The Palestinian Jihadist is Always the Victim.

Newsflash: See below: FBI believes Hasan may potentially be connected to three of the 9/11 hijackers.

More Newsflash: See below. Hasan told physicians at Walter Reed that infidels should be beheaded; his collegues afraid to report him due to the politically correct climate.

Our president is quoted in the pages of the New York Times advising us not to “jump to conclusions.” According to CNN, President Obama has also cautioned against a “backlash” against Muslims in the military and in the country. This — from the charmer who bowed before the Saudi King and who betrayed Muslim women in his Cairo speech.

Ordinarily, I’d agree with such advice about conclusion-jumping. The military does first have to investigate the matter fully. One can’t always believe what one reads in the media, etc. But whether or not Major Hasan acted alone, had allies, was inspired by religious and political Islamism, was psychiatrically troubled — the fact remains that he committed an act of terrorism. He terrified other soldiers precisely where they were supposed to feel safe. So much of the truth is already so clear that it would be insane, insulting to the intelligence to deny or minimize it.

Unlike President Obama or the head of Homeland Security (who is more concerned with the possibility of an anti-Muslim backlash than with Homeland Insecurity), senior United States senator Joseph Lieberman is demanding a “terrorism” probe into army killings. You won’t read about this today in the mainstream media.

Quickly, reflexively, without waiting for more of the facts to emerge, the mainstream print media (I am talking about the Paper of Record) has already decided that Major Hasan is a tormented “innocent” who must have snapped under alleged conditions of extreme provocation and humiliation. Indeed, today, the headline in the New York Times about this story is: “Little Evidence of Terror Plot in Base Killings” with a sub-heading of “Investigators Say Major at Fort Hood Faced Many Pressures.”

As I predicted yesterday, the New York Times views the jihadist as the victim, as a man who was suffering from secondary trauma given the stress of listening to other soldiers talk about their battlefield trauma. The mainstream media assures people that there is no such thing as Islamic jihad; that the Ft. Hood massacre has nothing to do with Islam or with violent jihad; that if there are any victims here, it is not the dead and wounded soldiers (whose young and beautiful faces have begun to haunt me), but the man accused of their mass murders.

The portrait of Major Hasan to be found in the pages of the New York Times is that of a solitary and tormented man, one who was being forced to fight in a war he opposed for religious reasons, an unjust war, a man who viewed America as the aggressor, and Muslims, especially Muslim suicide killers, as innocent, justified, even heroic.

So far, he sounds like a New York Times reader himself.

I am a psychologist, a retired Professor of Psychology and a psycho-analytically oriented psychotherapist. But I have also been following current events, even studying them. Based on the evidence to date, Major Hasan’s bloody rampage seems to have been planned. The day before the murders, he gave away his furniture and copies of his Qu’ran. On that day, Major Hasan also had a mysterious, brief meeting with another man dressed in Islamic clothing. He shred lots of documents. And, strangely, he asked to use his neighbor’s computer when he had a computer of his own.

Thus, Hasan’s action was a planned execution. It was not the act of a man who suddenly “snapped.” Yes, as I wrote in my earlier piece, we may characterize Hasan’s action as a case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome but that does not mean I am making an actual psychiatric diagnosis. The phrase is descriptive, perhaps even sarcastic. Yes, we may call this the act of a lone shooter — if it turns out that he acted alone — but still, this lone shooter was someone who was inspired by a radical Islamist ideology which views such murderous acts as religiously heroic, not as “psychiatrically deranged.”

In Gaza or on the West Bank, Major Hasan would be given a hero’s parade. Osama bin Laden’s followers will print posters and banners with his face.

Some may choose to view him as dysfunctional, psychiatrically challenged, socially inappropriate, isolated, inflexible, fanatical — but that does not justify or excuse his jihadic crime. Many religious fanatics are also “mentally ill.” It is the religious ideology that empowers criminal and, in Hasan’s case, treasonous activity. Hasan did not commit jihadic mass murder because he is “mentally ill,” but because he is a jihadist.

The need to justify being right is all consuming, especially for those who would have
a tough time showing that they are objectively
correct.

Expecting the usual suspects who explain away the precursors of the actions of the “Sons of Allah” to objectively critique Mortimer Adler & Antonio Gramsci is simply asking too much. For in that critique, the disciples of Gramsci would see that they are wrong, ergo they must change to be correct. Which is a bridge too far.

2. 2. Gianni

I absolutely agree. Let me add something else.
Pagan/wicca soldiers are discriminated and/or harrassed. Women soldiers are and they even get raped. Gay and lesbian soldiers are booted out.
And yet noone of them decided to kill people.
As for the translation from arabic: several good translator were booted out simply because they were gays or lesbians and all this while conservatives were cheering and smiling.
This is not only discrimination. This is a stupid thing.
An army that boot out gays and lesbians and let an extremist free to act act against its own interest.
So, boot all the religious extremists, leave wiccans alone (they are peaceful, nice and law-abiding), punish male soldiers who rape women both military and civilians, open all military branch to women and, accept, once for all, gays and lesbians in the army.
It’s not that complicated after all.

3. One can be crazy without being psychotic. Jihadists are crazy. They commit senseless, evil acts that cannot possible help their cause. However, they are not clinically psychotic. They are merely part of a culture that has gone crazy.

4. So, who in the end was more dangerous to America, a Jonathan Pollard which caused the intelligence community to suspect other Jews in government service of loyalty problems and chasing down all sorts of suspected spies when none where there, or Muslims like Hasan in their midst?

5. 5. David Thomson

The evolving elite consensus contends that Major Hasan is somehow a victim of our racist society. He must have suffered from low self-esteem because of his Muslim minority status. This is pure crap. Hasan is a fully credentialed psychiatrist and military officer. In other words, he represents the top ten percent regarding formal education and financial earnings. What is the likelihood that he has been severely persecuted because of the color of his skin and religious affiliation—in the year 2009? Let’s be blunt: next to zilch! At the most, Hasan may have overheard a couple of low ranked soldiers describe him as a towel head. A mature adult is expected to blow off such minor irritations, especially if they are a mental health professional. We can pretty well take it for granted that nobody dared call Hasan a “filthy Arab” to his face. That rarely, if ever, occurs in our present era. Thus, what does he have to complain about? Hasan is a guy who pretty well has it made. Numerous Americans would have been thrilled to trade places with him. Are Muslim-Americans supposedly so overly sensitive that any perceived slight offense is enough to set them off to commit mass murder? Good heavens, give me a break.

Oh, was Hasan one of those “moderate Taliban” we’re heard about? Did he just accidentally kill 13 and wound 29 others? Being picked-on “made” him do it? Yeah, right. I heard there was beachfront property in Arizona for sale, too.

7. 7. PAthena

How can Major Hasan be a psychiatrist?

8. 8. dymphna

I am so tired of the psychobabble about this cold-blooded killer who, from all the evidence, thought he was acting in the name of his deity.

He’s a killer and a spoiled narcissist. This country gave him a free college education, free medical school, good pay while a resident, and a miltary rank and profession that granted status and respect. He no doubt took advantage of those benefits at each stage of his life from the time he was 18 or so.

At whatever point he decided he was better than that and anyone who didn’t agree with him deserved to die, at that point he ceased being truly human.

I’m sick of being warned about “backlash”. How about we have a little “frontlash” instead. Something pre-eemptiive, as in I don’t like any religion that doesn’t like dogs.

And I don’t respect any group that makes demands for entitlements without reciprocating. Build me a church in Saudi Arabia and I might consider you to be my equal. Until then, you’re just a socially backward whiner.

