And Speaking of the Cold Civil War…

This excerpt is from the book Rules for Radical Conservatives by the noted Leftist radical, “David Kahane.” If you don’t know who David Kahane is, click here. And here. Buy it, read it, weep, and enjoy it if you can:

Despite all the evidence of the past several decades, you still have not grasped one simple fact: that, just about a century after the last one ended, we engaged in a great civil war, one that will determine the kind of country we and our descendants shall henceforth live in for at least the next hundred years – and, hopefully, a thousand. Since there hasn’t been any shooting, so far, some call the struggle we are now involved in the “culture wars,” but I have another, better name for it: the Cold Civil War

In many ways, this new civil war is really an inter-generational struggle, the War of the Baby Boomers. America’s largest generation, the famous “pig in the python,” has affected everything it’s touched, from the schools of the 1950s (not enough of them) through the colleges of the 1960s (changed, changed utterly), through the political movements of the 1970s and ‘80s (revolution and counter-revolution), and into the present, where the war is still being waged. For the dirty little secret is that all those fresh-faced kids, crammed together in public-school classrooms, have hated each other almost from the moment they first drew breath, and realized that they were to be locked in lifelong, mortal competition with the dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions of other kids their same age. From their first moment of self-consciousness, they were aware that they would have to fight for everything they got: for the love of their parents, for a desk in the classrooms, for a place in the elite colleges, for a job, for a title, for money, for everything.

It was back then, shoulder to shoulder in those crowded, stinky classrooms, benighted places where there was scarcely a grief counselor ever to be seen, where Attention Deficit Disorder and the whole host of other imaginary diseases we have since inflicted on you had not yet been invented (any kid claiming ADD would have been laughed at and, in Catholic school, probably slapped upside the head by the nuns), and where the idea of filing a lawsuit on just about any pretext would have been considered trashy, that our respective sides developed our deep antipathy for one other. My crew was resentful that we had to share space, not only in the classroom but on the planet, with inexplicably happy alien beings like you, who, at best, ignored us as you got on with your lives in pursuit of the chimerical “American Dream,” or worse, treated us with contempt as we whined, moaned, bitched and complained about the awful unfairness of life and the vast evil all around us and all that jazz. Just because you happened to be the so-called “majority” at the time didn’t mean we couldn’t start planning ways to take you down, to change things, to effect a fundamental transformation of your society. Which, in case you haven’t noticed, is now ours.

You admired strength, resolve and purposefulness; we were stuck with weakness and indecision. You saw the world as something to be conquered; we saw the world as a hostile force needing to be appeased. You dealt with life head-on, never complaining and never explaining; we ran home and told our mommies. You cheered when macho neanderthals like John Wayne or Steve McQueen kicked some “bad” guy’s butt, and swelled with pride at that whole faked “moon landing” charade, while we ogled Jane Fonda as Barbarella atop that anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi, and rolled around naked in the mud at Woodstock. Think of us as Cain to your Abel, hating you from practically the moment we were born, hating you for your excellence and your unabashed pursuit thereof while we were the ugly stepchildren. Well, Cinderfella – how do you like us now?

Eliminate God's laws. Declare Him dead. Replace him with god-kings, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Hugo Chavez, Barrack Obama. Revel in the 7 deadly sins But most especially in the lusts of this world, sex, drugs, 24/7 video-games, all obsessions. Make killing easy as in abortion so that the mass elimination of the human species to levels your new god-kings say are necessary for Gaia to live won't affect your faith. Be convinced that the world was stolen by those who have from those who have not which justifies your stealing it back by any means necessary. Do all of these things and you have our world today.

We view these people as our bothers, our sisters, our neighbors, and we continue to play by rules of fair play. Unfortunately for us, they are ruthless and absolutely committed to the total destruction of us and all we hold dear. Yes, it's a Civil War but in the end it won't be bloodless.

So the Left is beating it's chest and announcing "victory" in the Culture War? Nothing lasts forever; the Left is doomed if it thinks there won't be pushback, and a counter-revolution by the next generation.

So let me get this straight: all of the bile, all of the venom in baby boomers is the response to overcrowding? They were the proverbial bulge in the python and because of that, because competition for everything from parental love to college admission to simply being seen was fierce, because of that so many of them became vicious tearer downers of everything? Well, it's a theory.

It's not a virus but a gram-negative bacterium.

"...brigades of shrinks and “social scientists” (novelists manqué without any talent, otherwise they would be real scientists) arose to counsel us not to suppress our deepest id, but to let it have free reign in the real world lest it damage us in the imaginary world in which they habitually dwelled."

Said "imaginary world" is known as 'Meinong's Jungle.' (Google the Etymology of the word.) It's where you'd find Unicorns, floating cities, the sound of one hand clapping, honest politicians - you get the idea.
As for the state we're in? That is more like an abyss we're trapped in than a 'Civil War.' Wars can be WON! It may take several generations and millions of casualties to climb out of the mess we're in.
My attitude is, there's only one way out. Regardless of whether you're a subscriber to this blog (Read, conservative) or "opposition researcher," (Read, 'other!') the only way to discern truth from fiction, wrong from right, black from white? "Fact checking!" The truth is all that will set us free.

Perfectly put! The 60's generation of American Liberals are hilariously pretentious asses, pompous snobs and cowardly hypocrites.

There has been a lot of spamming by people inviting the participation in too-good-to-be-true internet cash-making projects (I think the whole gig is just the spamming & nothing else). People click on the "Report Abuse" link & they have been coming in here lately & deleting those. Obviously, they are also deleting any commentary that is posted that someone clicks on the said "Report Abuse" link.

So then PJM is much less tolerant than FireFox and even less tolerant than the Gay Gestapo, or at least part of PJM is. Is there a group vote or does any PJM'er have Queen of Hearts authority? I suppose you will now delete this comment and revoke my registration too. Facepalm.

According to my husband who was an OSU senior, Ohio State closed down the Columbus campus in anticipation of out-of-state agitators. Unfortunately Kent State didn't get the memo. The anarchists by-passed Columbus and headed to Athens.

According to my brother-in-law who was at Kent State, the agitators weren't there to protest the war, they were there to cause anarchy on campus, provoke, harrass the authorities, incite the resident Ohio students, plus provoke the national Guard. By the bye, most of the national guard were very young Ohio men doing their service.

Here is something for you. When I was in the service G-d's humor put two guys from each side in my unit. One was National Guard. One was a protester.

FS was the boy friend of one of the girls shot dead. The Guard Guy told this story. He was at the end of the Guard's skirmish line. A FBI agent in a suit fired at the students to start the festivities. The rest is dark history. There was not enmity between those two, they knew their roles. Hows that for incite?

Here is what I will say to Kahane. Even if you come for my guns I still get a vote.

Pushback? I have been hearing that since the 70s and it hasn't come yet. Maybe it will come. Maybe it takes a lot longer than any of us ever thought. But I've grown old hearing about "pushback" and I would like to live long enough to at least witness it's beginnings.

Speaking at length about the weaknesses of human nature in the face
of prolonged, unearned, unbelievable prosperity which would have
corrupted and corroded the soul of angels, and for which we will
all pay dearly in the near future; This is not news.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks civilization as we know it today is going to last forever is deluded; there will be that inevitable apocalypse, whether man made or natural, which will wipe out all but just a few, knocking them back to square one, where they get another stab at it.
