“Men on Strike” Now Ready for Pre-Order

April 18th, 2013 - 5:57 am

My publisher let me know that my book is ready for pre-order at Amazon. I would very much appreciate it if readers could help me get the book up in the Amazon rankings as this results in advance orders for the book. I was told that men would not buy a book about gender issues or men’s rights but I believe that is incorrect. Men don’t buy these books because they are generally critical of men and look at gender issues through the eyes of women. Men on Strike: Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood, and the American Dream – and Why It Matters is a book about men, how they feel, what they think and how they have reached the point of opting out of marriage, college and other aspects of American society. It is a book about many of you –the readers of this blog and the insights you have given me over the years.  I thank all of you for that.

It is important to bring men’s issues, rights and concerns into the mainstream. Please help me to do this by purchasing a copy of the book. I may not be the best person for this job but I am here and trying to get the word out. Please support the book and men’s rights–even if you just use the book as a door-stop, buying it will let the publishing world know that there are men (and women) who care about men’s issues.

You can pre-order my book Men on Strike: Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood, and the American Dream – and Why It Matters by clicking on this link. Thanks!

Update: I see the book is up to #377 on Amazon and #1 in Men’s Gender Studies. Thanks so much –let’s try to get it to #1 on Amazon: it will then be hard for the mainstream to ignore.

Your every command is my deepest and only wish!

Geez loo-eez, why don't you just tell people to buy the damned book?

Anyway, I was just recently reviewing the part in The Book of Zed where he goes over how it's a boycott, not a strike. -Of the "traditional business of her sex" (Mencken).

I noticed immediately that you expertly finagled that in the title by being "inclusive" of both. lol

Perhaps you could do a post on how you got it right, or maybe not.

Dr. Helen - My husband and I are looking forward to reading your book. It was through you that I first became aware of the true level of misandry in our society. I'm amazed at how much I see it now - it's everywhere. Thank you for being a voice to raise awareness of this issue and help many to take the blinders off.

Does Men on Strike touch upon men's issues outside of the US or is the book primarily for US readers?

Oops, my mistake, I see that you want to know about men's issues outside the US. It is mainly for US readers, however, there are examples of men in Australia and the UK who have similar problems and concerns.

Well for me that was a no brainer. I read your (and your husbands) postings all the time. I am happy to pre-order. I was going to buy it anyway but any contribution I can make, no matter how small, is happily given. Zach

I don't buy dead-tree books anymore, but I'll be happy to pre-order a Kindle version if you give us a link to it.

Sorry, I should have said that the kindle version should be out around the same time as the hardback book comes out in June.

I'm pretty sure other Kindle books have been available for pre-order... I remember ordering one and looking forward to midnight to tick over which is when it would be automatically sent to my device (only to discover its release was midnight PST, and I'm on the East Coast!).

It's a shame that's not the case with your book, as it would help your ranking.

Could I suggest you add it to Apple's iBookstore too? I find the iBooks program a bit nicer than Kindle, and as a nice bonus you actually get a higher percentage of sales than Kindle offers.
