Treason? Louis Farrakhan Leads 'Death to America' Chant, Calls U.S. the 'Great Satan'

Louis Farrakhan, the notorious anti-Semite leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI), traveled to Iran on the eve the eve of the midterm elections in the U.S. He condemned America for reversing the Iran deal and reapplying sanctions, going as far as to support the Iranian condemnation of America as “the Great Satan.”

“Is it not true that you have called America the Great Satan?” Farrakhan asked in a video published by the Middle East Research Institute (MERI). “Well, if you believe what you say, then would not Satan be actively involved in trying to destroy a nation that is set up on the belief and practice of submission to the will of God?”

Indeed, the Islamic Republic of Iran has enshrined a harsh Shia vision of Sharia (Islamic law), based on applying Islam to all realms of life via state control.

“Islam” means “submission” in Arabic, and the name of the religion refers to the idea that all Muslims should submit to Allah. Enforcing this submission is the goal of radical Islamic terrorists like ISIS. Muslims disagree on how that submission works, however, and many patriotic American Muslims have argued that, despite Islam’s long history of uniting Sharia and state, it is not the government’s business to force people to practice Islam.

Farrakhan, whose racially charged version of Islam unites the religion with a brand of black power politics, sided entirely with Iran over the United States, even going so far as to lead a “Death to America!” chant. The NOI leader did not explicitly say “Death to America!” but he did say “Death to Israel,” and then led the crowd.

Farrakhan chanted in Farsi, “Death to…” leading the crowd to add, “America!” He started again, “Death to…” with the repeating refrain, “America!”

Journalist Sobhan Hassanvand captured the moment from Iranian TV and translated. Before this “Death to America!” chant, an Iranian presenter said, “Listen to leader of Nation of Islam chanting ‘Death to America.'”

According to the MEHR News Agency, an Iranian government outlet, Farrakhan also condemned U.S. sanctions in a meeting with  Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council, in Tehran on Sunday.

“I understand how the enemies have plotted against the Iranian people and I would like to stay alongside you to stop their plots,” Farrakhan declared. He condemned President Donald Trump’s support for the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman as news emerged surrounding the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

The NOI leader called for pan-Muslim unity. “Satan seeks to divide Muslims and wants them to kill each other, while God tells us in the Quran to be united,” Farrakhan added. “Today, I warn the American government that sanctioning Iran is a big mistake.”

The Constitution defines “treason” to include “adhering to [the United States] enemies.” Farrakhan’s remarks arguably fit this definition.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

At least six prominent liberal Democrats have posed for photos with Louis Farrakhan, and some have never explicitly condemned him. Indeed, the photo of Barack Obama with Farrakhan was kept secret until after Obama’s presidency, for fears that the photo would have kept Obama from ever becoming president. To his credit, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) did disavow Farrakhan, but he lied about when he first disavowed the notorious anti-Semite.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who has become a notorious “Resistance” leader and who has urged protesters to disturb Trump administration officials, lovingly embraced Farrakhan and has yet to denounce him. Neither has former attorney general Eric Holder, who has also made inciting remarks against Republicans.

Farrakhan has delivered utterly disgusting remarks demonizing Jews, comparing them to cockroaches. In the wake of the worst synagogue shooting in American history, Democrats should entirely disavow him. Now, they should disavow him for treason, as well.
