Speaking Truth To Evil

From an AP story on Iran and terrorism:

“We will continue to look and see if the Iranians were involved,” Bush said. “I have long expressed my concerns about Iran. After all it’s a totalitarian society where people are not allowed to exercise their rights as human beings.”

Wow. Bet they’re still chewing on their wingtips at State over that one. Kudos to Dubya for finally telling it like it is. I bet this little quote (via the free Iranian blogosphere, natch) makes an impact in Iran in the same way Reagan’s “Evil Empire” speech lifted the spirits of Soviet prisoners a generation ago.

Speaking truth to evil in this case may be late in coming, but it’s still more than welcome. John Kerry could do a lot worse than endorsing Bush’s remarks.