Refuse to let Christians and Jews on your holy property? Then stay off ours.

IOW, grow up. I find the terminally offended deeply offensive. The whole world would be a more peaceful place if they’d just stop yammering about their “rights” and our obligations. Real adults do it the other way ’round.

The New York Times today described the mental
torment the personnel like Major Hasan go through when counselling returned soldiers
suffering from PTSD. One’s heart goes out to
them. But, isn’t it strange that of all the
counsellors in the armed services only poor Major Hasan, a Palestinian Muslim, is the only one who became so distraught that he had to kill his fellow soldiers? What is it with the Times? Can they no longer call a
spade a spade when the facts are right in front of them? The man is a Jihadist. Say
so.

BRIEFING

a) Islam and Honesty is an Oxymoron;

b) Islamic people have to know (yes, they appearently still do not know or refuse to know!) that “God” – what they call “Allah”? – culturally exists since thousand of years before their “prophet” Muhammad even saw the “Daylight” of this Earth. Not that Islam invented something new or pure(est)!

c) “Allahu akbar” is a criminal shout, exactly the way “heil Hitler” is. Their meaning go far beyond their litteral meaning, and whoever shout these “sentences”, doesn’t mean them litteraly, but for their political and – let me considering it so – terror(istic) meaning;

d) we are now trying to “fight back” a dangerous Ideology, which is Islam, by word – not to be anyway forgotten than during 40s we needed a fully equipped ARMY to fight it (from the West) back. Therefore every civil citizen should join in this “fighting” against Islamic Ideology, before the time comes that words are not more enough (?);

e) Islam gave start to so called mafious System, where people are united in a Clan alike structure, ruled by so called honor Codes, where leaving and denouncing the Group is punishable by (brutal) Death, where women aren’t supposed to “behave like men” (either they submit to men or they will be harshly treated), where killing, looting and oppressing (others) is allowed, where Dishonesty (toward others) is allowed/encouraged, (…). [Mafious System in Italy got imported by so called Moors - better to call them Islamic people, whose "moorish" colour skin made me understand that these "fighters" were Slaves picked up in Africa, since original Islamic people's skin colour is "white" ... -, during their Southern Italy's Invasion];

f) Islam is: killing, looting, oppressing. Very short terms which are producted by watching Islamic History since its very Beginning (Muhammad’s time);

g) Secular Democray exists in the West far before Islamic people started they Hijra (Immigration) toward “us”; it is therefore clear that they and their Immigration pose a problem to us and our Civilization(s), not that they and their Immigration is simply a neutral (or even positive) Fact for “our” lives and world. They take profit from us, and when it comes to show gratefulness or even a civilized behaviour: they practically show disrespect. [I guess this Fort Hood shooting is an - almost extreme - example of what I noted];

(…).

ABOUT FORT HOOD’S ACCIDENT

1. very nice and generous mister Barack (an Arabic name, by the way – pretty Islamic, too? -) Hussein (an Islamic name) Obama, would he still be so kind and generous if various Hasan and Co. would shoot down his wife and his daughters? (Maybe yes: I think the only interest of his is to back and support the Islamic Mafia he – this starts seeming obvious – belongs to);

2. (never too much repeated) Barack Hussein Obama is obvisouly backing and supporting a Mafia, and precisely the Islamic Mafia. Therefore we can’t expect from him to condemn it or even criticize it and its methods, not to mention its fellows. Himself he is obviously backed and supported by it/them (maybe Afghans metaphorically burned his face because they are still almost in love with Soviets, and a sort of Cold war is still existing between the two Superpowers – US and Russia -);

3. about Colombine shooting it seems that the two guys were gays – I recently read an article (by Ali Sina?) about the connection between “Enjoying Freedom” seen as a Sin, Guilty, and Jihad (to “shoot down” the source of “Sin(s)”). I think the shooter is no more alive, and this is a pity (…), otherwise we could ask him wether his “action” could (psychologically/psychiatrically) have something to do with “Guilty” [in the Colombine case to be an homosexual was allegedly perceived as a Shame by the two guys/gays.

Off topic: maybe this confirms the need to allow homosexuals to live their sexual life without stressing them, Paederasty excluded of course, but Paedophilia has to be excluded even among aeterosexuals, since children aren't the right "object"/"subject" to direct own "sexual attention/wishes" to];

4. *** VERY IMPORTANT I THINK! ***

Being harrashed in the Army (called Hazing), is very bad. ANYWAY: YOU GO TO A MIDDLE EASTERN ARMY and you will really be arrashed. Even Palestinians are tortured in Israeli Prisons BY THEIR SAME “COMPANIONS”, and do you know why? Their “Companions” fear that some of them would become a “Spy” for Israel (or the West). Middle Eastern Army are certainly far more gruesome than US Army.

Compared to Middle Eastern (or “III. World” Armies) – and appearently to Russian Army too -, I think that US – or any other Western Army’s – are sort of “first Class hotels!” for Soldiers!

11. 11. Pragmatist

The man was a devout Mosque going Muslim , he prepared very carefully for the act by taking fully loaded weapons and spare clips with him, he once attended at the same time a Mosque with 9/11 TERRORISTS, he handed out Korans and gave all his furniture away jut before he acted, he visited and posted on Islamic Terrorist websites, he was under investigation for expressing his support for Terrorist suicide bombers and has said Mohammedans should fight the oppressors, he joined the Army of his own free will or maybe Allah ordained it so he could commit a Terrorist Act.
But Islam has nothing to do with what he did the Islamophile Moonbats and your very own Mohammedan President and the STUPID MSM keep bleating. Dont make me LAUGH. Good job he was not a White Policeman old Obambi would have had him hung drawn and quartered by now.

12. 12. kochevnik

Many religious fanatics are also “mentally ill.” It is the religious ideology that empowers criminal and, in Hasan’s case, treasonous activity.

Since she has deduced religion as the rotten cause or most troubles in our world, one would think Ms. Chesler would wish to take precautions about the nutball christofascists and rapturists who have instigated an unwritten war against Islamic nations. How odd that the diagnosis is correct, but the prescription is so unfathomable. Rarely is bias and prejudice more readily apparent. You can almost see the racism and hate creeping through her words.

13. 13. Terry

My own opinion (and I’m originally from a Muslim Arab country but not a Muslim myself) is that Islam fosters a form of mental illness, and I’m not being glib or trying to be funny. Islamic societies are paranoid & that’s putting it mildly. So, when saying that the guy was mentally disturbed, I can go along with that but it was Islam that made him crazy.

