What if They (The Bad Guys) Believe They Are Winning?

July 16th, 2014 - 11:24 am

We discount many of our enemies’ public statements as sheer propaganda, or bravado, or just stuff “for domestic consumption,” but what if it’s what they actually believe?  What if Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and the Caliphate crowd think that the Almighty is on their side, that the U.S. and Israel are on the run, and that Judgment Day is imminent?  What if Vladimir Putin is dead set on restoring a Russian Empire?

In other words, what if our domestic-profit-and-loss model of foreign policy has very little to do with our enemies’ intentions and beliefs?

A remarkable quantity of the “analysis” of the current unpleasantness is devoted to explaining what is “really” going on inside the various hostile regimes and organizations around the world, the tacit assumption being that foreign policy is only understandable in the context of domestic disputes, power plays, schemes and whatnot.  Thus, Putin’s maneuvers regarding Ukraine or Moldova are reflections of inner turmoil, Hamas’s attacks on Israel show us the internal divisions of the movement, and the proclamations of one or another Caliphate are the result of power struggles within the Islamist universe.  Thus, Iran’s annoying refusal to come to terms with “the West” is because of an ongoing spat between Iranian reformers and hard-liners.

I think we ought to take their announced intentions more seriously, especially at the very top.  I think Putin, Khamenei, Mashaal, Abbas et al. are trying to avenge what they see as historic catastrophes, and I think they are their allies are trying to dominate and destroy us.  I think they despise and fear our freedom and democracy, both of which threaten their tyrannical rule.

So I think they hate us both for what we are, and for what they believe we have done in the recent and ancient past.  I think these are strong convictions, and I don’t think we are likely to talk them out of them.

Swift rightly said “you can’t reason someone out of something he wasn’t reasoned into in the first place.”

In other words, there is no easy, conflict-resolution negotiation way out of the war that has been launched against us.  Our enemies will wage that war until they have either won or lost.

Footnote:  this means that, contrary to the multiculti dreams taught to Western students, all men are NOT the same, do NOT want the same things, and will NOT come to the same conclusions when presented with the same “information.”  Lee Smith has some very good thoughts about the ways in which our foreign policy makers are more like Hollywood movie actors than serious strategists.

All of which brings me to the battlefields of Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon….

Salafi and Wahhabi Muslims controls the schools. Yes, there may be a military dictatorship in Egypt and authoritarian governments in other Islamic nations. But with control of the schools and mosques, radical Islam will take over these nations in the future.

Here, leftist control the colleges and have access to the minds of our children for 4 of the most formable years of their lives. To beat that we have to have a clear worked out alternative, not just sentiment and appeals to tradition.

I must assume that the obviously knowledgeable and observant columnists here have made or are subject to an editorial decision that keeps the incompetence and detached memes going. It is obvious what has happened; we didn't have an election in 2008, we had a coup d'état. The cabal put together by Soros with Ayers' communists, Gill Foundations' leftist trust fund babies and radical homosexuals, and the Middle Eastern money men Soros brought in has been installed to eliminate the US as a hegemon and bring about a socialist/fascist government in the US. They've been pretty successful. Ask yourself: If the Obama Administration were agents of a hostile Middle Eastern power, what would they do differently?

Art, that is too much reality all at once for most people.

My fallback has become getting acquaintances to go see D'Souza's "America", and getting friends/family to read Pacepa's Disinformation.

If they can digest those, then they are ready for more reality.

Michael, do you expect a reasoned response to Iran from this administration when President Jarrett is an Iranian. Yes, it is time to stop playing charades; Obama is the golfer, celebrity fan, and fund-raiser: Jarrett is our president for all practical purposes. Obama is the pretend president, good at mouthing empty platitudes, but an abysmal failure at anything to help or advance America and its people. We owe our loss of prestige and wealth to the disastrous situation of having an Iranian mole living in the White House.

the us was winning the Viet nam war until the media turned on this country and its military and ceded a winnable war to a loss.

No wonder others know what they can do, subvert the media with lies to gain the advantage and eventually the will to do what is necessary is gone, as people prefer their celeb news, x-boxes and living for the minute.

if I were a muslim I would thank we are winning, We commit crimes and atrocities and we get attacked back with #hash tag.

We get others to believe that muslims are moderate, when they are infiltrating and taking over countries,

and we have others more concerned about fake war on women and birth control than with what we are planning to do

And they are so blind and ignorant.

Yup good day for Muslims, and we even get leaders back for a deserter

they have no will to win, and we do

Ike is often quoted by libtards since he warned of many issues, they know the complex thing ( comfortable with complexity ).

What they select their amnesia for is altogether more vital ;

BEWARE THE FURY OF A FREE PEOPLE

The natural instinct of pols in a democracy is to deny any such situation exists for as long as they can because to acknowledge it means taking some kind of steps to deal with it and "Hard Choices" if I may coin a phrase.

Much more pleasant to play politics and usual.

As several have pointed out, to be ignored by the author, the US is turned from within. Its President is a sympathizer with evil. Until that is admitted and corrected by impeachment, etc., nothing changes. Obama will get worse as he approaches the end of his term.

Last time I checked, we were leaving Trashcanistan to the Taliban, Iraq was being divvied up between the Kurds, Iran, and ISIS, and the US economy was crumbling and it was being successfully invaded by barbarians.

I'd say the bad guys are winning on all fronts.

"Does anyone doubt that a Ukranian defeat of the Russians would advance the cause of freedom all over Europe? So help them!"

Tell it to Goldman, who--because he assumes we will decline--feels a need to make sure it happens now.

And for the Putin apologists who frequently show up and claim we should have supported the "Christian" Serbs and that there was no Balkan genocide by the Serbs.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/25/world/europe/serbia-srebrenica-apology/index.html

Yes, the Serbs were committing ethnic cleansing and genocide, and mass graves were found.

Michael, very well said. It's very Huntington, "Clash of Civilizations". Scoring this stuff can be like trying to understand how the East German judge is scoring the rhythmic gymnastics. Lake is correct that Hamas gets a lot of points just for missiles being able to hit anywhere. How much Israeli intelligence is surprised is another question.

There are different ways to score. Remember, Islam has been all about the long battles, they'll stay at it for 500 years if you let them, they are in no hurry. We should not let them. But they know "we" can't hardly bring ourselves to *do* anything about it. They know that. Do we?
