Ann Coulter appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday evening to explain why she was not able to speak at the University of California at Berkeley as scheduled.
“Well, they changed the rules every ten minutes. I kept agreeing to all of their conditions — they were hoping I would cancel,” she said, joking that they had stipulated that she’d have to give the speech from a hot air balloon at three in the morning.
“But I kept saying, okay, okay, whatever you want … and then they just up and canceled it and then they randomly rescheduled it and then my allies turned tail and ran at the last minute when I think we were about to achieve total victory,” she explained. “If I didn’t have any sponsors, I didn’t have Berkeley.”
“Is it fair to say, bottom line, that the threat of violence is what prevented you from speaking?” Carlson asked.
“That’s what Berkeley claimed,” Coulter answered with a laugh. “There are ways of dealing with violence. That’s why we have a police force!”
She continued, “That insane press conference that Berkeley administrators and Captain Alex Yao … with the Berkeley police last week … the police captain’s argument was ‘we can’t have Ann Coulter, there’s gonna be violence!’ Well, I don’t know … call a cop!”
Coulter said the main point of her “searingly brilliant speech” was that “federal written law on the books about immigration developed over generations by both Democrats and Republicans.” It “should be enforced,” she insisted.
Carlson said that he agreed with her emphatically and marveled that the proposition was considered “too radical” for Berkeley.
Coulter also announced that she has debuted a daily “border wall update” on her Twitter feed to track the president’s progress on keeping his famous campaign promise. “Number of miles built today: zero. Number of miles built since Trump’s inauguration: zero,” she said dejectedly. “Look for the next update tomorrow.”
