When The Abortion Ship Sets Sail For the Muslim World

AFP – A Dutch “abortion boat” has set sail for Morocco, its first trip to a Muslim country, to provide abortions to women who are exposed to grave health risks if treated domestically, its organiser said on Monday.
“The ship is on its way. We can’t yet disclose the place and time of arrival… We expect it to stay for up to a week.” Rebecca Gomperts, the founder of the Dutch non-profit organisation Women on Waves, told AFP by phone.
The group says that, according to figures published by the Moroccan government, between 600 and 800 abortions take place every day in the north African kingdom, where the procedure is illegal and taboo.
“The problem is that only about 200 cases are done properly, by women who have money,” the Dutch abortion doctor said, with the rest resorting to dangerous methods because they are unable to afford the expensive treatment.
This leads to the deaths of 78 Moroccan women each year on average, Gomperts claimed, citing statistics provided by the World Health Organisation.

By my math, that would be 678 – 878 deaths per year. If the mother dies, it isn’t like the aborted child somehow gets spared…

Do the women die from the abortion, or from husbands/fathers who find out about them? Article doesn’t say…
Reading between the lines, I’m getting something additional in this “humanitarian effort.”
Who are the Muslims that are not-so-slowly taking over the Netherlands? Moroccans, that’s who. So the Dutch rubbed their chins, got a devious look in their eyes, and muttered, “Why don’t we approach these ‘human weeds’ with Margaret Sanger’s sort of plan? Let’s go to the Moroccan baby factory and shut it down?”

I am pro life. That being said I do feel for these women who are seeking these illegal abortions, their circumstances must be dire to risk their life. But do these Dutch “rescuers” actually think that performing a quickie abortion then plopping these women back into their society will somehow solve the problems that led these women to risk their life in the first place?
I can sort of see your point, but why is it we’re constantly excusing women for being scared and confused? They’re people making decisions, like anyone else.
Let’s say a politician tells us he’s pro-life then votes in favor of some abortion policy because it’s politically expiedient to do so. Isn’t he also scared and confused?
Those women see abortion as a solution to something. Why are they any different than a Western woman who believes the same thing?

Well, of course, that’s how the camel get it’s nose under the tent. Then they will be aborting babies for birth defects, then gender selection.
A society that views it’s women only as property collides with a society that views it’s women only as vaginas. What could go wrong?
If I’m the Moroccan navy, can someone explain to me why I don’t just locate, board, and confiscate that ship? Re-flag it and make it mine? Jail all non-Moroccan citizens on board, then later release them out on the Algerian border somewhere, and let ‘em find their own way home?
Or, you know, just sink it, if it’s on its way back out to sea but still within my territorial waters, and that’s more convenient than boarding/confiscating.
I’m wondering how they are going to advertise their presence without incurring the wrath of the local authorities. And also, how are they going to “reach out” to those who need it but are in the interior of the country. They may “help” 5-10 people per port but that is nowhere near the 600-800 that “need” it. How are they going to sneak people on board then back to shore? Nobody is going to want to be seen getting on or off that boat.