14. 14. bonbon

The issue dethroning any potential justification of the massacre at Fort Hood is rapidly being dispelled as local and nation-wide reports of American and immigrant Muslims showing praising Major Hasan’s massacre. In the tiny town of Keifer, Oklahoma an American veteran versed in Arabic overheard the convenient store owner praising Allah that the soldier had killed so many. These immigrants did not expect the residents of this to understand what they were saying. Needless to say, the eaves-dropper violently tossed his food at the owner and proceeded to translate the message to the ears of the other customers. Videos portraying ‘radical’ muslims supporting these atrocious acts rub open wounds. An American muslim woman opened a facebook page in support of prayers for a speedy recovery and blessings to this son of Islam and praises his actions for the sake of Islam.
It is becoming evident that Islam is the anti-theses to the constitution of the United States and we clearly have traitors amongst us. It is important that we all contact our legislators regarding this issue and concern for whether Muslims in position of military, civil or political duties will maintain their loyalties to the United States than those of their religious beliefs. Remember, the head of Homeland Security is a Muslim also. This is not to claim that all Muslims are liable to break out on a shooting spree amongst their co-workers or in their neighborhoods but clearly we need to catapult our society into accepting there are and will be issues of allegiances to the United States versus the primary component which conflicts with the constitution of the United States – Sharia Law. Banning Sharia Law is not unconstitutional. Telling a Muslim he/she cannot practice their religion is. Thus, banning Sharia Law is the more ethic show of enforcement of respect to the current laws of the United States.
Banning Sharia Law diminishes the possibility of Muslims reaching their desired Dar-Al-Islam (House of Islam); meaning a complete rule of Islam over the United States or, eventually, the globe. The removal of this possibility would ensure that radical Islamic attempts of Jihad to be fruitless as Sharia Law cannot and will not be implemented rending the political assault by Islamists a mute point. The only thing left to do would be to slaughter all the ‘infidels’ (non-believers) and there are far too many of us relative to their numbers.
This brings on the second issue; immigration. We should halt immigration to impose limits restricting the eventuality of unequal proportions of Muslims to Americans. By now, it should be evident to all Americans the severe problems Islam brings to our culture and limiting its growth of members would kindly give us time to consider the potential options to avoid any further civil unrest. We are talking about innocent lives like those lost on 9/11 and the compromise of security and lives lost at Ft. Hood, recently.
It’s time to take action. It’s time to help our country fight terrorism. It’s time to find a solution to identify potential would-be killers for the sake of Islam. I am not naive. I am an ex muslim and well versed in the psychotic break-down a Muslim can endure having read hate-filled suras right out the Quran and the Hadiths. A Muslim has a choice whether to pull the trigger or not. However, Islam provides no safety guard regulating whether than Muslim should or should not pull that trigger.

It’s time to enact laws to install a safety guard on the pistol of the Islamic movement!

The Koran makes the explicit promise of an afterlife only to those who die in battle for Allah. A bit different from the Christian redemption eh?

And (as for) those who fly in Allah’s way and are then slain or die, Allah will most certainly grant them a goodly sustenance, and most surely Allah is the best Giver of sustenance.
[22.59] He will certainly cause them to enter a place of entrance which they shall be well pleased with, and most surely Allah is Knowing, Forbearing.

16. 16. ExPat

Great article, as usual, from Chesler. The real tragedy, aside from the loss of our fine young soldiers is the knee-jerk reaction from the FBI, other unnamed “authorities”, and of course the media that this jihadist was just a loose cannon and his act had nothing to do with terrorism. More likely it was caused by Bush’s (and now Obamas?) war on terror or whatever it’s called now. I feel sorry for you guys. I’m retired now and living in the Philippines. We have a very serious problem with an active Muslim insurgency but at least the military here is meeting it with an appropriate response, i.e. killing them. The PC attitude prevalent in America will, I’m afraid, preclude any viable response until it is too late.

17. 17. Trainwreck

This is the REAL speech Obama was prepared to give after the Fort Hood massacre:

“First I’d like to give a shout out to Chief Medicine Bull, who won a congessional medal of something. But that is nothing compared to the medal that the King of Saudi Arabia placed on the neck of yours truly.

Then I’d like to give a shout-out and double fist bump to my man Hasan, who headed my Homeland Security transition team. He could do in the army what my boy Ayers only dreamed about doing to the Police Departments throughout America. Actually, what I really mean to say is that we might never know what set off a great American like my buddy Hasan to snap like he did. For that reason, I am having my attorney general look into anti-Muslim bigotry at Fort Hood and we propose having all new recruits attend sensitivity training and join the local mosque no matter what religion they are, so that new soldiers can learn tolerance.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to the soldiers who so tragically passed away in a man-caused disaster. We are still trying to make sense of this tragedy. I urge all Americans not to jump to conclusions. Our best psychiatrists are investigating the causes and treatments for Second Hand PTSD, which we believe is ultimately responsible for the tragic deaths at Fort Hood”

18. We are in an end-game in the media: in addition to the Times, NPR ran an article praising the heroic efforts of military psychiatrists (implication: including Hasan) to help military families cope with PTSD.

They praised the killer before his victims have even been returned to their families for burial.

Here is the steel-trap rubric: Hasan must be seen only as a fellow victim, along with the 13 dead, who already matter less than him in the media. NPR did not talk about the contributions those people made to the military culture. Unless I missed something, the Times did not linger on the trauma experienced by the victims at Hasan’s hands.

Because of his identity, it is our fault he has snapped; because our culture is rotten with prejudice and hate, he is not responsible for any act, and we are responsible for everything, including things that have not happened (the anticipated “backlash” Obama feels the need to discuss, when he will not discuss Hasan’s own overtly expressed message). Hasan’s claim that his car was once vandalized (and such vandalism is frequently staged for attention) is laid alongside the taking of 13 lives and declared equal.

The spectacle of our president engaging in the early rehabilitation of Hasan is staggering and must not be forgotten. Obama has a disturbing appetite for this stuff. He barely interrupted his speech to politically powerful Indian Nation groups to mention the murders and then proceeded to engage in a long, jokey exchange focused on the many ways he and they had been excluded and betrayed by the American government and the American people — and, he claimed, continue to be so today, a sin that will only be assuaged with more tax dollars and ramped up recognition of our crimes against them.

That he did this as another self-identified victim of America had just finished slaughtering 13 fellow Americans on the grounds of identical resentments indicates that not even the most extreme version of this message will be too extreme. Obama could have stood in front of that crowd and respectfully summoned the shared history of the many Native American soldiers who served our country and lost fellow soldiers at Fort Hood hours earlier, but he didn’t.

We may not be at the end but the beginning of something, I’m afraid.

What will the next “sleeper” need to do to get his message across, when this one staggered around for years quite loudly expressing himself to no ill effect, and now that he has killed 13 is still being excused by powerful people in high places?

This situatuation has just started and is going to get far worse as we let Muslims flood our shores through our insane immigration policies. Our Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves at our politically correct stupidity that stretches all the way from our Left wing nuts to Sean Hannity who is an Islamic apologist.

Here is the unchangeable reality.… We will have terrorist attacks and threats of terrorists attacks and inconvenient and humiliating security measures and the disruption of ordinary activities FOREVER, as long as Muslims are in the West in any significant numbers.… The unchangeable fact is that wherever there is a sizable Muslim community there will be a very large number of terror supporters and therefore—inevitably—actual terrorists as well.

This is our future, FOREVER, unless we stop Muslim immigration and initiate a steady out-migration of Muslims from the West until their remaining numbers are a small fraction of what they are now and there are no true believers among the ones that remain. Travelers from Muslim countries must be tightly restricted as well. Muslims must be essentially locked up inside the Muslim lands, with only carefully screened individuals allowed into the non-Muslim world.

The enemy are among us, in America, in Britain, in the West, and will remain so until we remove them from the West and indeed from the entire non-Muslim world. As extreme as this sounds, it is a no-brainer. There is no other solution. All other responses to this problem add up to meaningless hand-wringing. The hand-wringing will go on FOREVER, along with the terrorist attacks and the threat of terrorist attacks, until we take the ONLY STEPS that can actually and permanently end the threat.

“An army of one” became “An Al Qaeda of one”. Assimilation became De-assimilation. The army gravy train of free medical education bred a killer conscientious objector who tragically carried out the Koranic injunctions against infidels at Fort Hood. ‘Don’t need no stinkin’ psychobabble to get the picture.’ How many more pre-jihadist vipers are being bred in the bosom of the US?

