“Obama/Cameron Selfie Photographer to TNR: I’m Ashamed of Mankind,” the New Republic reports today:

Roberto Schmidt is the AFP photographer, currently the agency’s chief photographer for South Asia, who captured that infamous snap. Reached by phone in South Africa, he sighed heavily. “Why do people care about a selfie?” he said. “This is a sad reflection of our society.” He’d gone to photograph the memorial with a team of ten photographers. They moved some 500 images on the wire. “Good images, nice, strong images,” he said. “Images of South Africans dancing, smiling, chanting, which is the way they express mourning for a man they consider to be their father.” It was a long ceremony; he took many photographs of world leaders giving speeches and South Africans grieving. And suddenly he saw the Danish prime minister lift her phone to take a photo of her face alongside seatmates Obama and Cameron. Schmidt dutifully clicked away. “They’re in front of you, this happens, you take the picture,” he said. “But I saw so many good images from that memorial. And the picture that’s getting played is the president in a selfie. That’s kind of a bummer.”

“That’s kind of a bummer.” Let’s translate that from MSM to English: I broke news — I’m a successful wire service photog! But I broke news that made Mr. Obama look bad. I’ll never hear the end of this from my peers standing around the Monsieur Coffee machine in the AFP break room in their Paris HQ. I am a failure of a photographer. I’ll never be stupid enough to break news again. Mon Dieu! Where did it all go wrong?

Damn shame about Loan. He fought for his country but it was betrayed to the Communists by the Paris Peace Accords. He fled to his new country that he had fought with before and was scorned by scum not fit to lick his boots.

When I first saw the photo that old phrase "one picture is worth a thousand words" popped into my head; if anything ever underlined the truth of that point this photo is it. This powerful portrait of Obama as he is - shallow, juvenile and with ZERO respect for his office or the people who put him there - should be issued a special prize for journalistic excellence. The photographer may be sorry now that his ears have been boxed by the elites whose favor he curries, but in his heart he knows he took a fine photo of the absolute truth.

More likely, Schmidt is afraid of an IRS audit or a DOJ prosecution after the NSA plants some "evidence" on his computer.

Remember when the above sentence would be either a joke or the ravings of a paranoid schizophrenic. Good times, good times.

We are being told that what B.O. did with this selfie is nothing wrong, and taken out of context. So tell me why is his wife not sharing in this event? Why isn't she happy? could be that she might be showing a tad of upset by her body language and confirms what others are saying..

Yep! I broke the news and regardless of the fact that it is certainly germane to the assessment of the character and personality of obama, I should not have done it. It makes obama look like what he is - that is, an arrogant ass who doesn't know how to behave in public. And I and the "mainstream media" have been covering this type of information up since this pathetic excuse for a human being entered public life. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

and this is why B.O. wants pool photographer excluded and he wants to present the propaganda for the media. couldn't do it at this event.

He is ashamed of you people not his photo, or the fact that he took the photo. He is ashamed people would take the photo and make it appear nefarious. Oh no, the prez took a photo while people were dancing on stage, what a monster....You people take everything, twist it though your demented view of the world, and convince yourself it asserts your agenda. The site did it with the photo and now with the statement by the photographer. It is kind of gross and unfortunate.

Hi Brian N. "You people"? "Demented view of the world"? Serious question: do you think Michele Obama shares your benign view of the event?

He should be ashamed of saying he is ashamed of taking the photo. The media's responsibility is to report the news, whether they agree with it or not. This photo shows Obama in a bad manner since it ws disrespectful to the memory of Mandela.

This is an example of a slip up when the media is still trying to portray Obama as a demigod when in reality he is incompetent and and egotist.
