Blue on Blue Rodeo Action?

August 11th, 2013 - 10:03 pm

You should probably follow this Missouri State Fair thing,” Moe Lane writes. “Because it is promising to blow up quite entertainingly in Missouri Democrats’ faces:”

Short version: a rodeo clown at the Missouri State Fair made rough fun of Barack Obama – I have no idea whether it was inappropriate or not. More to the point, I don’t have to care, because ultimate responsibility lies with Democrat Jay Nixon, who appointed the people that run the Fair. And, frankly, it would not surprise me in the slightest to hear that a Southern Democrat might have acted badly.

Moe links to Missouri resident Dana Loesch at Red State, who adds:

A rodeo clown at the Missouri State Fair over the weekend donned an Obama mask instead of typical clown fare. The clown, a participant in the fair and not officially representative of the fair, broke the new golden rule: thou shalt not mock the President. [Click over to Dana's post for a photo of masked 'Bam -- Ed]

Senator Claire McCaskill called it “shameful.”

“If what’s being reported is true, then it’s shameful and it’s unacceptable. The State Fair is funded by taxpayer dollars, and is supposed to be a place where we can all bring our families and celebrate the state that we love. But the young Missourians who witnessed this stunt learned exactly the wrong lesson about political discourse-that somehow it’s ever acceptable to, in a public event, disrespect, taunt, and joke about harming the President of our great nation. Missouri is better than this, and I expect someone to be held accountable.”

The acceptance of taxpayer dollars equals the forfeiture of free speech. Democrats should be careful with that rule, considering their policies.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon called it “offensive.” He perhaps should have appointed a different Fair board and Director of Agriculture, who works with the Fair board. If Democrats are angry, they should look inward. Fun fact: seven of the eight board members were appointed after Nixon took office.

And as Dana reminds her readers, today’s incident wasn’t the first time “a president was represented at the rodeo:”

T.J. Hawkins rolled out the big inner tube, and the bull lowered his head, shot forward and launched into the tube, sending it bounding down the center of the arena. The crowd cheered. Then the bull saw the George Bush dummy.

He tore into it, sending the rubber mask flying halfway across the sand as he turned toward the fence, sending cowboys scrambling up the fence rails, hooking one with his horn and tossing him off the fence.

But that’s different. Because…well, because, just you shut up, that’s why!

MCCaskill and I have very different definitions of "shameful." For example, I find it "shameful" to dodge paying taxes on a private plane.

This is nothing. Apparently, it is disrespectful to the President (Obama) to file a city bankruptcy in federal court.

You see, Obama has decreed, reality must not be permitted to intercede.

And what of Hollywood? In the movie, Point Break, they depicted men in presidential masks robbing banks and shooting up LA. Doesn't Hollywood receive tax beaks?

"The acceptance of taxpayer dollars equals the forfeiture of free speech. Democrats should be careful with that rule, considering their policies."

I have gone through this argument with liberals on my Facebook page. They assert that any conservative organization or church that doesn't pay taxes forfeits their First Amendment rights. When I point out liberal non profits and the fact that 47% don't pay taxes and ask if they, too, forfeit the right to free speech, religious expression, etc. they are suddenly all "Oh, but you can't penalize the poor or charities!" Oh, really?

I often find Democrats are their own worst enemy. Get the popcorn, because this story is going to get very entertaining.

The first article I read describing this incident reported the crowd as responding enthusiastically, clapping and applauding loudly. If I were a Democrat, *that* would be what would bother me: that Obama's rep is so extraordinarily low right now that an average American outside-the-Beltway crowd would applaud a clown making fun of it. Dem's would probably have preferred that the crowd boo at the clown, but they didn't.

The Democrats not only demand that we see clothes on the emperor, they demand that everyone proclaim them to be the most beautiful clothes ever worn by man, beast, or flower of the field.

Our leaders deserve to be mocked regularly. Not just President Obama, but ALL our leaders. Wasn't that long ago that the left was telling us that they were doing their patriotic duty by mocking President Bush.

On the question of government funding of political speech, was the rodeo clown paid by government? If so, then maybe the government as employer would have the right to fire the rodeo clown. On the other hand, no way should government be able to force other rodeos from hiring him for political speech they don't like.

Gosh, it sounds like the media/left/democrooks think making fun of an incompetent black president is in bad taste, something on the level of making fun of a Special Olympics bowler, eh?

"The acceptance of taxpayer dollars equals the forfeiture of free speech. Democrats should be careful with that rule, considering their policies."

What they believe it that acceptance of any funding or 'benefit' from the government denies all rights such as religious freedom or as you note freedom of speech. The idea is that you become a slave of the government because you have accepted the funding, even if the 'funding' is a fee for a service rendered. We won't have Catholic or Christian hospitals in a few years because of this evil principle. There won't be any 'non-profit' or charitable religious organizations either, except the ones that love abortions and buttsects (oh and Islam of course!).

Its an attack on civil society, the existence of institutions outside the state. The attacks on the family are of the same type.
