After 8 years of silence during the Obama administration, former President George Bush is getting media attention for his thoughts on President Donald Trump.

During the Obama administration, the media did not care about Bush or what Bush thought because they didn’t want to highlight any criticism of Obama. But now that has changed and Bush is a media darling, especially when he criticizes Trump.

According to the report, the younger Bush responded to Trump’s inauguration speech with a dig.

“That was some weird s–t,” Bush said after leaving the dais, according to three people who spoke to New York Magazine on Wednesday.

The former president may have some issues with Trump because of the treatment of his brother Jeb! during the presidential campaign. Trump notoriously taunted Jeb!, calling him “low energy” and knocking out the well-funded GOP frontrunner from the race.

George W. Bush was also in the news last month when he appeared to take up for the media, following Trump’s continued antagonism.

“We need an independent media to hold people like me to account,” Bush told Today’s Matt Lauer.

“Power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive, and it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power.”

Bush went on to say, “It’s kind of hard to tell others to have an independent free press when we’re not willing to have one ourselves.”
