Jim Geraghty writes that the GE network — who else? — is fantasizing about President Obama’s future:

MSNBC’s First Read:

Who will be the first columnist to write: Could Barack Obama’s post-presidential career be on the Supreme Court?

Well, you guys just did.

Really? It’s not enough that we’ve had 100 days of telling us Obama is the greatest president ever, that he’s the best qualities of FDR, JFK, RFK, Reagan, Clinton, and Ataturk combined, that people are already arguing that two terms for him isn’t enough, but now we have to think about coronating him to his next extremely powerful position after this?

What next, figuring out some way to download his brain into a cybernetic body that won’t age, so that we can have his presence around forever?

Yes we can! “We Are the Removeable Memory Device We’ve Been Waiting For.”

    Consider the source. MSNBC, feh.

I have assumed since last September (or maybe earlier–I don’t know if I wrote down anywhere) that the plan is to issue an Executive Order declaring an “emergency” or “martial law” or “a good idea” (which will be upheld by a suitably staffed Supreme Court) thek will retain him in office until he can get the Constitutional Amendment through declaring him President-for-Life, or King, or Dog or something.

Everything you heard about Bush’s supposed intentions I believe will be perfected in the next several years.

I’ve little doubt that most of the MSM – especially those on MSNBC – would literally fellate Obama if given the chance.

  4. RedLion,

Too late — they already promised that to his immediate Democratic predecessor in the White House. ;)

  5. This isn’t unprecedented. (See William Howard Taft.)

The “GE NEtwork” while truthful, doesn’t flow well of the tongue. Why not use ‘MSDNC”.

As SDB said, WH Taft was Chief Justice. Pres. Obama would have to do some serious eating to measure up to Mr. Taft.
