The week just past was a great one for the New American Revolution — that guerrilla assault by alternative media minutemen on the amassed redcoats of the Empire of Lies.
Leading the charge was Internet publisher Andrew Breitbart. Breitbart, of course, exposed lefty New York Congressman Anthony Weiner as a lowlife and liar — but of equal importance, he re-established himself as the muckraker of integrity he is. After Breitbart suffered slanderous blackballing from left and right alike for his handling of the Shirley Sherrod affair, it was a genuine thrill to see him vindicated. Standing before the biased reporters he’d scooped once again, he challenged them, “The media says, ‘Breitbart lies, Breitbart lies, Breitbart lies, Breitbart lies.’ Give me one example of a provable lie. One — one!”
Less dramatic, but also noteworthy, Glenn Beck announced the launch of GBTV, an online video network that will run his TV and radio shows and other content when he leaves Fox News at the end of the month. The often-embattled Beck has recently been replaying some of his past political predictions on air — predictions for which he was sometimes called crazy and which have more often than not come true. It’s been a convincing reminder of what a truly invaluable and moral voice he is.
More. Ann Coulter released her new book Demonic, putting forward the thesis that the American left is the party of the mob. With all the hot babes following her lead into the ranks of the commentariat, it’s always good to remember that Coulter backs up her camera-ready looks with whiplash prose, rapier wit and dagger-like insight: a one-woman arsenal of democracy. The book has already rocketed to the top of the Amazon list.
I cannot begin to image what things would be like without the alternative media! The wired world could not have come any sooner, and seems to arrived in the 11th hour of this battle, just in the nick of time. Let’s hope it was soon enough! =’[.]‘=
Breitbart is fantastic! All of the people listed above deserve a “shout out” as does The National Enquirer, for its work on the John Edwards story. And thank you, PJM. Drudge too. The only other sites I go to for news are realclearpolitics and Rasmussen.
I wonder if the MSM will ever regret going “all in” for Obama. Perhaps on the coasts there are enough like-minded people around them cheering them on, here in flyover country, we think they’ve gone insane. Perhaps they think fact-based reporting is so yesterday, for people without imaginations.
You left out one very important player in the entire Weiner affair – Ace over at Ace of Spades HQ (ace.mu.nu). I would also credit Patterico. While Weiner and the press were spinning, Ace was working this story non-stop and kept it going. True that Breitbart gave the coup de grace and Weiner himself turned into Tricky Dick (cough!) but Ace’s reportage was amazing. Is it any wonder that this government and the leftists want to shut us down?
After last week, the blogosphere and alternative media have truly become the actual mainstream. Right on.
The two people who have done the most to alert us to the idiotic incompetence of the thug Obama administration are Beck and Palin. Ace doesn’t respect Palin even though she is the only GOP politician capable of helping the nation to reverse its descent into moral and material nihilism. Ace is PNG in my book.
Yes, Ace did an enormous amount of work and kept the story alive and, most importantly, funny, when people were beginning to wonder if it were true. His headlines are only surpassed by his stories.

