In 2008, journalists loved to report on candidate Obama drawing record crowds. Today? Well, insert obligatory Spinal Tap “Selective” reference here: “Obama camp — We are intentionally limiting crowd size at rallies.”
In 2008, the Politico Website went all-in to help elect Obama — note the number of names of then-Politico journalists on the infamous JournoList. Today, as Steve Green writes, Politico is reduced to plaintively begging the president for a mercy interview: “You Never Call Anymore, You Never Write.” As Steve adds, “Here’s a tip, gents: He wouldn’t walk all over you if you weren’t so carpet-like.”
Speaking of the JournoList, former(?) member Ta-Nehisi Coates writes in the New York Times that Obama has become Dick Cheney. As Moe Lane writes in response:
- Coates has it precisely backwards: we are not afraid of Barack Obama now. Which is why everybody in the GOP is mocking him. And while I mocked Barack Obama in 2008 I (and a bunch of other people) were effectively blocked from propagated by the mainstream GOP, which frankly was scared of Obama back then. This cannot be brought up again enough times: Barack Obama has always been like this. Some of us told you so, back then. You should have believed us.
- Coates also seems to think that Barack Obama has turned into Dick Cheney. That is, of course, absurd: if Obama was Cheney he’d be doing a better job, not to mention a more ethical one. No, what Barack Obama has turned into is the nightmare devil-troll edition of Dick Cheney that lurks in the collective subconscious of the American Left. Which, again, both means less competence and ethical awareness than the original.

OK, the left red-lining the Godwin meter is pretty much a constant in every presidential election. Just ask Harry Truman.
But unlike the MSM’s demolition job on Sarah Palin, at Commentary Jonathan Tobin writes, “Campaign to Demonize Ryan Won’t Work”:
The attacks on Ryan are politically tone deaf because it is not enough to merely target a man’s views to get voters to put them down as an extremist. Those attacks must be linked to something in the candidate’s personality, demeanor or record that strikes the public as disqualifying. But in Ryan, Democrats are confronted by a person with a positive vision, intellectual depth and integrity and a nice personal touch that has been able to transcend partisan differences both in Congress and in his Wisconsin Congressional district where he has consistently won the support of Democrats and independents. Negative ads can be useful but in Ryan, Democrats may be confronting a target that is just too smart and too appealing to besmirch with impunity. Nor can they be sure that by doing so they are not hurting their party with Catholics who might otherwise be enticed to back Obama in November.
The Paul Ryan who toured Florida this week with his 78-year-old Medicare recipient mother is not one that will be so easily trashed as a threat to old people. Expecting female voters to fall in lockstep with Obama merely by screaming about abortion may be equally futile.
In a post titled, “When Truth Goes Viral,” Stacy McCain writes, “Iowahawk’s observation — ‘Paul Ryan represents Obama’s most horrifying nightmare: math’ — is well on its way to becoming world famous, and may yet become the final epitaph on Obama’s presidency.”

This President could not be doing more damage if he was trying hard and all this is when he still has to come back before the electorate. And so much of this really is deliberate and ideological subversion as if the Constitution was merely an impediment.
Michelle does not hide her emotions well. I noticed her facial expressions in that adoring ET plug of an interview that she was concerned. Given the overpolling skewing in the name polls one wonders just how bad each campaign is seeing.
Romney and Ryan will win in a landslide if they insert the words “liberty” and “constitution” into every sentence they utter …

Not bloody likely. However, not even B.B. King could sing the blues deep enough for how badly the enthusiasm gap has widened against Obama/Biden. Incompetent, divisive, race-baiting, national security leaking, border state suing, gun running, no budget producing, gaffe ridden, …this has been Moe and Larry desperately looking for a third stooge.
I had a close relative who suffered from emphysema, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease and septicemia. And, I suspect Obama’s internals are worse.
If I’m right, Obama is avoiding the doctor because he doesn’t want to hear either the diagnosis or the prognosis.
The American mass media playing doctor to Obama is like Conrad Murray being “doctor” to Michael Jackson. Give anything and everything he wants, until it does him in. Failure to say no to granting his wishes like JournOgenies has made him a weak President, incapable of handling the slightest, mildest rebuke of his policies, his multiple gaffes, his inane fiscal recklessness, his maltreatment of allies, or his utter failure to produce a budget…much less a plan to tackle an economic crisis.
The JournOgenies thought, like Conrad Murray, that by playing the obedient lackey, they could stay the “ultimate insider” reveling in the magic of Political Neverland.
Obama is now left to troll the journo-back alleys like a puff piece junkie, trolling People, Entertainment Tonight and TMZ for a fix on his ego, mainlining and snorting powderpuff questions, like which superpower would he use if he got high enough on ego that wasn’t ever stepped on.
He chose multiple languages. I guess figuring that if he opened the borders wide enough, only he could speak to the Tower of Babel he created and they would vote him king for life.
Perhaps crystal math is his eventual downfall. Or maybe he will check into a mathedone clinic. But don’t hold your breath that the JournOgenies will stop granting him wishes. The Media Murrays will continue to conspire until the last gasp. Count on that.

