Straight Out of Orwell

“The Digital Superstate is Useless When It Matters,” Mark Steyn writes in his latest weekly column:

If you had the misfortune to be blown up by the Tsarnaev brothers, and are now facing a future with one leg and suddenly circumscribed goals, like those brave Americans featured on the cover of the current People magazine under the headline “Boston Tough,” you might wish Boston had been a little tougher on Tamerlan and spent less time chasing the phantoms of “Free America Citizens.” But, in fact, it would have been extremely difficult to track the Tsarnaevs at, say, the mosque they attended. Your Granny’s phone calls, your teenager’s Flickr stream your Telecharge tickets for two on the aisle at “Mamma Mia!” for your wife’s birthday, and the MasterCard bill for dinner with your mistress three days later are all fair game, but since October 2011 mosques have been off-limits to the security state. If the FBI guy who got the tip-off from Moscow about young Tamerlan had been sufficiently intrigued to want to visit the Boston mosque where he is said to have made pro-terrorism statements during worship, the agent would have been unable to do so without seeking approval from something called the Sensitive Operations Review Committee high up in Eric Holder’s Department of Justice. The Sensitive Operations Review Committee is so sensitive nobody knows who’s on it. You might get approved, or you might get sentenced to extra sensitivity training for the next three months. Even after the bombing, the cops forbore to set foot in the lads’ mosque for four days. Three hundred million Americans are standing naked in the NSA digital scanner, but the all-seeing security state has agreed that not just their womenfolk, but Islam itself, can be fully veiled from head to toe.

We’re told that universal surveillance has prevented all kinds of atrocities we can never hear about – an answer straight out of Orwell. Yet, oddly, in the ones we do hear about, the perps are hiding in plain sight (Maj. Hasan with “Soldier of Allah” on his business card), the intelligence services do nothing (the Pantybomber known to the CIA but still permitted to board the plane), and the digital superstate is useless (the Tsarnaev photo rang no bells with the facial-recognition software, but was identified by friends who saw it on TV).

And thus, the bozo leviathan blunders on. Big Politically Correct Brother sees everything … and nothing.

The Founding Founders could not be reached for comment.

Hey, the whole mechanism of Sharia / jizya / etc. is to make the lives of non-Muslims as miserable as possible so they will convert.

Even if they do prove this system helped prevent some terrorist incidents, they still have to prove that money spent there was more effective, and less intrusive, than money spent elsewhere, like having more FBI agents tailing potential suspects, and having FBI agents infiltrate mosques, and terrorist enablers like CAIR, which while being more intrusive to muslims, especially potentially radicalized ones, would be far less intrusive to the rest of us.

Public Schools & Guns
From a friend.....

Today a recently retired public school teacher that I’d not seen in several years, visited. All I ever knew of her politics was she despised Bush. We got on the subject of the grammar school boy who chewed a pop tart in the form of a gun and was expelled. I mentioned that this silliness seems to be constantly in the news all around the country. Here’s a shocker.

The lady was a member of TEA & NEA. She said that the reason this is being done is to create a generation of future voters who consider guns evil and would be more inclined to amend and remove the 2d Amendment.

If you want to change a nation’s culture, control the education of their children. In my day all education was exclusively a state operation; no federal money, no federal control, and each state’s teachers’ union was more in keeping with the politics and views of the majority voters in their state.

The first compulsory public education was in Germany long before anyone heard of the Nazis. Once the structure is set in place at the central level, it will be used by those who “know best.” If we got back to a 50 independent states school system it would defeat the attempt to make everyone think alike.

Orwell was way to early with “1984.”

Until this Greenwald/Snowden story had come up, I'd forgotten that Charles Johnson of Dan Rather/Col. Killian memos fame even existed.

If LGF and the apparently paid by the tweet for defending the NSA crowd are this desperate to rebut a very thin Declan McCullough story, imagine their blood pressure when a real honest to God leak comes out showing the 'metadata' they insist is so innocent for the NSA to collect on everyone includes every pol's dials to straight/gay escort services in D.C. and this data is being snatched up warrantlessly and sent to the Obama White House.

LGF -- das ist Festung Stalingrad! Die NSA loving ubermensch back the Paulbot untermenschen!

our most truthful and see through (transparent) p.o.t.u.s. is on the ball. by having the i.r.s. give more attention to tea party, patriot and religious right groups applications, he was proving that he is just trying to make sure they are getting all the help they need to fill out all those forms, no matter how long it takes.

weuns figure if I get good at this childlike excuse making for our chief executive intern, maybe I can get a good job on the major news shows. being immensely qualified, i'll lie about anything, with a straight face (hunt & fish a lot). heck, for a price I can even be a sharia, or whatever they are called.

"We’re told that universal surveillance has prevented all kinds of atrocities we can never hear about – an answer straight out of Orwell. "

If I had not bought those new high end and very expensive golf clubs, my score would have been even worse yesterday.

Post hoc, ergo propter hoc is a Latin phrase for "after this, therefore, because of this." The term refers to a rhetorical fallacy that because two events occurred in succession, the former event caused the latter event.
In addressing a post hoc, ergo propter hoc argument, it is important to recognise that correlation does not equal causation.

Magical thinking is a form of post hoc, ergo propter hoc fallacy,

If we hadn't been abusing your Fourth Amendment rights in the most egregious manner with this massive data collection and monitoring program, even more terrorists would have slipped through our fingers.

How many Social-Con churches is the DHS monitoring as part of the VRWC?
If they have even one agent hanging out at a Baptist Church, and are not being allowed to find out what treason and terrorism is being planned in the mosques across America, some head need to roll - and probably will when the jihadi's encounter them (see: London).

The insane thing about your statement is that it is exactly how the middle class Muslims live day to day. They go along to get along, hoping to pass through unseen and unfettered by the all seeing eye.

I think it would be a hoot if we could get 30 percent of the home owning population to do the paperwork required to have their home designated as a Mosque. I think it would cause a ground fault in the .gov database.
