybe we’re already  … “well now, I wouldn’t say that.”