At first I thought the cover was a fake and that it wasn’t true. Then after I read the story, I discovered that it really was true. Amazing. Terrible when the dogs you took for granted in 2008 start bighting back, huh? Couldn’t happen to a “nicer” guy. When you’ve lost the crew at Newsweek, things are really, really, bad, champ. Let’s keep up the pressure all the way to November. I think the mainstream media is starting to smell blood, and that can’t be a good thing for the Obama campaign. It’s about time.
I think Newsweek’s trashing of Obama is a cry for attention from a failing magazine in need of revenue. It wouldn’t surprise me if this issue becomes the top seller of the year.
And it wouldn’t surprise me if Newsweek issued an apology in the next issue for daring to lash out at Dearest leader.
Ok, all his college records, work records, passport records, and college papers have been hidden. No real long form birth certificate has been released (no, not the forged one). And he no longer can just vote “present”. For the first time in his life, O’Dismal will be held accountable for his actions. He can lie about taking $700 billion from Medicare, but the facts are the facts. He can lie about his accomplishments, but the unemployed are still unemployed. The pipeline is unbuilt. The Gulf Of Mexico, ANWR, federal lands, Atlantic coast, and the Pacific coast are not being drilled. Coal is being shut down. Dams destoyed. And the Central Valley is still shut down. The Catholic Church has filed multiple laws suits against mandates. The border states are fed up. The Solar and Wind companies that he funded are all bankrupt. Our credit rating has been downgraded. We’re $16 Trillion dollars in debt and O’Dismal has NO PLAN. The MuBROS are installed in power in Egypt. He told Putty Put to wait until after the election for more “flexibiltiy”. Unless you are on welfare, who wants this guy back for another four year of this?
Oh, he has a plan alright, it’s called Marshal Law, which he changed last spring to state, in crisis, everything in the United States of America belongs to HIM, from coast to coast. Read it! It’s there. Can you imagine somebody actually stealing this great country? His ego says he CAN!
What needed fixing in this country long before Obama, was a big reduction in the powers of the presidency to prevent this sort of stupidity, not only on the part of the president, but the stupidity of the voters who elected him.

The Newsweek cover was indeed a surprise to me and a welcome one. But, my enduring question is, and has always been, have we passed the tipping point. In other words are there too many takers and too few makers. I am not optimistic.
I wonder about that, too. I do think there are more takers than makers- the only reason why the scales seem evenly balanced so far is that they don’t vote.
I agree there are too many takers, but I also think he is counting on the unions to pull him through. I’m stuck in a union and have requested a political rebate. Others should check if they can do the same I’m ASFCME and I’m voting Romney/Ryan. My country means more to me than my job.I figure it’s easier to get a new job than a new country.
Newsweek cover it says everything you need to know about The American left. The failing of their policies have nothing to do with their ideology. Everything will work fine and we all reach nirvana if they find the perfect IDOL who can implement true lefty utopian vision. Once again Obama ended up being one of those false Messiah who couldn’t deliver the undeliverable. And now the left is turning on him for implementing their unworkable policies. When a person is put on a pedestal, it’s a long way down. Americans elevated him due to their nebulous, poorly defined and unexamined feelings. Since the basis for his popularity is so vague, it’s pretty easy for it to disappear, especially in the face of some fairly nasty facts.
2008 was a “Perfect Storm” election. Republicans dug their own grave by being involved in hundreds of petty scandals across the country, and by having fallen into the tax-n-spend morass that is Washington, DC. Along comes this fresh new media creation, financed by the George Soros Billionaires Club, secret overseas sources, and sold to the suckers as the Messiah.
The excitement is gone, killed by a down in the dumps economy and more of the truth about ObamaRx having emerged. He is desparate to “get out the vote” which is why Eric the Red Holder is attacking voter ID laws across the country.
They may steal this election, but they will not win it.
And G-d, it feels GOOD to be right! (In both senses of the term.) Sad that the country has had to suffer so, though…
The race card is played out and the shiny has worn off. Too busy campaigning… I’d love to see Romney or Ryan lay out during a debate the sheer lack of productivity (from a cold hard statistical perspective) that marked the last year (or maybe the whole term) of Obama’s presidency. Just how many days did he spend golfing, fundraising, campaigning, or doing diddly squat?

No, Menachem, nothing of significance has happened lately. But about a year ago some serious crimes were committed in Israel by US citizens. They were so serious that Obama’s FBI was sent in to investigate.

I was right, and not that people are listening to me, but what I wrote then has come true: Obama is a pretty face with a DJ voice, but a lonely mind only seeking approval by an absent, womanizing drunk, abusive father. He got it from America instead, butit isn’t enough. How he’ll react to being disregarded by much of that same country will be frightening to behold, which we will over the next couple months.

The media is still mostly in the bag for Obama. But it reaches a point where their own interests outweigh those of the Obama campaign. And we reached that point. Tina Brown will still be sending out her flying monkeys Frum and Sullivan to bash Romney/Ryan, but if she can sell some copy bashing Obama she will do so.

This is the full agenda Mr. Obama’s second term in office will address and implement. At first blush is an aggressive agenda for everything American. Funny, seems this is O.K. with some Americans…and they will vote four more for “O.” However, there are those Americans fully aware of dangers posed by a second term Obama, wanting an America with courage, honor and Values- intending to vote Romney/Ryan. All wishful thinking. The demographic changes since the 1980s have doomed the GOP. 2012 is probably its last chance to take the presidency before being relegated to a regional party. Just look at the electoral map. It might come down to a few thousand votes in Florida again.
