Well, That Answers That Question
“Is Occupy Wall Street America’s ‘Arab Spring?’” I asked almost a year ago:
Funny, I’ve never compared President Obama to Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak, but that’s just me:
The “Occupy Wall Street” protests and former White House “green jobs czar” Van Jones are the beginning of an “American Fall,” according to Rep. John Larson, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.
In Tuesday evening remarks before a group of visiting activists and journalists from Egypt and Tunisia, Larson said the United States has drawn inspiration from revolutions in those countries and, as a result, is experiencing its own “Arab Spring, if you will.”
Wow, I know Rep. Larson is probably extremely frustrated with President Obama these days, but I’m assuming he’ll leave office peacefully next year if he loses his reelection bid. So perhaps he should hold off on tacitly calling for the NATO air strike, at least for now.
Still though, I can see where one aspect of his analogy holds up rather well.
In more ways than one, as we learn today: “Photo: Egyptian rioters were wearing Guy Fawkes masks.”
Again, this shouldn’t be at all surprising to anyone (except perhaps Andrew Sullivan).
Update: And maybe Hillary Clinton.

I’ve heard so many idiots, both inside and outside of the media and politics, wax lyrical about the “Arab Spring” as if it were some kind of coming out party for baby rabbits after years of mean old man winter (played by the Bush Administration, naturally) keeping them shivering underground in their holes by blowing the cold winds of war on them (or some such silly s**t.) Well, nitwits, here’s your “Arab Spring” coming right at ya! You wanna recite some poetry or make some cute comparisons now? Just call it the “The late summer when reality kicked a bunch of naive twirps upside their stupid heads.”