22. Here in Israel, we carry our on duty weapons at all times, even when off duty and out of uniform.

Unlike Fort Hood, all of our servicemen and women are armed at all times.

Terrorist find no soft targets in Israel and are often put down
before they have the opportunity to do any damage.
.

In addition, Terror attacks are stopped by armed civilians, teachers, bus drivers and EMT’s.

It’s plain and simple: Hasan was/IS a jihadi and a true soldier of allah. When the calls come from allah no Muslim can can say no – for otherwise he will burn in hell in the afterlife. This mental condition is instilled in every Muslim child from the age of six or seven and by the time they reach Hasan’s age they can never get out of it and they will do anything to avoid hellfire and go the paradise brothel where 72 perpetual virgins are waiting to greet them. Oh the lure of those beautiful virgins can make even the married Muslims do anything let alone Hasan who was/is single and unable to find a virgin in this life – imagine the frustrations of the poor guy. No wonder NYTimes is sympathizing with Hasan and his ilk.

See how easy is it to explain Hasan’s jihad murders!!! Now only if our leaders and low-lying media could understand this, we will be on our way to get rid of this menace.

Whatever will happen in the next 200 years, the Arab muslims will still obsess about some mystery Christian oppression, about the indignities suffered during the crusades, about their being forced to leave Cordoba, and so on and so forth.
And still in tents will leave, depending on handouts -

25. 25. Lou Santacroce

The NY Times also reported that there are a little over 1900 muslim soldiers in the armed services, among about 533,000 troops. They made the number seem insignificant by comparison, but 1900 fanatics broken up into a couple of hundred “sleeper cells” can wreck havoc when their pre-determined “zero hour” sounds. I agree with Gianni: pagan/wiccan soldiers will — at worst — do some sort of dance around an alter while gays and lesbians will — gasp! — actually have sex. Muslims will plot to kill you. The answer is simple: get rid of the muslims and leave everyone else alone!

Can muslims think of this as a hate crime? No; To be politically correct in Islam, you must slay the infidel.
This attack was within the teachings of the Qur’an.
Hasan is being hailed as a hero by mullahs, since he had the will to carry out his tenets.
How many more are there like him? Every single muslim has this potential. That’s the purpose of their “religion”.
Anyone whom has done the research knows that Islam is not a “religion”, but a philosophy for a battle plan.

Incidents like this will continue to occur here in the US. Mold grows when conditions of temperature and humidity are optimal, remove only the mold, leaving the conditions, and other spores in the air will make mold grow again.

The victimization narrative prevalent in Muslim communities in the US and, more importantly, in their Mosques, the relentless hate and extremism inherent in Islam itself, highlighting the Palestinian cause against the “oppression” by Israel, helped by America, constantly contribute to one or another outburst of Jihad violence. Notice the increase of these incidents since Obama took office, from African-American converts planning to bomb a Synagogue to Major Hasan.

For in relaxing the controls, when there is no war on terror anymore, when the Patriot Act is derided and questioned, when you have a Janet Napolitano in Homeland Security ready to blame Christian extremists and others nebulous organizations instead of the real and present danger of extremism in American Mosques and many Muslim organizations here, when Eric Holder, Attorney General, turns a blind eye on these same extremists, alas, when the cat is out, the mice play.

So, the real problem has been electing Mr. Obama. His names should have been a warning enough. Never the country has been more divided. The expected utopias not being realized, hopefully the Independents that finally pushed him over the wall and into the White House, will help us make him a one-termer.

31. 31. John Nelson

Dear Phyllis,

You know as well as I do that religious themes and rationalizations frequently permeate the delusions of the mentally ill. You also know that the mentally ill, even those with profound symptoms, can function at a relatively high level, right up until they don’t. That point might be where they jump on the counter at the local Waffle House at 2:30 AM and start screaming about Jesus talking to them from the newspaper vending box outside, a suicide (or serious attempt), or when they arm themselves and set about killing as many as they can.

So suggesting that the actions Maj. Hassan are those of a rational jihadist is, to say the least, premature. More importantly, such suggestions, which the right-wing media is so predictably spewing, non-stop, are entirely missing the point. The term “rational jihadist” is, I think we can agree, an oxymoron. Killing others to advance one’s religious ideals is never a rational act. Never. Religion is a matter of faith, not reason. Despite the fact that the sacred texts of ALL the Abrahamic religions contain passages indicating that it’s “God’s will” that this or that group be executed, most cultures have long since learned that embracing such dogma in too literal a manner is, shall we say “less than rational”. While it is true that in certain parts of the world, a radical fundamentalist form of Islam is pervasive enough to dominate the local culture, Christianity, and before that, Judaism, and before Judaism, various pagan religions, have had their run as violent and vicious would-be “purifiers” of the masses. It was madness then and it is madness now. Every single thinking person who agrees with the previous statement must refute religion, ANY religion, as the justification for the imposition of their will upon another.

Why do we never hear something like that from the right-wing noise machine?

32. duplicity is one of the tenets of islam (whether official or not), this makes for a futile pool of suicide bombers/killers/murderers. this killer/idiot may be a nut but islam pushed him to kill infidels.

whether this idiot planned the massacre on his own or not it is directly related back to his religion.

K@14: Oh please grow up. This level of childish rant is better suited for Kos. Do you really think anyone on this thread takes you seriously? Your vapid and vile rants are nothing new to this cite just under a different psuedonym.

Nobody in their right mind could be expounding the things you do and be able to function in our society. Equally it is quite useless to engage you since you are programmed to only respond to certain words and give back the responses Kos or CAP gave to you-kind of a Manchurian troll.

36. 36. LeighB

I am hoping some of the PJM all stars weigh in on this (Delia, Rachel Peepers, Chuck Pelto, Meryl…). When the CiC does not have an immediate response condemning this act and extending emotional support to the Ft. Hood community it makes me wonder about him. Does it make sense that a TV channel gets more *attention* from our President than our military?

37. 37. Evil Pundit

Also of note is this quote from a BBC programme, interviewing a member of Hasan’s mosque. http://biased-bbc.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-honestly-have-no-pity-for-them.html

Duane : I’m not going to condemn him for what he did. I don’t know why he did it. I will not, absolutely not, condemn him for what he had done though. If he had done it for selfish reasons I still will not condemn him. He’s my brother in the end. I will never condemn him.
Gavin Lee : There might be a lot of people shocked to hear you say that.
Duane: Well, that’s the way it is. I don’t speak for the community here but me personally I will not condemn him.
Gavin Lee : What are your thoughts towards those that were victims in this?
Duane : They were, in the end, they were troops who were going to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill Muslims. I honestly have no pity for them. It’s just like the majority of the people that will hear this, after five or six minutes they’ll be shocked, after that they’ll forget about them and go on their day.

39. 39. BettyBlue

Comrad Kochevnik is indulging in “turnspeak”. He is accusing America, which was attacked, of being the attacker, and trying to divert the blame to Jews and Christians, and he calls Phyllis Chesler “racist” because she dares point out the dangers of Islam. He’s kind’ve a textbook example of the very mindset Chesler warns against.

40. 40. Wolla Dalbo

Just as the MSM is covering up the full extent and depth of Maj. Hasan’s Muslim religion and Jihadist connections, they covered up Obama’s deep Muslim roots.