I wouldn’t get too cheered-up over the Weiner debacle. Weiner embarrassed the Left politically, not morally — remember, they disdain moral standards, except when it comes to the absolute moral requirement to abort Down’s Syndrome babies carried by Republican women — and the embarrassment mostly derived from the sluggish and uncertain reactions of Weiner’s defenders.
I understand the need to rev ourselves up. The past few years have been horrible ones for America, and surely there’s some pleasure to be taken in even the smallest victory. However, true celebration time comes when The Won is displaced from the Oval Office and has to go back to being a community organizer, ObamaCare has been repealed in full, and a balanced budget (with a little left over to pay down the debt) has been enacted by a conservative Congress and president.
I can understand the jubilation of conservatives over the Weiner fiasco, but I would not characterize “the Left” as a bunch of libertines. They have a moral code that is different from that of that faction of the Right represented in these comments. Clare Spark: You’ve got some good distinctions at that blog post, and they can be helpful in distinguishing between the different threads that exist on the left, but one thing your post seems to confirm is that most of them use “fascist” in an overly broad and rather ahistorical sense to denounce “the right” which they are also guilty of misrepresenting.
Speaking simply from personal experience as someone who has spent most of his adult lifetime either in or on the edges of the academic world, one of the things that turned me off the worldviews of the left in the first place was simply the elitism inherent in them, and the puritanical intolerance towards any dissent which was not coming from a place further to the left. So I would say that the conservative tendency to lump them all together is in some respects a reaction to being similarly dismissed in kind.
Regarding the Weiner controversy, though, I’m inclined to agree with Francis Porretto’s point here, namely that the congressman’s actions were more a political embarrassment than anything else. In fact, I’d go further to say that unlike some congress critters (Charles Rangel, Maxine Waters, and others come to mind) who have been guilty of very serious ethical failings (if not outright crimes), the Weiner controversy is an embarrassment to them largely because it is so visual: it’s easy for just about anyone to judge the congressman based on the images, whereas, it takes much more knowledge and imagination to have an opinion about what Rangel, Waters, and others have done.
Both Fascism and Communism are statist, big-government, planned economic left wing ideologies. The left has merely latched onto “Fascism” as a political epithet because of the handy excuse that a vanquished Nazi Germany left them. But the bigger antipathies between Stalin and Hitler were over territory, not over their supposedly differing ideologies as the propaganda of the time purported.
Well calling conservatives “communists” wouldn’t have worked very well for The Left, would it have. Not when it’s The Left that has striven to adopt and implement every principle of Karl Marx’s political theory–and who seem to be succeeding nicely.
Actually, the legacy media has begun doing that in recent years. In 2009, when the nascent Tea Party was unhappy with RINO Dede Scozzafava, Frank Rich wrote a piece for the Gray Lady titled, “The G.O.P. Stalinists Invade Upstate New York.” As I mentioned at the time in a video, it was perhaps the only instance of a Timesman using the word in a pejorative sense.
In February of the following year, Chris Matthews of MSNBC upped the ante twice. As Newsbusters, noted at the start of the month, “Chris Matthews Compares Conservative Republicans to Murderous Khmer Rouge Regime.” He ended the month comparing the GOP to North Korea.
Fortunately for all concerned, Chris ended 2010 back comparing the GOP to Nazis once again. Can’t go wrong with a classic, no matter how ancient and hackneyed.
It seems to me that you are all being played. The Weiner story has allowed the Left to come out as champions of probity. With this as distraction, the work of THEIR government continues apace. WHAT are these “democrats” with their conjoined twins the RINOs DOING to the nation and her laws while the public is exercised about a moral assininity from a bit player on the stage? Minor in view of the behaviours of establishment Media and some (many?) of the stars in the cast list. Some behaviours ,outrageous to even the most modern, exposed despite compliant establishment spokespersons to keep them “private”.
Malpractitioners at the forefront of the hue and cry for Weiner, e.g. the best smirker in their cast, WJ Clinton. Be very careful, do not suppose that their sudden interest in “morality” or whatever is anything other than feint.They’ve been at the game far longer than the alternative Media and bloggers. And the major difference between the war-horses of the Left and the alternative Media stars: the Left has nefarious intent, while the alterntives still seem to believe that the game is open and not fixed.

With all due respect, New York is really not as you paint it–just those on the left, and yes, there are plenty of them. But New Yorkers on the right are making a difference. The Ground Zero mosque is one example. You have New Yorkers like Pamela Geller, Rudy Guiliani and others, who are fighting the good fight. Be careful when accusing, because by doing so, you might be losing some of your staunchest allies. Please don’t take this as a personal assault as it isn’t meant to be–I understand why you might feel this way, but I needed to say something when I felt attacked by you.
Honestly, the past couple of weeks have been amazing in terms of a conservative insurgency in the media. And about time too. When Andrew Breitbart took over Weiner’s mic at that infamous press conference, I knew we were witnessing something fantastic and dare I say it: revolutionary.
We’ll know how effective this revolution is when the LMS realizes its situation and responds with solid, honest and accurate reporting. That’s after they’ve rid themselves of the sanctimoneous, elitist drones, retrained reporters to recognize real news and not to slant information to suit their sense of entitlement and to keep their aliances with the left.
J schools have to be eliminated or at least understand that the lefist dogma they preach has damned them into irrelevance. Contemporary reporters have no clue about their biases and sneer at those who point them out. In other words, they have learned nothing and won’t until they’ve been purged of their ideological and psychological defenses.
And let’s not forget that the main stream media was beaten badly by Andrew Breitbart with the Van Jones and ACORN scandals (although much of the credit for exposing Van Jones should go to Glenn Beck). But the final exposing of ACORN was all Breitbart until Glenn Beck put it on his TV show and the main stream media was taken completely by surprise. I still think the main stream media’s days are numbered. Once the older World War II generation dies out and the Internet generation takes over, it will be dead for sure. Most people today get their news from either the Internet or Cable (especially FOX News), so I don’t really know where the main stream media is going to get its future viewers. Just take a look at the New York Times’ readership, which is declining at a remarkable rate and the ratings for the Network News programs, which are going down just as fast. The new media is here. It’s just the fault of the main stream media that they have not caught up to that fact yet.
In Canada we now get our news from the new conservative network, Sunnewsnetwork. How refreshing.
I cheered at Beck’s successful campaign to get rid of Van Jones. But I’ve always been disappointed that he didn’t go on to lead us in getting rid of several others I think are even worse. Take Science Czar John Holdren, who thinks America needs to adopt China’s one-child, forced-abortion, forced-sterilization policies. Or Cass Sunstein, who thinks that free speech should be restricted for “the common good” and that animals should have the same legal rights as human beings in our courts. Or Samantha Power, who wants to see U.S. troops defending the future Palestinian state up to and including invading Israel. Or Kevin Jennings, the “Safe Schools Czar” who is a pedophile and advocates the “queering” of our schools. (He has since left, for his own reasons, but Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit led a campaign against Jennings from the moment he was appointed.)

