Barack to the Future!

Hey, given that Obamacare is the finest 19th century socialized medicine plan ever conceived by Otto von Bismarck, and the server for the Obamacare Website appears to be a Radio Shack TRS-80 from 1979, why bother with all this high-tech whizzbang 21st century Internet stuff, when there are perfectly good 1985-era fax machines around:

One day after being grilled by lawmakers over the dysfunctional Cover Oregon website, Executive Director Rocky King was back at work Thursday and some improvements were announced.

KOIN 6 News confirmed Cover Oregon has added dozens of extra fax lines to handle the paper applications being sent in by fax.

On Wednesday, King said they had received about 24,000 paper applications. That number now is closer to 30,000. But many people complained of busy signals when trying to send in their application by fax.

Michael Cox, the Cover Oregon spokesperson, said their office has one fax number but it’s an electronic interface that can handle more than one call at once. When a fax comes in it takes two seconds per page to be transferred into the server.

When the paper applications began, Cover Oregon was only able to take 500 applications per day. It was upped to 1000, and this week increased to 1500 per day.

Cox said he’s absolutely confident Cover Oregon has the capacity to deal with the applications.

“At this point we don’t receive 1500 faxes a day, and we’re going to bump that up even more in the coming days.”

In early 2008, months before the economy tanked, then-Democrat Rep. Paul Kanjorski blurted out the Democrats’ coming Barack to the Future plan:

“All we’re doing is going into the basket and saying, ‘Damn, what did they do in ’32, what did they do in ’34, what did they do in ’36,’ and we’re pulling them out, dusting them off, giving them a paint job, correcting the fenders a bit, and we’re using them,” Kanjorski said. “To get us through the horrendous problems we may have over the next several years, we’ve got to make these old programs work, and we’ve got to be as inventive as hell.”

The left has long had a cargo cult mentality that traps them into the worldview of the FDR era. Who knew that they were taking advantage of the finest technology that 1934 and ’36 has to offer, as well?