Obama’s solicitousness for Hasan, his coldness toward our dead and wounded soldiers, the “unbeliever” victims, is easily understood if you know—as the vast majority of those who get their news from the MSM don’t know—the depths of Barak Hussain Obama’s Muslim roots, that:

Obama’s biological father was a Muslim and a Socialist, a member of the predominantly Muslim Luo tribe in Kenya, that all of Obama’s paternal relatives but one are Muslims, and though denied by Obama and the MSM, are, as his paternal grandmother stated, “strong in the Muslim faith.”

That from the time Obama’s mother Stanley married a second Muslim and moved with Obama, age 6, and now called Barry Soetoro, to Jakarta, Indonesia—a majority Muslim country–until Obama was shipped off to his maternal grandparents in Hawaii at age 10, when Stanly was divorcing Soetoro, Obama lived in Indonesia and was educated as a Muslim; he lived in a Muslim household, was registered as an Indonesian citizen and Muslim with the authorities and his school, and according to the testimony of his classmates and friends in Indonesia, took mandatory religious instruction in Islam at school, took supplementary classes after school in recitation of the Qur’an in Arabic (mangaji) that only the most pious took, and went to the Mosque with his stepfather Lolo Soetoro. This deep background is why Obama, in an unguarded moment before the election, told New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof, after demonstrating how he could chant the Muslim “call to prayer” in perfect Arabic, that the sound of the Muezzin calling Muslims to evening prayer was “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset,” (http://select.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/opinion/06kristof.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin).

Know these things and Obama’s attitude becomes perfectly clear.

41. 41. Broomer

Certain individuals in the military will have their careers ended. But as long as Political Correctness remains unchanged, I predict there will be more jihadist terrorism against the armed forces within the USA.

42. 42. Phranc

14. kochevnik:

Many religious fanatics are also “mentally ill.” It is the religious ideology that empowers criminal and, in Hasan’s case, treasonous activity.

Since she has deduced religion as the rotten cause or most troubles in our world, one would think Ms. Chesler would wish to take precautions about the nutball christofascists and rapturists who have instigated an unwritten war against Islamic nations. How odd that the diagnosis is correct, but the prescription is so unfathomable. Rarely is bias and prejudice more readily apparent. You can almost see the racism and hate creeping
—————————————————–
Christofascist? I’ve seen that word before. What part of them exactly is fascist? Seeing how fascism is a political-economic system that falls under statist/socialist parameters I am truly intriqued to know the very details that correlate between these people, their actions and your use of the word. Please enlighten me.

Racism through her words? What race would that be exactly? It can’t be islam since muslem is not a race and islam is a religion. In fact their are muslems from almost ( not sure if there are aboriginal Australian muslims)every race including whites that are muslem. So please tell me exactly what race this racism is aimed at.

43. 43. Lynn B

kochevnik
What should one call Hasan? Since when is a religious ideology a race? Since when is it racist to despise honor killings? Since when has Islam become a race? As for bias and prejudice, look to the mosques where such hate is preached by your Imams. Hasan is a terrorist and jihadist and he murdered his own. Period. I hope he gets the death penalty. He deserves it.

For those that think the attack at ft. hood was the first of it’s kind:
http://www.post-gazette.com/World/20030324campattack0324P3.asp

I fully agree that sharia law must be banned. Anyone who steps foot on our soil must follow our laws. They must also be allowed the comfort and protection of our laws. Our laws are what makes us American. If you don’t want to obey our laws you don’t want to be American and therefore should not be allowed in our country.