Take a look at the leaders of the MSM and you would think we had them “out brained” at least. However I would caution that the MSM that we think of as liberal includes our friends at the “fair and balanced” Fox network too. They are just as likely to spin stories and squirm to avoid direct confrontation if not blatantly “not cover” certain stories. Murdoch who heads this company called Newcorp also owns the wall street journal and has sold a 10% interest in the company to the Saudis–not to mention that he personally believes in amnesty for illegal aliens. Soo does that mean Fox is full of crap too. Not totally and they may not in the same lot as the rest however they are definitely an “inside the beltway” protect the status quo categroy.
Bottom line is that the antitode to these people and the last bastion of true defense of our liberty are the conservative bloggers like Rush and Brietbart who I have unlimited time for and support.

We need to find the way to appeal to the young Internet users. I believe that voting group will be easily swayed by a Soros Internet blitzkrieg and will be an important factor in 2012. Coulter has sometimes been criticized among conservatives for being incendiary rather than “persuasive.” But her role is not to be persuasive. It is to encourage the virtuous and infuriate the wicked. She provides encouragement, pleasure and arguments for the virtuous while causing the vicious to lie awake at night in impotent rage, tossing and turning and triturating their teeth into a fine white powder. This shortens their life and removes them from the voting roles earlier than would otherwise be the case. It also stimulates business for dentists, who are mostly Republican.
More, her readiness to address hostile crowds on campuses provides an example of courage and an inspiration. How many cases can we think of where a liberal chooses to go before a crowd of hostiles?

For those who don’t watch Red Eye on Fox News, you missed one of the best shows when Greg’s guest Anthony Cumia likened Breitbart’s impromptu co-opt of Weiner’s press conference to the time Jimi Hendrix opened for The Monkees. Breitbart will sometimes stumble, but the guy is passionate and his purpose is true. He’s not so self-important that he won’t admit and apologize for a mistake. And all the Times and the Post have left is rooting through Palin’s official emails like raccoons? Next they’ll feature full-color photos of B-celebrities at the beach with cellulite thighs and shrink down to a more “ecologically-friendly” tabloid size that fits conveniently in the racks at the checkout counter.
We need to fight tooth and nail to maintain freedom on the internet. If we lose here, we’ve lost the whole ball of wax and the evil ones know it.
Whether they win or lose is up to the players of the war. If their ‘motives’ and tactics are the same, they loose in the end….or in the least just become equals. Sofar, they’re representing themselves as equals in motive and tactics….at least those representing politics!
While the rest of the nation is more interested in the substantive issues confronting the nation and the ideological war, the political punditry and ‘jounalists’ of the ‘revolution’ are embroiled in personlized morality attacks and tactics popularized by Alinsky….if you can’t make a stand on the issues, attack and attack the character of the individuals in opposition.
Mastering ‘diversions’ away from the most crucial issues facing the nation, is no winning strategy in the long term, in my opinion.

The message is true, so their only recourse is to belittle and attempt to destroy the messenger.

There are citizen journalists out there, invisible, working their regular jobs and then offering comments like the commenters here or researching on their own and sending in article after article on sites where they do not get paid. I’ve know people like that who have been at it for 3 years with no financial reward. In between they go to rallies,call their reps, go to town hall meetings, meet at local tea party events-all the while trying to earn a living-heck some are unemployed trying not to give up-these are the minutemen.

You’re up against an ideology that is raced based and sees white folks as a problem in the same way Nazis saw the Jews as a problem. No Conservative wants to take this on because Reps don’t have the protection to talk about race like Liberals and minorities do and so come off as race obsessing just addressing the race language they are confronted with.
This is an insidious pickle and one that will not be easily confronted. The way to do it is to show up CNN and MSNBC and its contributors in such a way as to effectively put a blindfold on their comments and then link those comments to hate speech from the past.
To do otherwise will be to simply confront the same one word “arguments” about racism, privilege, profiling and all the rest. The first step should be to call out, shame and discredit all the people who have supported Obama – cut him off at the knees by taking a close look at where he came from but not in isolation as has been done in the past.
We as Americans have been trained to see racism as coming only from people with hoods, swastikas and stereotypes of gum chewing sherifs. To beat that, one must then similarly attach Obama and his cronies to those same stereotypes. To not do so leaves the Left with the same sheen of civil rights protection they have enjoyed for decades but they have overstepped themselves.
The Left has been given more than enough rope to hang itself with an ideology that is so mad one cannot differentiate between The Onion and reality, between the NAACP and a hate group; it remains only for smart people to take up the slack.
The debate will not do that as we will continue to be inundated with Third World populations that will vote Dem while otherwise wrecking the place. That is enabled by calling anyone against it a racist. Even the most conservative politicians will come nowhere close to talking about ending immigration and so you will have 450 million people in the U.S. in a few decades, 90% minorities from the middle east, Africa and Latin America.
