Extra! Extra! World Agrees on How to Solve Syrian Civil War!
“The early bird might catch the worm but the early cat catches the bird.” –Me
Here it is at last. The perfect case study of the “international community’s” diplomacy on the Middle East, as quoted from a Wall Street Journal article describing efforts to resolve the Syria conflict:
And the article has the perfect headline, too!”
“World Powers Reach Syria Compromise”
So the problem is solved, right? Scroll down for the stunning solution.
“An international meeting in Geneva on Saturday on Syria’s crisis agreed, with support from Russia, to support a political transition. However, officials at the meeting said any chance for a political transition to succeed rests on the willingness of the Syrian regime to cooperate.”
That’s right! The powers have agreed to a transition to a new government which will go into effect as soon as the current dictatorship agrees to be overthrown and its rulers flee for their lives and watch their supporters probably be massacred. Perhaps the world will then install a new Islamist government in Syria, forcing it down the throats of the real democratic opposition, which will be dedicated to spreading revolution and striking against Western interests. And the opposition isn’t happy about being asked to leave the regime in power until the dictatorship decides to step down.
Isn’t diplomacy wonderful?

There’s a “real” democratic opposition in Syria? Why wasn’t I told?
That sounds a bit too optimistic, from what I’ve heard of what’s going on elsewhere. The problem with the Middle East is that, if you’re going to sympathize with leaders there, you’re essentially going to have to choose between loonies and tyrants. The sane people have all immigrated to the West, and they don’t want to return, under any circumstances.
I’ve heard the one about the bird as “the early bird gets the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese”.
Thank you Mr. Rubin for what the Germans call “Galgenhumor”, viz., humor of the scafold. An example would be, let us say, the hanging of someone is held up until he can scrap up the money to buy the rope. And worst of all, the man to be hanged begins to feel embarassed because of his insolvency. The only trouble with my humorous interpretation of your article is that, for the Syrians, it is no laughing matter and for the rest of us it shows the incompetency of the world’s salvational efforts.
I’m glad this little problem is solved.
The world is beginning to see the Europeans much as described by Nigel Farage’s tirades in the European parliament. Their performances though they have a cast of thousands are not applauded but the butt of humor, no one takes them seriously except themselves. It is not a case of the emperor has no clothes but that they do not realize are wearing clown suits.
What would be your choice about guys- good looking or good personality?