45. 45. ked5

@5
Hasan may have overheard a couple of low ranked soldiers describe him as a towel head.

~~~~
And it’s not like he *didn’t* have the rank to call such low ranked soldiers and have them explain their remarks. (and if they repeated them, he could have them written up for insubordination.)
Paranoid people often “hear” things that do not exist.
46. 46. ked5
I should add – he may well not have been welcomed with warm fuzzies because he’s a racist, and even low level soldiers can tell that. So, he’s projecting HIS intolerances onto others. The more likely scenario.
47. 47. Filthy Screw
Two things. First, insightful article based on what we know. Second, we need to open a second front in the war on terror. All those who equate Islam with Christianity, all those who excuse these attacks, all those who are constantly trying to undermine our efforts to put these bronze age fanatics back in the bronze age, all those who do not call terrorism, terrorism are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. We have not arrested or convicted anyone for treason in a long time. It is time to start applying those laws again.
48. 48. Lynn B
Senator Joe Lieberman is going to open an investigation into this attack. Only statement I have heard concerning an investigation. Where is the DHS?
Barack Obama will speak out on the Fort Hood massacre eventually. In fact as soon as White House staff have scoured his speeches to ensure that none of Hasan’s anti-American diatribes were in fact repetitions of Obama’s.
52. 52. Terry Gain
The fact that 28 million Iraqis were liberated by the American military fighting under the leadership by George W. Bush drove Hasan crazy. Would it be unfair of me to suggest that he wasn’t alone in his antipathy to that mission. Of course most won’t resort to killing. But a lot of people did react by voting for a totally unqualified anti-American to replace Bush.
#34:
I think what you are forgetting to mention is that Islam is an ideology that combines law, political aspirations, and religion into one concept for all Muslims to live by.
Therefore, Hasan would have brought all these disciplines to bear while contemplating this act. The political aspects may have had just as much impact on his decision to go forward.
58. 58. johnt
There are occasions when liberals[?] do jump to conclusions, they just don’t do it with our enemies.
Recall the incessant statements that we understand the legitimate needs of the Soviet Union, a staple of NY Times editorials.
Let a shooting take place at an abortion clinic and conclusions will come faster than light, and with that some extremely broad & sweeping generalizations about the pro-life movement.
Now all you need do is ask why liberals[?] are so quick to excuse or empathize with those who hate us?
Couldn’t be that they share that hatred, could it?
59. 59. Elliot
#34:
What you are forgetting to mention is that Islam is an ideology that combines laws,political aspirations, and religion into one concept that Muslims are to live by.
Strong article Phyllis. I’m a private sector person with a finite “wailing capacity” so after a disaster I start asking “what can we do about it?” Several commentators have suggested changes to immigration policies. There is another thing that we could do. The political leverage of the Muslim world comes from oil. Proper development of our own oil and gas resources would weaken that leverage. “Drill baby drill” is one of the ways to counter the Jihadists.
63. 63. MisterH
Face it: we have in place an administation that believes America is the root of all things bad in the world and that any attack on us and our institutions is simply just desserts. I gather many of you are disgusted at the limp and feeble response that came from our affirmative action prez. It’s not a gaffe or a momentary lapse in judegment; it’s an honest expression of deeply held beliefs.
Witness the similarly “nuanced” response from DHS sec’y. Napolitano as reported by AP:
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The U.S. Homeland Security secretary says she is working to prevent a possible wave of anti-Muslim sentiment after the shootings at Fort Hood in Texas.
Janet Napolitano says her agency is working with groups across the United States to try to deflect any backlash against American Muslims following Thursday’s rampage by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
64. 64. Gary Ogletree
Enough information has gotten out that most people can see this was an attack by a Koran believing Muslim, and an act of treason as well as murder. And all the babble about pre post traumatic stress just exposes the fools. We may be stupid, but we’re not that stupid.
65. 65. Barb
I am very glad the killer is still alive and can be brought to justice in this life and perhaps redeem himself before he actually has to meet his maker. It would be wonderful to see his “religious” leader deported. It is also nice to know that our president urges us to avoid “jumping to conclusions” about a muslim man who killed and injured dozens of people after giving many clues about his mixed up mind. Funny how our president had no trouble whatsoever jumping to conclusions about a white policeman answering a call from a concerned neighbor about a possible break-in. Why is there no such thing as a “hate-crime” against white people? It is time to stop the nonsensical political correctness.
66. 66. TomF
Of course Obama wants us to Avoid “Jumping to Conclusions, Avoid Anti-Muslim “Backlash.” Him being elected was supposed to change everything. His policy of appeasement is endangered by conclusions of a terrorist connection. It reveals his naiveté at best. We do not need a backlash against Muslims, but a little response to the jihadists wouldn’t hurt.
67. Isn’t it sad that writers and pundits have to publish articles (thank you for this column , anyway) just to state that
a jihadist is a jihadist ?
Professor Chesler has written yet another brutally insightful piece.
Yet she is also on record as admiring the religious head apparatus of Muslimahs — the outward sign of submission and obedience to a comprehensive “system of life” commanded by Allah, the supposed prophet, and Muslim men.
Is it significant that Major Hasan demanded of his matchmaking imam that his future wife wear a headscarf? Could it be that this “little piece of cloth” bears with it a profound threat to the safety and freedom of other people — and that those who wear this cloth know exactly what it means, even as they smile vibrantly at international conferences over the delicious halal food?
69. 69. twoninerkilo
Gee! What a surprize; a filthy murdering cultist phychopath, killing Americans.It’s happened before, and it will happen again unless Americans wakes up and realize, this PC BS is killing us. If it were up to me, I’d drag that jihadist SOB from that safe, comfortable hospital bed, and hang him from the nearest tree. Thirteen dead Americans is all the proof I need.
70. 70. tanstaafl
I guess Obama didn’t want Americans “jumping to conclusions” like he did in the Henry Louis Gates affair.
The President’s remarks following the tragedy on Thursday were wooden and off kilter, that is, when he finally got around to mentioning Fort Hood after quite a bit of off- topic blather.
71. 71. NCBob
I still don’t understand why Obama hasn’t invited Major Hasan over to the White House for a beer and a chat, America-hating Muslim to America-hating Muslim, about the things that are bothering Hasan and what Americans can change to resolve them.
72. 72. tanstaafl
…we have in place an administation that believes America is the root of all things bad in the world and that any attack on us and our institutions is simply just desserts.
If such were his belief system, he should be subject to impeachment under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution, high crimes & misdemeanors, patterned after English law, as his behaviors & remarks would constitute a disavowal of the fundamental principles of American government.
This doesn’t strike me as too far fetched, considering the loyalties of far too many of the individuals he has surrounded himself with in his administration.
“High misdemeanors,” referred to a category of offenses that subverted the system of government. Since the fourteenth century the phrase “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” had been used in English impeachment cases to charge officials with a wide range of criminal and non-criminal offenses against the institutions and fundamental principles of English government.
73. 73. biblio44
“According to CNN, President Obama has also cautioned against a “backlash” against Muslims in the military and in the country. This — from the charmer who bowed before the Saudi King and who betrayed Muslim women in his Cairo speech.”
What an absolutely stupid statement — even for PJM (and that’s goin’ some).
74. 74. MisterH
#75: That will never happen simply because the voting majority that put him in office got exactly what they bargained for. So much about his associations, his previous public pronouncements and his sympathies was out on clear display but the majority simply chose to either ignore or it or hope he didn’t really mean it because he seemed so darned likable.
75. 75. Jaladhi
I am sure the readers of this blog saw our army chief of staff worrying about the imaginary attacks on Muslim soldiersas as a backlash of Hasan’s murderous rampage!!! He thinks this is a real possibility. Had the Army booted the jihadist Hasan out when his evaluations were less than satisfactory 13 of our brave soldiers would still be alive and other 24 or 25 would not have been injured. Not word about how the Army is going to get the Islamist soldiers out but worry about their safety. PC minded media and our leaders cannot see how jihadi aggressors have claimed the status of victims with their support. with this mindset no wonder the army chief is more worried about them rather than the real victims of this heinous act.
PC lives on and we are doomed!!!
76. 76. Ann
Itoccurs to me that one other reason for this hasan murdering innocent Americans is that he was sexually frustrated and had decided, after being unable to find a wife with the help of his imam, that the only way left was those virgins as promised in that odd book of theirs. Just a thought, but it’s what other jihadists have been doing for some while now.
