As with many on the left who sought to “control the people” by championing the president’s namesake bill, Dingell is stepping down from Congress at the end of this term. He’ll be 88; he’s been in DC for 60 years, and is the longest serving member of Congress. (And his father was a Congressman in the previous two decades, to boot.)
Despite admitting to the Detroit News that “I find serving in the House to be obnoxious,” curiously, he’s determined to inflict the same “punishment” upon his wife. “If she can serve 19 years, it’ll be a full century of Dingellmania in the House for Michigan,” Allahpundit quips in response.
The establishment liberal Blooomberg BusinessWeek “unexpectedly” dubs Dingell the “Best Friend of Detroit” today. So how has Detroit doing these days, as its best friend is finally retiring to the Congressional equivalent of Jurassic Park? 1. Don’t ask Dingell. 2. If you do ask him, he’ll tell you it’s Bush’s fault entirely.
