Roger L. Simon has some thoughts on Obama and the “I” word:
What scares me most about Barack Obama is the narcissism/megalomania. It’s a consistent theme throughout his life with which I (first introduction of the “I” word) could bore you to death. But it jumped out at me this morning again from the top of the Drudge Report – “Obama Says We’re Out of Money”. Quoth the President:
Well, you know – look we are trying to help an auto industry that is going through a combination of bad decision making over many years and an unprecedented crisis or at least a crisis we haven’t seen since the 1930’s. And you know the economy is going to bounce back and we want to get out of the business of helping auto companies as quickly as we can. I have got more enough to do without that. In the same way that I want to get out of the business of helping banks, but we have to make some strategic decisions about strategic industries…
It’s I…I…I… Wouldn’t it be more reasonable, simpler, to say “The government shouldn’t be in the business of helping banks, auto companies, etc.”?
This relates directly to Obama’s views on torture, Gitmo and the like. Everything is preening, being seen as good; nothing is reality. Jack Goldsmith, writing in a much remarked upon article in TNR, sees this as a positivie. Say one thing – do another. You can do what you want as long as they like us. Goldsmith’s argument is that Obama will do the same things as Bush, but under “friendlier” (therefore better received) packaging. I am not so sure. Too often the narcissist is convinced of his own words. I have frequently seen this with actors. And Obama does remind me of that old joke about actors during interviews – “Well, enough about me… What do you think about me?”
Orrin Judd also noted the constant use of “I, I, I, I, I, I”, I-nauseum in his speech opposite former Vice President Cheney on Thursday.
Bill Kristol asks, “Doesn’t Obama’s self-regard sometimes seem greater than his regard for the position he occupies?”
Only sometimes?
Update: Welcome Tammy Bruce readers!

A belief in God is interpreted by others as a dedication to self-restraint and honesty. That person (we think) will be more honest and trustworthy, because he believes that he owes something to a more powerful overseer. We see him as proposing policies that are good for mankind, God’s people, rather than suspecting that these policies may only be good for himself or his group.
But, how do we know someone believes? A criminal or narcisist will be the first to claim belief, to manipulate others and gain trust.
Obama and God
When God talks to you through your inner voice, it is even better than prayer. Obama experiences this every day, in his own words, revealed in a March 2004 interview with a reporter on religious issues. It may be good when a person declares their submision to God. It may be bad when he claims to have a daily conversation.
Why Should I Believe You?
Most people only believe someone from their group. Those in the tribe are trusted, those outside are automatically wrong.
use of pronouns:
I: What he wants to recieve future credit for
We: (usually accompanied by Try,Want) – (a)An issue he is unsure of and he doesnt want it to fall solely on him. 0r; (b)An Strawman agreement he doesnt nor cant debate its logical fallacy
We
-we are trying to help an auto industry (By taking it over)
-we haven’t seen since the 1930’s(re: crisis). (This is NOT anything like the Great depression, or even the recession of 70′s or 80′s)
-we want to get out of the business of helping auto companies as quickly as we can. (hes KNOWS he’s not GOING to get out of the auto industry. Hell either be running them or on side of UAW)
-we have to make some strategic decisions about strategic industries… (you do? like which will fail, and which you will take over?)
I:
I have got more enough to do without that. (Every other thing that isnt this, I am doing)
I want to get out of the business of helping banks, (He wants credit for winning class warfare vs. banks, while continuing to fund them – GMAC?)
There are several types of people who seek the presidency. One is the man who has a vision of America that sees America as, above all else, exceptional in world history. This man believes that he has something to offer to the furtherance of that vision. They tend to be capable, yet humble, men who do not blow their own horns, and who have a great respect for the office. They speak to the nation infrequently, and only when it’s necessary. They understand that they are a temporary executive employee of the American people, and that politics must come second, particularly when national security is involved. Ronald Reagan, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, even George W. Bush (historians will one day bear this out) are such men.
Then there is the second type. This man is a narcissist. To him, America is somewhat special, but can and should be castigated when it’s politically useful. He believes in himself above all else, and seeks constant affirmation and praise, which is his due; after all, he’s the president. He’s not above lecturing others–which he does frequently–for their benefit, of course. He is a superior being, a legend in his own mind. Humility is not in him, but he fakes it quite well when necessary. He has little respect for the office or those who put him in it, and runs the White House like a college fraternity. Politics is job one, first last and always, and is always aimed at increasing and maintaining his self image and political power. He’s very good at faking empathy, at feeling other’s pain, but he cares only for himself. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton are prime examples.
But we now have a new type who takes the worst qualities of the second type and expands on them. This man not only does not believe in American exceptionalism, he believes America to be inferior, racist, sexist, discriminatory, you name the negative, he buys it. He is not only a narcissist, but a malignant narcissist who must be on national television virtually daily, and who believes it his job to lecture the world on a regular basis. His policies are correct because he is correct and incapable of error. Such narcissism is a thin veneer covering a massive inferiority complex. Thus is he unable to speak without a teleprompter. Lies come easily to him, and the bigger the lie, the better. It is likely that he doesn’t even recognize that he lies, because anything he says must be good. He knows what is best for all, and none can reach his level of nuance, sophistication and intellect. He can fake sincerity, but not with the skill of a Bill Clinton. He can fake empathy, but is easily angered by those to whom he is supposedly empathetic. His imperiousness often comes to the surface when he throws a “treasured” friend or advisor under the bus at a moment’s notice, turns away busloads of kindergartners, insults the mentally disabled, or is scornful of his own vice president. There is nothing he cannot accomplish merely by talking to despots who will be, like the media, overwhelmed by his obvious coolness and glowing superiority.
We have elected a horribly flawed human being as our president, and we will pay for it. The only question is how much damage he will do and how much, if at all, it can be reversed.
Thanks to Tammy for the link and thanks to the author for the welcome.
The day this administration ends can not come soon enough. And by “this administration” I am including the pres, vice-pres, Nancy, Harry, Franks, Gov Corzine, and the many others who co-conspired to put Obama into the WH. Soros included. Wouldn’t mind seeing Kos, ACORN and a few others drop by the wayside also.
Chicago style politics has lasted way longer than any few million people should allow it in their own city. Having a very few people run the lives of millions should have been a wake up call to a lot of people who were late responders like McCain.
Don’t think I will ever get over McCain saying that people shouldn’t fear Obama. I still voted for him as the alternative option, but I really wanted Palin.
Alinsky should be allowed to stay in his grave and his words with him. What he offered the world was not help for the poor but a way to use the poor to help those who wanted power at any cost to anyone.
They are all malignant narcissists with one goal in mind…control the U.S. and make it their baby. So much like a teen mother or other person without a life, who needs babies to make them feel important, and then force them into servitude to take care of them for ever.
As long as they can just keep convincing people to put them in govt. they will hand duties over to others below them, and live their happy, happy lives thanks to the money and work of the people they are supposed to represent.
America still has not woken up. The 60+ percent approval rating for Obama proves that the same number of people do not realize that we are much worse off than we were 6 months ago. Nor do they realize how much worse it can get in the next six months.