77. 77. Edmund Burke
I disagree with the terrorism label. This was a soldier, and an officer at that, carrying out a Pearl Harbor-like sneak attack on those whom he regarded as enemy soldiers. In breach of his oath to protect those soldiers — certainly. Deserving of conviction for treason and violent espionage in service of the enemy with a quick sentence of death — Of Course. But let’s reserve terrorism for attacks on civilians, not military sneak attacks. Of course, I am not saying that makes it better.
But imagine a Kentuckian enlisting in the Union Army in the Civil War, while keeping up a correspondence with his brothers fighting for Lee or Johnston. Then one day he emits the Rebel Yell and starts shooting his fellow soldiers in Blue. Terrorism, or a sneaky military attack? I prefer the latter. Leave the psychology out of it.
78. 78. sonny1
Face the facts. The conclusion is obvious. moslems have no loyalty to the USA. There should be a vast deportation of every moslem.
Send them back to where they came from. That’s my conclusion. They believe it is okay to lie to infidels. They are not to be trusted under any circumstances. Deport all of them and shut down every mosque.
The First Amendment applies only to American citizens. Get rid of them.
We’s be doing them a favor. They hate the USAso send them back, to hell.
79. 79. Philip S
Major Nidal Malik Hassan was practicing his Islamic religion, pure and simple. Hassan loved Satan’s Bible, sometimes called the Quran. Hassan loved Satan’s Bible so much so that he even distributed them as gifts before he went on a Muslim mission.
Major Hassan loved to carry out the commands of Satan’s Bible, and he did it with gusto. Quote: “Infidels are your sworn enemies,”(Sura 4 Verse 101). “Make war on the infidels around you,”(Sura 9 Verse 123 and Sura 66 Verse 9). “Be ruthless to the infidels,”(Sura 48 Verse 29). “Fight those who believe not Allah nor the Last Day,”(Sura 9 Verse 29). “Kill the disbelievers wherever you find them,”(Sura 2 Verse 191).
So Major Hassan knew what he was doing. He was fighting for Satan, sometimes called Allah. Muslim Hassan was fulfilling his mission like a good Muslim.
80. 80. Soldier_X
this is the same media that was certain that the Army was behind a cover up in the death of Ranger Tillman, yet now they don’t even bother to dig.
Why was prisoner Hassan transferred from Walter Reed to Ft. Hood? In today’s Army if you can’t punish a Soldier you promote them (it would not be PC to punish this fanatical mohammedan for his beliefs).
There are really two armies… the touchy feeley political army and the people that actually fight wars (The 18 Series, 11 Series, in operational units). Prisoner Hassan should be housed with pigs, drowned in pig blood and fed to dogs.
Something I’ve only seen mentioned once, here at the link below, on the Atlas Shrugs website, is that Major Hasan, the Ft. Hood gunman, was part of the Homeland Security Transition Team’s policy study at George Washington University right after the election.
http://www.gwumc.edu/hspi/old/PTTF_ProceedingsReport_05.19.09.pdf
Why isn’t that anywhere in the mainstream media? Also on Atlas Shrugs she points out that George W. Bush and his wife visited Ft. Hood on Saturday to comfort the soldiers and survivors of the attack. The actual commander-in-chief, President Obama, went to Camp David to relax and, no doubt, improve his golf swing.
Where is the outrage, I wonder?
Am I the only one who notices that even though this guy had clearly voiced his opinions and some internet postings of his had come to their attention, and he REQUESTED to be discharged, the Army would not discharge him.
This is all pretty stupid behavior for a “stealth infiltrator”.
Isn’t it a bit insulting to the Army to imply that despite the open admission of rather terrorist views, the Army still weren’t able to figure out he was a threat?
He sure fooled them, I guess.
Or their concerns about his behavior and about national security were overridden by their need for staffing at his level.
Has anyone stopped to think how difficult it will be to stop a Muslim attack when we are totally broke and China won’t fund our stupidity any more?
Two updates:
1. JN, The Director of Homeland Security made a big speech to Arab nations about how we are making every effort to minimize any anti-Muslim backlash. Say what?!*
2. Sen. Joe Lieberman is initiating a Senate investigation into the cause of this attack, citing the obvious regarding possible motives.
SORRY! I have corrected a couple of mis-spellings, below.
Thank you for yet another excellent article, Ms. Chesler.
The left-wing liberal, becoming increasingly radical, Irish media has excelled itself since the Fort Hood abomination. It is still saying that the reason for the killings are a mystery! It is increasingly portraying the mass murderer as the victim. The latest example was on “Newstalk Radio” this morning, a programme called “The Wide Angle” presented by ultra-leftist Karen Coleman. She went so far as to say that Muslims in the United States are now frightened of “another” backlash!! It obviously has still not registered on her sad brain that even after 9/11 there was NO anti-Muslim backlash in the USA. I texted her and asked her to detail one “backlash” incident, but she made no comment.
Ms. Coleman went on to plead victimhood for Mr. Hasan, saying he did not want to be deployed in the middle east because he “did not want to kill other Muslims”. Apart from the fact that, as an army psychiatrist, he would not be using a gun at all, Mr. Hasan obviously has no problem when it comes to shooting dead thirteen of his fellow human being non-Muslims.
The double-speak of the media was encapsulated in one small slip of the tongue by Ms. Coleman. At the introduction of the piece, she said they would be discussing the killings at Fort Hood “by a Muslim …”. She quickly “corrected” herself – it went like this: “………the killings at Fort Hood by a Muslim, eh, an AMERICAN – who is a Muslim”. What happened in her mind was so transparent: nobody is allowed to say ANYTHING negative about Islam or Muslims as individuals – and she had just done it! Hence, the immediate correction. She then interviewed some university guy from Ireland who was given the freedom of the airwaves to lay the blame for this most disgusting of atrocities squarely at the feet of anybody but the perpetrator, and, indeed, laying a lot of the blame on his colleagues for “verbally abusing” him as a Muslim. This madman also found a very complicated route on the way to coming out with the amazing conclusion that isolation from the majority, lack of opportunity and POVERTY had something to do with such things. Lack of opportunity? POVERTY? And here was poor old me thinking this particular terrorist was a psychiatrist on a six figure salary! Maybe I need a psychiatrist? GOD BLESS AMERICA! Eamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
No further explanations necessary for jihadi Hasan’s murderous rampage which Muslims have always done since seventh century. Is 1400 years of history not sufficient to explain every Muslim’s behavior towards us!!!
98. 98. TexEd
We need to contribute to Hasan’s defense fund. With enough cash, we can get his charges shifted from a military court to a federal court. Once in federal court,a pardon can be arranged by Holder, just as he did for Mark Rich. The costs probably won’t be too bad because Obama would sign it on a “fellow muslim” basis and, perhaps, an order from the Saudi king.
99. 99. TMF
You are a disgusting human being. What say you to the individual in Florida who went on a shooting spree as well? What were his ‘motives?’ He had issues. Just as this person, who happens to be a Muslim, does. This man had a red-flagged past…many things which should have alarmed those around him and given them the idea to perhaps get him some help, went unnoticed.
Such hate, such disgusting hate. You will understand one day what your rhetoric will get you in the end.
Contribute to what? Defense fund?? I’ll contribute to that… I’ll contribute the Rope from which to hang him in the middle of Fort Hood.
Let’s see, 13 dead? 42 Wounded? He was shot. There are witnesses. Forget spending tax dollars in courts and contributing to his defense. Try him Sharya way. Witness 1: “saw him shoot people”. Judge: “good enough for me. GUILTY”.
And hang him for treason and murder! 5 minute trial. 5 minutes too many in my opinion. Stop treating his wounds and string him up. GUILTY.
Next step, is start sending them home. Stop giving them humanitarian aid.
Countries like Saudi Arabia, with a GDP of 376 Billion dollars and we give them aid? Let’s give them some of the 54,000,000 Mulsims in Europe or let’s give them ALL the ones in America.
What people need to realize is there are nearly 2 Billion Muslims (potential extremists) in the world. Yet, Media and propaganda say fear the 17 million Jews of the world…
If the world did not rely on oil, Islam would have extinguished it’s own flame long ago.
Frankly, I hear “things like that” from intelligent atheist right-wingers all the time. And they are equally ahistorical. Christianity has evolved from the sole social, and thus also Western political and military power, to the role of peacekeeper and defender of humanity. Imperfectly? Of course. But to argue that this evolution is irrelevant, particularly in order to lump it together with a faith whose followers broadly, systematically, and materially preach violence, is to perform a pretty astonishing act of moral equivalence.
In other words, the existence of the Crusades, otherwise known as the war to end the Islamic pillage of Europe, is not some “root causes” excuse for the current threat posed by radical Islamic violence/ Unless, of course, you’re such a root causer that you believe no act of violence is unjustified.
All religions attract the mentally ill, and arguably, all people who commit acts of extreme violence have some degree of mental disturbance. So what? This is why we have legal codes and courts to deal with crime, instead of agorai in which to endlessly parse the offender’s intent.
I wonder if you hold the Left to the same standards?
104. 104. kochevnik
Chesler caught red-handed spreading zionist disinformation:
1. A ridiculous story planted in London’s Daily Telegraph makes Hasan out to be an old pal of the 9/11 terrorists. The Telegraph also reported that a mysterious Arab-looking visitor came to Hasan’s apartment 2 days before the shooting, like something out of a bad TV show:
