Condoleezza Rice playing Schumann’s Fantasiestucke, Op. 73 with Cellist Kjell Stenberg
Amidst recent rumors that Condoleezza Rice may get Mitt Romney’s nod for the vice presidency, it’s worth acknowledging that Rice would be pretty much the most accomplished person in high elected office in our country in recent years, possibly ever. She is a Russian literature scholar, fluent in the language, and a classical pianist at a professional or near-professional level. (The thought of her debating Joe Biden has definite comic overtones.) Here she is playing Schumann’s Fantasiestucke, Op. 73 with cellist Kjell Stenberg just last May:

Such beautiful music. I only wish that the recording was in better quality and with more sound deadening material used in the room itself.
Condoleeza Rice is an arttractive, intelligent, accomplished woman. She is also someone whose policial stsnces arr closer to those of Bill Clinton than those we hope for from Mr. Romney.
Woth all due respect to her intelligence and ability–and the fact that she is far more gracious and charming than most RINOs, her positions so far suggest she is, after all, a RINO.
Maybe I’m misreading her. She has, after all, been in “I need to agree wkith the boss” positions, however powerful, up to now. Perhaps, at one-step-away from becoming the boss,, she will reveal a different side. But, so far, she strikes me as being of the same political schopol ofthought as Colin Powell–a brave and heroic man, to whom the nation owes an enormous debt of respect–but not someone I’d want for President.
It sure would be a ticket to conjure with, tactically speaking, and I hope she makes a few (or a lot of) public statements to clarify where she stands on things like homosewxual hegemonism and the whimsical slaughter of babies. For, until we get our moral hjouse back in order, we will never be able to deal with the rest of it.
Secretary Rice is a marvelous pianist and a perforemer with real presence. If I’m not mistaken about her political positions, I hope she quits her day job.
I dunno if I would go so far as to call her a RINO, and as you say, she has always been in positions where she had to support whatever her boss did. But I DO know she is pro-choice. That is not, however, a game changer for me as abortion does not even fall into my list of the top ten things our federal government should be involved in. It sure as heck is not gonna decide whether our nation rises or falls. She is brilliant, and the fact that she would hit the liberals in both their black and female constituencies is just icing on the cake. And as the author stated about her debating Biden having comic undertones… that is for certain. I would pay money just to watch that.
Gonna try to post this again. Dunno how I get an error saying “You are posting comments too quickly, slow down”, when this is the first (well, second now since I gotta try again) time I ever tried to post on this site.
Please forgive my clumsy typing.
The one thing that Condaleeza Rice possess is the stature and the gravitas and the accomplishments to become a President. If you recall the open contempt President Obama was getting from Russian President Putin at the glacial joint press appearance after their recent meeting you would understand what I mean.
Barack Obama was rolled by Putin. It was pathetic. Why not be governed by accomplished people with vision? Connie Rice is BIG ENOUGH to be President.
She’d be great in the Cabinet, but she has no experience as an elected official. Palin is far more experienced than her in this.