“It was very unusual because he had never had anyone round before. He had long black hair and a moustache and a dark complexion.”
Remember, this is the same Daily Telegraph that last month ran a fake story claiming that Iran’s leader Ahmadinejad was born a Jew—a story that was quickly debunked as a disinformation plant. The Telegraph has a history of false plants–like the 2003 article claiming they had discovered “proof” that Saddam Hussein trained up the 9/11 terrorists in Baghdad.
Nevertheless, it’s working: now everyone from CBS to the Associated Press are reporting the Telegraph story, and the FBI is acting on the same tip, according to CBS.
We’ve got Obama talking PC crap, appeasing Muslim concerns. We’ve got the head of Homeland Security spewing the same garbage. We’ve got top military commanders on board with this rubbish. And of course, as always, our reliable media doing so, as well.
106 Babylonandon – There’s a good piece over at American Thinker from a couple of days ago on that very issue, including an embedded video of Hasan at a presentation with the Israeli ambassador:
106. 106. EamonnDublin
Ms. Chesler, I wish to use your excellent medium to respond to “TMF” who called you a “disgusting human being”. TMF then went on to somehow compare the Fort Hood murders to the recent Florida atrocity. Well, TMF, I have not heard anything about the man in Florida shouting “Jesus Christ is the Greatest”, or “Buddha is the Greatest”, or calling any religious name whatsoever for that matter. Major Hasan, on the other hand, according to many witnesses who were present, shouted “Allahu Akhbar” as he fired his guns. Now, I wonder what that could mean …………?? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
107. 107. TMF
Somehow compare? No, I do believe the comparison is right there for a sane individual to comprehend under simple analysis. Does it really matter what he said when he did the atrocious act which he did? No. What can you honestly pull from someone who obviously has a mental illness or some kind of problem going on when they are in that kind of a situation. To prove how absurd the author of this is, let me pull a similar example. Chris Benoit, former professional wrestler killed his wife, son and himself, but not before lying a bible next to them and highlighting certain words in the text. Does that make me believe that he had a pre-conceived plot to kill his family because he was doing it for religion? No. It makes me see that this individual obviously had something wrong with him (and he did, check the reports…steroids and drugs altering his mental state). The man shouted ‘God is Great’…he didn’t shout ‘I’m killing you all because I hate non-Muslims!!!’ Honestly, get a grip. Muslims say that phrase in a lot of circumstances, it just so happens that when you have right-wing baffoons who over-analyze something and TRY to make it fit some absurd agenda that it looks odd. You guys are disgusting and you will pay one day for your lies. What Ms. Chesler has done is undeniably wrong and unforgivable. To make bold-faced lies about an individual and a situation which NO ONE understands is ridiculous. To call this piece anything short of trash would be a disgrace.
108. 108. TMF
Where is the PROOF that he is a ‘jihadist,’ Ms. Chesler? What evidence do we have to support this claim? There’s nothing. He went to a local mosque which the media has already visited and listened to the word from an imam who preaches peace. I can’t wait for the ‘but the religion doesn’t preach peace, it preaches violence’ argument because obviously, even when Muslims condemn this event and condemn any acts of violence which have no reason, it’s ignored. Immediately Muslims everywhere condemned it and spoke out against it, but the right-wing crazies here will never see that. They’ll only see what they want to see which is their own paranoia staring them in the face.
To me, you are a jihadist…spreading a random act of hatred against that which you do not understand. To call someone a ‘jihadist’ when you know nothing of them except for some obvious truths which are that the man did something extremely wrong and he obviously has some issues. Do we call insane patients at hospitals ‘jihadists’ as well. Timothy McVeigh or any serial killer must be a jihadist then too if they have any religious affiliation whatsoever. In this day, there’s no such thing as a bad Muslim, only a jihadist, and apparently, all of them are.
109. 109. EamonnDublin
Dear “TMF”, I believe your sentence “You guys are disgusting and you will pay some days for your lies” serves very concisely to sum you up. I refuse to be drawn into an abusive slanging match with one whose use of the English language is wasted in insulting his fellow human beings. Presumably, whilst in your written word you stated “guys”, in your heart was carved “dhimmis”. I will pray that your heart loses your sadly obvious hatred for your fellow humans and grows to maturity in love and peace for ALL of your neighbours. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
“Where is the PROOF that he is a ‘jihadist,’ Ms. Chesler?”
Dude, he was up there screaming “Allah Upchuck!” as he gunned down unarmed people (per the usual proud Islamic tradition).
How much proof do you need?
What’s the guy have to have, a picture of the child-molester prophet tattooed on his fat butt, before you’ll believe he’s a jihadist?
This is standard Muslim jihadist behavior. A textbook case.
I mean the guy could be a Lutheran pretending to be a Muslim loon…but, I doubt it.
Fortuitous you mention the Perl Harbor false-flag event used as a prelude for war. We have the California oil billionaire building tanks for a pacific war in 1910. We have radar spotting airplanes, with reports swept under the carpet. We have a British spy, the original James Bond, planting a cake-shaped bomb which sunk a Norwegian sub because they spotted the Japanese aircraft carriers, and their report would upset WWII.
113. 113. HellenoChristian
They are all supporting each others. I was reading the articles about this tragedy, by an allegedly reformer: he tries to justify Islamic feeling toward other Islamic people, instead of condemning it.
How do you respect a criminal, terrorist, taliban (watch how they treat women in Pakistan and Afghanistan!) just because “they are your brothers/sisters in faith”? This is very insulting: who cares if criminals are of your same faith? If you are a citizen (with citizenship!) of America or of the West, YOU MUST RESPECT LAWS and have the same concept of civil Rights AND DUTIES. You deserve no exception because the criminal you are supposed to expose and catch belongs to your same faith – otherwise it simply had a definition, which is “MAFIA”!
For Islamic people/followers there is just something to be said: either they (freewillingly!) move/immigrate to our World and Civilization, to the West, and RESPECT OUR CULTURE/CIVILIZATION/LAWS, or they remains at home! Period!
Radicals, moderates … this is really a jocke and an insult to our intelligence. I know, Islam preaches that everyone who is not an Islamic one is an ignorant and stupid … but the problem is that Islam is ignorant and stupid. Actually others are neither ignorant nor stupid, and they are perfectly aware of how much dishonest (and criminal!) Islam (was and) is!
The problem is that when someone like Magdi Cristiano Allam (Italy) and Wafa Sultan (United Stated) tries to expose it, he/she immediately gets targeted by other Islamic people (radicals, moderates, reformers, whatever), and they start DEFAMING AND INSULTING him/her. EXACTLY LIKE MAFIA DOES!
Islam is a very huge and enourmous problem: it was and still be – for the whole rest of Humanity. It is exactely like hitlerian Nazism – and Islamic symbols aren’t different than hitlerian Swastikas. They should be completely forbidden, together with related Ideology.
The West already (and recently!) faced 2 World Wars against Totalitarianism: how comes it wellcomes this new (ancient) Totalitarianism which is Islam? I know: because if you reject Islam (or Islamic followers), Islamic hitmen/-women will threaten you. The problem is: even if you wellcome them (them, who follow their Ideology) they will threaten you and murder you!
ISLAM IS ILLEGAL. The greatest expression of itself and its essential Art of deceiving is that “religion” “of Peace”. In fact, Islam is exactely the opposite.
I don’t fear being attacked, kidnapped, murdered, beheaded, or blown up at my work place or in transit by a Christian, Jew, Hindu, Jaini, Buddha, Sikh, and etc. fresh from their prayers and places of worship, yet I do fear what the mosques are turning out upon us here and all over the world – mass murdering muslims.
I’ve noticed that not one person mentioned that this man enlisted – that is enlisted – into the military. Don’t tell me that he had NO idea of what the military does. He must have seen the pictures from the Gulf War, and all of the other situations that commanded US attention. He had the chance to quit the medical strand but kept on until he received his degree. Then, he murders soldiers because it is his responsibility to do so. When someone commits a crime the name of a religion, then he is a Islamic terrorist. If one commits a murder against someone they hate politically, then we call him a political terrorist. If someone murders in the workplace, then we call him a disgruntled worker. No matter the label, they are all sociopaths who use their warped ideas to excuse their actions. Their motivation determines what label they earn. I call them all “evil.”
Mark my words: There’s going to be a huge push to determine that Nidal Malik Hassan is clinically ‘insane’ and therefore cannot stand trial.
When that fails, there will be a move to have him tried in a civilian court so he can get a ‘fair trail.’
When that fails, he’s going to be court martialed and sentenced to death by firing squad.
Now, here comes my dream:
It’s a firing squad made up of women. Just prior to his execution, a giant pig is lead out and slaughtered in front of Hassan. One by one, the members of the firing squad step forward and dip their bullets in pig blood, then load their weapons.
The pig is skinned, and Hassan is told the skin will be his burial shroud.
Ready, aim . . . Fire!
